When you’re driving long distances with gear on the roof, the last thing you want is constant wind noise. The Thule WingBar Evo crossbars are built with an aero-style shape that helps reduce drag and sound. The top channels include split rubber strips that fill in around accessories to cut down on vibration and whistling, so your ride stays calm and comfortable even at highway speeds.
These bars give you the flexibility to carry just about any setup you want. The top channels accept channel-mount accessories for a clean look, or you can clamp gear directly to the bars. They’re compatible with most bike, watersport, snow, and cargo carriers, so you can load up kayaks, boards, boxes, or skis using the mounts you already own.
Many racks make you trim rubber strips to fit your accessories—these don’t. The top channels have split strips that let you slide gear mounts right into place without cutting anything. Hi, Matt with etrailer. If you have a 2024 Jeep Grand Wagoneer and you're looking for something to help transport your gear from point A to point B, but you want something that's gonna look pretty nice on top of your vehicle, then the Thule roof rack is gonna be a great option for you. So let's check it out. When it comes to roof racks for the Grand Wagoneer, there's not gonna be a whole lot of options out there. So if you didn't want to go with a roof rack, your other option is gonna be hitch mounted accessories. So if you have anything like a trailer or a hitch cargo carrier, those are great, and what I like about that is they'll lower to the ground.
The downside to that though is gonna extend the footprint of your vehicle by a decent amount, and this is already a pretty large vehicle, so you most likely wanna save some space. Are you gonna be able to do that with this roof rack But what I really like about this roof rack compared to other options around is the big thing is it just looks really nice on top of our roof, especially if you compare this to something on the back of your vehicle, like a hitch cargo carrier. Another thing that I like is just how easy it is to use and really mount your gear on top of here, but if we wanna take a closer look at that, we'll talk about each one of the parts. So on top, we are gonna have our crossbars. Beneath that, we're gonna have the tower, and underneath that, we're gonna have our fit kit.
So going into the crossbars, these are gonna be more of a arrow design. These are gonna be the wing bars, and what's nice about this is this shape is gonna allow it to be more aerodynamic to help reduce wind noise, and something else that's gonna help reduce wind noise is gonna be a rubber weather strip built into the very top of it, and that's gonna keep out any debris as well. Now, we actually don't have a weather strip on here today just 'cause this has been in the shop for a long time, so we no longer have ours, but that's also great, because having these T-channel's gonna allow you to mount different types of accessories that use T-channels, and while clamp-on accessories are nice, they take up some space underneath your crossbars, and, sometimes, if you want to get it as close as possible to the very end of your bar, going with T-channel is just the way to go. To make that process a little bit easier, too, we're gonna have this end cap that actually shifts up, so you can more easily load the gear into place, and these crossbars will be 53 inches in width, and that's just something to think about when you are putting accessories up here. So if you have anything wider, like a larger roof basket or a box, that's something to consider, and I like this end cap because it's gonna give us more of a clean design, just very simple to look at, and right next to that, you're gonna see we have this plastic core here.
This is gonna be a locking core. You can actually get this swapped out. You can actually find a metal locking core on our website. So if you want more security, you can have it. Now, if I remove that though, you can kind of take a closer look at what's happening underneath here.
