MB Sturgis Propane Fittings - 100473-12

  • Hoses
  • Pigtail Hoses
  • 1 Foot Long
  • 1/4 Inch - Male NPT
  • Type 1 - Female
  • MB Sturgis

Pigtail makes the connection from the propane tanks on your trailer to the propane regulator. Also used to connect tanks to a high-pressure regulator to carry gas to a 2-stage regulator. Check valve prevents hazardous backflow leakage.

Features:

  • Propane pigtail connects your propane cylinder to a regulator
    • Used for single or dual tank setups on the front of your travel trailer
    • Also used to connect a remote tank to a high-pressure regulator
  • Female Type 1 fitting connects to the valve on your propane cylinder
  • Male NPT connects to a propane regulator
  • Built-in bypass mode shuts gas off when flow reaches maximum capacity for safety
    • Thermal shut-off device turns off gas flow in extreme heat caused by open flame
    • Excess-flow safety device limits gas flow in the event of a severe leak
  • Durable thermoplastic hose and brass fittings approved for LP gas only
    • Rated for high pressure and high flow rate to handle unregulated propane
    • UL569 and ANSI Z21-81 certified
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Temperature range: -40 F to 140 F
  • Hose dimensions: 12" long x 1/4" inner diameter
  • Hose fittings:
    • Female Type 1
    • 1/4" Male NPT
  • Maximum pressure rating: 350 psi
  • Maximum flow capacity: 450,000 Btu per hour
  • 1-Year limited warranty

This propane hose is ideal for travel trailers with a split-tank system. This kind of system features 1 cylinder on the driver's side and 1 cylinder on the passenger's side of your trailer. This hose connects the cylinder on the passenger's side to a high-pressure regulator. An additional hose (sold separately) will then carry the propane from the high-pressure regulator to the 2-stage regulator on the driver's side of your trailer.

Bypass Mode for Safety

This Type 1 connector will go into bypass mode if the flow rate surpasses the maximum flow capacity for this connector, which is 450,000 Btu per hour. A ball inside of the fitting will push an internal spring down, pressing firmly against the bottom of the fitting to shut off the flow of gas.

When choosing a Type 1 connector, consider your overall propane demands and choose a connector with a flow rate that just exceeds it. That way, you won't trigger the bypass mode during normal use, but it will trigger in the event of a leak. If the bypass valve engages, stop using gas and start checking your connections for leaks.

Awesome product! But more importantly, the company was great to deal with. I opted for the UPS delivery. Glad I did. I got a breakdown from all aspects of the delivery along It’s time of order,to time of delivery.Product seems to work superb. works better than the lines that came with our camper. In fact, I thought my one tank was empty because it would not light my stove. I was glad I tried it after putting the new line on! it now works. I have two lines and two tanks and even with the regulator set to the tank with the line that I thought was good, from the factory. It also must have been bad! because now that I replaced both lines my tanks, I seem to have more usable propane in them, which saves me money from filling a tank. Where beforeI thought the propane tank was empty and actually still had some propane still in it.

Installation was easy and seamless. The regulator worked as it should once the gas was turned on.

I know I can always get high quality components from e-trailer! This order was no exception.
by:
High quality hose, fit our 2011 Jayco 22FB perfectly. I replaced both of the original pigtails and the changeover/regulator.

Naomi made researching what I needed and ordering the parts a breeze. When UPS broke down Tyler in Customer Service. With above and beyond by searching for sister stores around me while I would be traveling to see if I could pick up parts elsewhere. The parts did show up the next day, but that was some of the best Customer Service I have ever experienced.

Product appears to be well made and shipping was fast. Got both my propane hoses replaced on my camper. Customer service was very helpful and pleasant to deal with.

Fit right, looks to be good construction. I had to add teflon tape as it leaked at first — it would be helpful to add that to the Information block, as I found that info in Q&A.
by:
Fits good and doesn’t leak. I had purchased some from Amazon and both pigtails leaked immediately after installing. Not worth the risk of saving a few bucks.

Great product! Fit perfectly

Good quality and works great

Thanks for the quick service.
by:
easy and quick to hook up
by:
Looks okay, I'll let you know if its really good if it lasts more than two years, which is about as long as the last one survived.

