Expert Reply:
The Thule Fit Kit for your 2014 Volkswagen Jetta no longer has a fit for the old style square crossbars. I recommend you upgrade to the Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars - 53" Long # TH711420, the Evo Clamp Feet # TH710501 and Fit Kit for Thule Evo Clamp # TH145016. This will give you the most updated system that will work extremely well with your vehicle and will be quieter than your previous all metal system. This rack will have the t-slot channels in the crossbars for clean mounting of many accessories.
I also recommend adding the Thule One-Key System Lock Cylinders - Qty 4 # TH450400 to secure your system and deter theft.

Here’s a question I have I like to go cross country a lot but all I have is a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta TDI sedan. I’m an absolute novice at Volkswagen stuff and roof racks. I’ve seen it done and I know that it’s possible, but I’m wanting to guarantee that this is a safe option to use for my car for a Smittybilt rooftop tent that weighs around 125 pounds. I don’t know if I didn’t look hard enough or not but I couldn’t find the driving weight or the static weight for this set up. I hope to hear from you soon thank you.