So we're gonna have our fit kit, and this is actually a really easy fit kit to use and put on. All the parts you're gonna have are gonna be included, especially your tools, and there won't be any drilling required, and when it comes to fits and how it's gonna gonna look on top of your roof, check out this rubber pad. That rubber pad's nice to have, 'cause we're not gonna scratch anything up, and when we look at how it's sitting on top of our rails, this is a pretty seamless fit, and this is what you typically want with a roof rack, because it's gonna look a little bit more OEM, and we can take a closer look at the other side of the fit kit right here. You wanna have two bolts that hold this back bracket in place so you don't have to really worry about where you're gonna put these crossbars, 'cause they're gonna have a fixed point where they sit, but let's get a few measurements just to see how they're gonna fit on top of our roof. The first one I'm gonna get is gonna be the overall height it adds to your vehicle. So if we go from a raised rails, this is gonna be a little bit under five inches, which isn't too bad. Now, it is something to consider 'cause this is a taller vehicle, and if you include the roof rack and any accessories that sit on top of that, that's gonna set a pretty high. So if you're going under any low clearance areas, like a garage, definitely take that into consideration. Now, another thing we wanna think about is the distance underneath the crossbars. So going from the bottom of your crossbar to the top of your roof, that's gonna be a little bit over four and a half inches, which is gonna be plenty of room for most of your accessories if they have any clamp-ons. Now, if you have your sunroof open, you're gonna have a little bit less space to really play with. That's gonna knock it down to two and a half inches. So if you have any really bulky clamps, I don't think they're gonna make contact. Definitely watch out for it just in case, but trying to take 'em off if you have your sunroof open might be a little bit difficult, and if we come over here to the side, you're gonna notice we have just a little bit of overhang. So there's definitely a lot of pros and cons to overhang. Now, what's nice about this one, in particular, is it's pretty close to our vehicle. So it's not gonna stick out too much and look a little bit funny. Now, some people like no overhang at all, and that's nice, because it gives them more of an OEM finish, and it looks a little bit more finished overall. Now, what I don't like about that though is it's just a little bit harder to access your gear because those crossbars are gonna be a lot more in. Now, what's nice about this is if you have any accessories, you can put it closer to the very edge. Now, if you have any clamp-on ones, they might be a little bit harder to reach, especially with our crossbar or a tower right here, but if you're using T-channel accessories, you can slide that all the way to the very edge and grab anything you need. A perfect thing to think about would be any type of skis or a bike carrier, and this is gonna have a pretty decent weight capacity and what's gonna be your limiting factor, most likely, will be your roof. So what I'd recommend doing is finding that in your owner's manual, and then going from the lowest rated component. Now, overall, I think this is a great fit for a vehicle today. It has a very clean finish to it, and it's just easy to work with. It's not gonna extend your footprint either. Now, if you do have issues trying to reach up here and access your gear, even with our running boards on here, then I might recommend you go with some type of hitch cargo carrier. A great one is gonna be the Yakima EXO system. What's great about that is you can get that fitted with a lot of different type of accessories though. You can put boxes, baskets, ski carriers, bike racks, anything like that. You wanna have a lot of opportunities. The downside to it though is it's gonna be extremely large, and it's pretty heavy to get on there. So if you're ever in a spot where you can't really accommodate for that much space, then you're gonna have to take it off, and that can be kind of difficult to do, and in that case I'd recommend something like this, but if you're curious to see how this is to put on, there's not too much to it, but we do have some tips and tricks we talk about as we do it. If you are curious to see that, just stay tuned. We'll walk you through the process. To start off the installation, I like to lay everything out. You probably also noticed I already had my rear crossbar installed, but it's in the same process for you, the one. So what I'm gonna have is gonna be the crossbar itself, and we're gonna have the towers that come along with it. Now, for your fit kit that's gonna come in a couple pieces. We're gonna have part A, B, and C. You're gonna have the hardware to install it on top of your roof, and we're gonna have a couple included tools. This Allen key with a torque device on it, and this other one too is gonna be for putting this on top of your roof. Also, gonna have a tape measure that I recommend having with you just to make this process a little bit easier. The place I like to start off with is gonna be with the towers. So just make sure you take off your end cap. These are really easy to take on and off. Just pull, it'll come off. Yours might be locked. Just unlock it, and it'll come off. What I'm gonna do is grab part A, and you're gonna notice we have two tabs here. These two tabs are gonna go and face inwards into the tower to these two larger holes right there. We'll seed it into place, making sure this bolt goes through the center of it. Once that's complete, we're gonna grab our B part. It's gonna be this rubber pad. The way this is gonna go in, and as you'll notice we have some tabs on the bottom of it. These tabs are gonna align with the openings on our tower. You'll put into place just like this. You know you're putting it on wrong if it won't go on. If it is right, then it'll simply seat into place. You wanna make sure this