First one leaked jyst behind the type-1 connector at the hose. I was promptly sent another that didn't leak. Quality customer service and a good product.

Great fit and an awesome product!
by:
Correct part. Worked fime.
by:
It arrived quicker than promised. Was easy to install. It fits and works perfectly! No more leaky hose to my propane tank.
by:
This is what you want. Don't buy the cheap chinese crap. I did to replace original USA made pigtails (15 years old) and after losing a couple of tanks of propane, figured out they were slowly leaking. Cheap pigtails were only a couple of years old too. Don't let the fancy stainless steel braiding fool you like it did me.

The MB Sturgis pigtail is going strong, from desert heat to mountain camps with a bit of snow. I have decided this is the only brand to buy. I plan to purchase backups. Other brands fail frequently at rallies, with bees buzzing around the propane box. My original MB Sturgis products lasted over 10 years.

Hey Jason! • Do You Need Teflon Tape For A Propane Pigtail Connector.
Yes, you will need teflon tape rated for use with propane. The MB Sturgis Propane Hose Assembly - RV Type 1 w/ Back Check x 1/4" MPT - 12" # 100473-12 does not have an inverted flare in it so it will require tape on the end leading away from the propane tank. An example of the inverted flare can be seen on the MB Sturgis Propane Pigtail - Stainless Overbraid - Type 1 x 1/4" Male Inverted Flare - 2' # 100833-24. If you look at the fitting running away from the tank you will see the flare. If...

  • How to Remove Quick Disconnect Adapter From POL Fitting on DOT Propane Tank
There isn't really any advice I have on removing the quick disconnect fitting other than getting a wrench and plenty of elbow grease. It's in a POL thread which means it's a left-hand thread so keep that in mind. Once you get the quick disconnect out you can use a standard pigtail hose with a Type 1 ACME nut like part # 100473-12 on it.

  • Hoses and Regulators Needed to Add Dual Tank Propane Setup to Trailer
I attached a picture that shows what the typical dual tank setup looks like with the accessories needed labeled. First thing you need is pig tails to go from the tanks to the regulator like the part # 100473-12. Then for a dual tank regulator with automatic changeover we have the part # 37207-30395 that each of the pigtails would connect to. Then for a 12 foot long extension hose that would plug into outlet of the regulator you'd want the part # 100040-144-MBS. From there you'd connect...

  • Propane Pigtail That Connects to the Propane Takes and Has an NPT Fitting at the End
Hey, Corde. The type of hose you are looking for comes with either a 1/4 Inch male NPT or the 1/4 Inch MIF. Since you're not needing the MIF you would want to pick up MB Sturgis propane pigtail part # 100473-12. This one is a 12" hose so if you need something longer we do also have it in a 1-1/2 ft part # 100473-20-MBS and a 2ft part # 100473-24-MBS. Do you have a single tank set up or a dual tank set up?

  • Should Propane Leak From The Hose When I Remove The Tank on Fifth Wheel Trailer
You are correct, gas should not be able to leak from the hose when you remove the tank. It sounds like you have a stuck or defective check valve in the regulator or the pigtail. Sometimes corrosion can build up and cause the back check valve to stay open. Some customers have been able to use a small amount of spray lubricant or PB Blaster to loosen up any build up that may have caused the check valve to stay open, but your best option is to replace the regulator and the hose completely,...

  • Pigtail Hose And Adapter Needed To Connect To A 14mm x 1.5 Male Propane Fitting
Hey Layne, We don't currently offer metric fittings so you would need to get the correct adapter from your local hardware store, but we can hook you up with the pigtail hose portion of this. We offer pigtail hoses with a 1/4" male inverted flare (MIF) # 100575-12-MBS or 1/4 male NPT # 100473-12. Both are a foot in length so I would just see whether the npt or MIF is cheaper and go with that option.

  • Recommended Replacement Hose From Propane Tank to Regulator on 5th Wheel
The hose and fittings sizes are standardized for RV's. Therefore, what you have is going to be a type 1 to either a 1/4" NPT or 1/4" Male Inverter Flare. If you have the former I recommend part # 100473-12 or part # 37207-30715 if you have the latter. That said, I get why you're confused as these fittings don't actually mic out to 1/4", they will measure larger but that does not correlate to their nominal size which would be the same for measuring any sort of NPT fitting.
