MB Sturgis Propane Fittings - 100473-15-MBS

  • Hoses
  • Pigtail Hoses
  • 1 Foot Long
  • 1/4 Inch - Male NPT
  • Type 1 - Female
  • MB Sturgis

Pigtail makes the connection from the propane tanks on your trailer to the propane regulator. Also used to connect tanks to a high-pressure regulator to carry gas to a 2-stage regulator. Check valve prevents hazardous backflow leakage.

Features:

  • Propane pigtail connects your propane cylinder to a regulator
    • Used for single or dual tank setups on the front of your travel trailer
    • Also used to connect a remote tank to a high-pressure regulator
  • Female Type 1 fitting connects to the valve on your propane cylinder
  • Male NPT connects to a propane regulator
  • Built-in bypass mode shuts gas off when flow reaches maximum capacity for safety
    • Thermal shut-off device turns off gas flow in extreme heat caused by open flame
    • Excess-flow safety device limits gas flow in the event of a severe leak
  • Durable thermoplastic hose and brass fittings approved for LP gas only
    • Rated for high pressure and high flow rate to handle unregulated propane
    • UL569 and ANSI Z21-81 certified
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Temperature range: -40 F to 140 F
  • Hose dimensions: 15" long x 1/4" inner diameter
  • Hose fittings:
    • Female Type 1
    • 1/4" Male NPT
  • Maximum pressure rating: 350 psi
  • Maximum flow capacity: 450,000 Btu per hour
  • 1-Year limited warranty

This propane hose is ideal for travel trailers with a split-tank system. This kind of system features 1 cylinder on the driver's side and 1 cylinder on the passenger's side of your trailer. This hose connects the cylinder on the passenger's side to a high-pressure regulator. An additional hose (sold separately) will then carry the propane from the high-pressure regulator to the 2-stage regulator on the driver's side of your trailer.

Bypass Mode for Safety

This Type 1 connector will go into bypass mode if the flow rate surpasses the maximum flow capacity for this connector, which is 450,000 Btu per hour. A ball inside of the fitting will push an internal spring down, pressing firmly against the bottom of the fitting to shut off the flow of gas.

When choosing a Type 1 connector, consider your overall propane demands and choose a connector with a flow rate that just exceeds it. That way, you won't trigger the bypass mode during normal use, but it will trigger in the event of a leak. If the bypass valve engages, stop using gas and start checking your connections for leaks.

  • Propane Hose Replacements for Regulator
We do have hoses which may work for you. The MB Sturgis Propane Pigtail # 100833-24 is a type 1 cylinder connection with a 1/4" male inverted flare. This is a 2 foot hose, though we also have a 15" hose # 100833-15 and 1 foot hose # 100575-12-MBS. These hoses are also available with back check, the 20" # 100473-20-MBS, 15" # 100473-15-MBS and 12" # 100473-12. • Replacement Hose for Marshall Gas M4 Flexible Hose Connector with a Female Flare Fitting
I have done a bit of research and it sounds like you need the hose that goes from the propane bottle to the regulator. We have 3 different lengths of the MB Sturgis Propane Hose Assembly. • Length of MB Sturgis # 100473-15-MBS Propane Hose
I had specific measurements taken on the # 100473-15-MBS hose for you. Overall from end to end it's 15-1/2 inches long. The rubber portion is 11-1/2 inches and it's 14-1/4 inches from the outlet end to the end of the hose where it connects to the ACME nut.

  • 15" Hose For 100 lb Propane Tank With POL Fitting & 1/4" Male NPT Fitting
We do have an option for you, though the # 100473-15-MBS has a Type 1 fitting one one end and 1/4" Male NPT fitting on the other; the Type 1 fitting does not connect to a 100 lb propane tank, as those tanks have a POL fitting. Though there are no tanks with a Male POL fitting and 1/4" Male NPT fitting, you can use an adapter to get exactly what you need, with the correct parts being the following: - MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay Propane Fill Hose - POL Pigtail x 1/4" Male Inverted Flare - 15"...

  • Availability of 15 inch Long Propane Tank Pig Tails
I understand what you are saying and I think you are on the right track. A bit more length from the pig tail would allow the rubber line to be able to loop so that it could tuck down better. We have 15 inch pig tails like part # 100473-15-MBS or even 2 foot long sections like part # 100473-24-MBS.

Yes, you can use the MB Sturgis 100473 hose with a replacement single-stage regulator, which is what it looks like you need based on your photo. • Can Type 1 Propane Connector be Used for Propane Tank with Threads on Outside
Thank you for the photo! Since your propane tank has the threads on the outside and inside it means that you can use a pigtail with either the POL or Type 1 connection like you're asking about. Swapping over to the Type 1 is a great idea just because it's easier to twist on plus you don't have to mess with any kind of sealant. If your regulator has the adapter on it then I recommend using the MB Sturgis Propane Pigtail - Stainless Overbraid - Type 1 x 1/4" Male Inverted Flare - 15" # 100833-15...

  • Should Pipe Sealant be Used When Installation Propane Tank 1/4 MPT Pigtail
Yes you should use some kind of sealant on threaded fittings whether it is the tape or pipe dope. Using the white Teflon tape will work well on installing the propane pigtail top the LP regulator. Just wrap the tape on the threads only.

  • Pigtail Replacement for 2009 Jayco Jay/flight G2TT
It appears the part number you have listed may be a Marshal brand, we do not carry this brand but do have high quality components available from MB Sturgis. We have the MB Sturgis, # 100473-12, a 12" hose with the needed Type 1 - Male on one end of the pig tail and a 1/4 Inch - Male NPT on the other. See the attached product review video. • Pigtail Hose And Adapter Needed To Connect To A 14mm x 1.5 Male Propane Fitting
Hey Layne, We don't currently offer metric fittings so you would need to get the correct adapter from your local hardware store, but we can hook you up with the pigtail hose portion of this. We offer pigtail hoses with a 1/4" male inverted flare (MIF) # 100575-12-MBS or 1/4 male NPT # 100473-12. Both are a foot in length so I would just see whether the npt or MIF is cheaper and go with that option.

  • Troubleshooting Propane Regulator That Only Works on One Side
Start off by checking your pigtail. If you change your switch so that it is turned towards the side that isn't working and then swap your pigtails as well this will tell you if you need to simply replace a pigtail or if your have a bad regulator. If you find that it works when you swap the pigtail as well then you just need to replace your pigtail. From the picture that you attached it looks like the regulator has a 1/4" SAE inverted flare, like the Camco Automatic Changeover 2-Stage Propane Regulator # CAM59005 does. This means that only hoses that have the 1/4" male inverted flare, like part # CAM59053, will fit.