bracket is wrapping around that rubber base, too. Once that's done, we can start putting it on a towel or crossbar. The way we're gonna do that is pull this over some, make sure the underside of your crossbar is showing. You can tell, 'cause we have this little piece here. We'll have a little measuring bar, and what I'm gonna do is remove our end cap. Just press on that tab. Pull it out. Wiggling helps with that process, just like that, and when you go put this in place. I wanna flip it around with simply just lining up these tabs, this middle bracket, with the opening here, and this should slide into place. We'll make sure we put it on in this orientation with that hardware, that bolt facing outwards. Once you've done that, we'll just put the end cap back on, and we can repeat that on the other side. Before we can actually put our crossbar up here, we wanna prep our roof. So you're gonna have a couple points that you can find. There's gonna be three points that have these tabs on them. These are go over to these tabs and remove them. Now, you're just gonna be using two of the sets and just kind of find what's best for your roof. I'm doing the ones closest to the front of the roof because that's gonna be where I wanna put my accessories. So I'll just start by removing these. Now, you'll want a flathead screwdriver to do this. Sometimes, you can get it with your hands, but that can be pretty tricky. A lot of times, people also recommend trim tools, but the ones I have today are coming out pretty easy, but this is also a pretty new vehicle. With those removed, we wanna grab our bracket. Now, we wanna make sure this tab that sits like this, kind of hangs over some, is hanging over our rails. Once we've done that, we're gonna line up these two holes on the backside of it with the holes right here on that opening. We then grab some of the hardware, these little bolts, and just thread those into place, starting with them being hand tightened. Once they're hand tightened enough, then I'm gonna grab my included tool. This is gonna be the one with that little star bit at the very end of it, and then we can tighten this down the rest of the way. Now, just be careful when you are tightening this down, sometimes, this can get kind of cocked at an angle, and once that happens, it's not gonna be an even fit. So just make sure you're watching that to make sure it is pretty level, and when this is complete, we can repeat this process on the other side. When you're putting your crossbars up here, there's a few things you just need to make sure of, and the big thing is making sure it's in the right orientation. So we are gonna have a thicker side. We want that to be facing forward towards the front of our vehicle and this thinner side facing behind us. Once we've done that, we need to make sure this is still able to kinda adjust some. Sometimes, you can pull this little bottom tab. It'll prevent it to move as moving so much, but I like to leave mine all the way in just so I have the option to move it around, and when I step up here, I'm gonna open up my doors just so I can step up a little bit higher since we do have those running boards, and I'm just gonna roughly place it up here. Now, this doesn't have to be perfect, and you can even grab a friend to help you out with this process, too, but, afterwards, then I can adjust my fit to make sure everything seats on properly. With everything seated in place on your brackets, we can get a few measurements. The first measurement I like to get is just the overhang we have, and then once I get that, then we'll do that again just on the other side to make sure it's even. If it's not even, you're just gonna grab this, you'll pull it in or push it out to make sure you have the right measurement that you're looking for. Now, you know which one my measurement is gonna be as soon as I get it there, then I should put on my clamp C part, and the way clamp C is gonna go in place is there's gonna be this whole clamp facing inwards like this. You're gonna have that opening here at the top. Once you put that into place, then we can line up that central bolt in there to this hole. That can be a little bit tricky sometimes. So when you do this, what I like to do is kinda see where it's currently at, then I'm gonna grab this little nut, and this will be a threaded side to it. So what you're gonna do is line up that threaded side with that bolt, and, sometimes, you can kind of put it in there at an angle and kind of scoop it up 'til it lines into place, then you'll just thread it on. Now, the big thing with this process is making sure everything's properly seating into each other. So notice how our clamp is underneath this rubber pad You wanna make sure the other side is like that, too. If both sides are underneath that rubber pad, that's how you know you have a good fit, then you just hand tighten this up, and before we completely tighten it down, I'm gonna repeat this on the other side. I'll just go back and forth until this feels pretty tight, and then use my included tool to tighten it down the rest of the way. Eventually, you're gonna reach a point when you go back and forth where you're gonna have a lot of resistance, and, eventually, (tool clicks) you hear some clicking coming from your torque device that's letting you know this is tightened all the way down. Once that happens, then you can put your end cap on, lock it into place, (tool clicks) and give this a good shake test. Make sure it's not gonna go anywhere, and if it feels pretty sturdy, you can take it out for a ride, but that's just a look at the Thule roof rack on top of our 2024 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. I'm Matt. They are super sturdy, solidly mounted and look good on the vehicle. Mine will be mainly used for surfboards and SUP’s. The assembly and installation was a breeze. The included written instructions would have been sufficient for a seamless installation but I also watched one of many YouTube videos that demonstrated very clearly every step of assembly and installation for this specific set of racks.

The bars are strong and fairly quiet, especially considering that I mount them on the main cab of my pickup truck and not on top of the canopy. My biggest concern is that the rubber strip that runs the length of the bar to reduce wind noise was badly damaged when I slid my canoe up on to the bars. Given the weight of the canoe, I'm accustomed to getting one end on a bar and sliding it back into position. Given the sensitivity of the rubber, is started pulling away from the bar and shredding when sliding the gunwales over the top of the bar. I'll try to be more careful, but a roof rack needs to be more utilitarian in my humble opinion.
I ordered the Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars - Aluminum - Silver - 50" with the Evo Flush Rail Feet for Thule Crossbars - Flush Side Rails and the Fit Kit for Thule Evo Flush Rail and Edge Flush Rail Roof Rack Feet for my 2020 Mazda CX9. I appreciated the product selector to make sure I was getting all the correct parts. I was happy with the products, but I did run into an issue where 1 of the rail feet had a defective bolt which required a replacement. I was very satisfied with etrailer's customer support, and how well they worked with me to get the part replaced quickly. I'm giving this a 4 start only because of the hassle of receiving a defective one initially
I bought the Thule Evo Roof Rack to transport my kayak on my Lexus 300H. Thule will advise you on their website that his particular rack is not right for a Lexus 300H (i.e., they don't make a roof rack for a Lexus 300H); it is really for a Camry, but etrailer told me that is worked, I trusted them and they were correct. After all, a Lexus sedan is really a fancy Camry, but Thule will not acknowledge this point. It works great. Thule makes a solid product.
These bars are light weight and easy to set up. However, the measurements in the directions were not right to fit them to my vehicle, and they were really difficult to adjust once the bars were on the roof. They seem to be snug on the roof and working well, I did a test drive yesterday at varying speeds and they are secure. They don't cause any unpleasant noise - you'd forget they were on there.
It is great. I love appearance of the Thule roof rack that I install today.
Very pleased with order. Shipped fast, not damaged, all parts accounted for. Easy install, very sturdy, and attractive design. Slight wind noise but that was expected compared to not having a roof rack.
Easy to assemble and install. Love the way etrailer packages everything you need and they all are correct for the vehicle you are mounting them on. Once installed they appear very strong. Installed on a 2023 Chevy Tahoe and did not interfere with the sunroof.
I had to warranty the bars because the rubber strips that seal the attachment channel would not stay attached.

I’ve had it on my 2021 Kia Telluride now for a few months and it works great. When I was mounting the forward bar, I opened the sun roof to make sure I was comfortable with the roof window and bar clearance.

Items arrived later than expected despite cancelling an month long order due to waiting stock on a different set up that was in stock. Once it arrived the box was all torn up and the person that delivered it just dropped it in the garage with the boxes spilling out of the bigger box. Love Thule products, etailer and the shipping supplier not so much,
Thule Rack looks awesome on my Kia Telluride. Products took a while to get to me because they were on backorder but it's not etrailer, they were on backorder everywhere. I messed up one of the pieces of rubber while installing and etrailer sent me a new one at no charge. Definitely recommend etrailer.
Overall solid product. The little rubber strips that fit into the top bar are relatively fragile, I installed them, pulled one out to trim about 1/8 inches of excess length and the strip deformed such that it never went back in correctly. Fortunately etrailer had replacement strips.
The feet are very sturdy and nice to put a strap around. The instructions didn't match the picture of what I was buying because they had a 28in gap between the front and the back feet but I actually needed more like 4 ft. so you can see I used something more like what the picture of a Leaf setup was on the etrailer website. The instructions were a little bit unclear about how the ridge on the bottom of the feet are to sit in the channels on top of the car but on the back rail I had to set the feet way outside the channels anyway. Still seems to be pretty solid
Thule is an excellent product and the fit on my 2017 Chevrolet Colorado is perfect. The good people at etrailer were super helpful in getting the correct fit parts to me as quickly as possible, especially during a tough year for all. I’ve found my Thule racks to be the perfect tool to take our kayaks on our adventures!
I’ve been searching for a set of crossbars for my 2021 Crosstrek. After looking at several different companys,, I decided to go with etrailer.com and get the Thule Wingbar Evo Crossbars and Evo Raised feet. Ordering was quick and shipping was even faster! Installed them in about an hour with no issues. I love the way they look, and the construction is solid. Installing the roof rack went well. Estimate start to finish was about 2 hours. Found it best to really examine each diagram in Thule’s step by step instructions to get it all right on the first try.
Hardness part of the installation was getting the crossbars installed at the proper distances. A tailor’s soft measuring tape & some masking were great aids.
I've always trusted Thule bars. I have an old Xsporter on my truck that works really well and it has held up over time. I needed to get a Thule rack for my Jeep Grand Cherokee and found that etrailer had all the parts I needed specified for my model. That was one of my favorite things about the site. No need to search around for the different parts to attached onto the factory rails. Once I received the rack and components, it was really easy to install. I pretty much watched the etrailer videos before hand.
I have the older Hullavator 897XT to haul my kayak in. With the WingBar Evo, I found I needed to get a slightly longer bolt (6-1.00 x 30), which I got from the local Ace hardware store, to attached the Hullavator support bracket to the WingBar. Once I got those bolts set up, I was on the water with the kayak the next day.
Talked to the customer service a few times and they are great friendly people. And I can understand what they are saying.
53” Thule bars fit our 2021 RAV4 Hybrid! Most people appear to be using 47” bars for the 2021 RAV4 with flush roof rails, but that’s smaller than I wanted. I sometimes carry a sheet of plywood, or a kayak plus a cargo box, and wanted a wider rack for that. I had heard that upsizing to the 53” bar was potentially not possible because the mounting slots on the bottom of the bar may not accommodate the rail locations relative to the bar length. ETrailer helped me out with some dimensions, so I bought the 53” bar knowing it would be close. There is only about a quarter inch of play on either side on the rear bar, but it fit (the front bar had more play, since the towers are a bit further apart at the front).
I’m SO happy with the result! Now I can carry what I want on the rack, and have room to spare! It looks pretty good too!

Reliable and durable
It took me a VERY long time to figure out what I needed to mount my Hullivator on my 22 Subaru Outback Limited. I bought the wrong parts on round 1, and finally after 2 yrs of frustration, asked AI what I needed. I don't entirely trust AI, but it got me on the right track. I asked the 'chat' person on etrailer about the AI suggestion, and the gal who helped me, Autumn, said the feet part was correct, but to use these feet and the TH37CE fit kit. I ordered immediately. Today was the day. Of note, the fit kit has specific parts for the front and rear passenger and front and rear driver side. Pay attention to the photo directions. The parts are different for each side. On my Outback, they mount at 69cm apart on the Subaru rails (folded in) on the Thule Wingbar Evo 55" bars. The cladding and design of the Outback roof system leaves much to be desired, but this worked and I'm looking forward to FINALLY using my Hullivator.
