Hi, everyone. Steven here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at our MEC Non-Leaching RV Propane Pigtail Hose. So, folks, if you're replacing the hose between that propane cylinder and your RV or camper's regulator, getting the correct connection on both ends is gonna be crucial, and you wanna make sure you're getting the right things the first time. So on the propane tank side, you're gonna have what's known as an ACME type one fitting. That's this traditional hand-tightening one.
If you have an older style, it may use a 7/8-inch wrench most likely. But this is what we call an ACME type fitting. And on the other end, you have a 3/4-inch male inverted flare fitting in this particular case. And this will connect directly to a compatible female inverted flare inlet on the propane regulator. So before ordering, make sure you're checking your regulator.
Make sure that's the connection you have. They make these in 3/8-inches, and I think a couple other ones, too. So just make sure you're checking, and be sure you're getting the right fittings the first time. Now, the biggest reason to me that you would choose this MEC one over some other brands, it's what we call a non-leaching hose. So there are contaminants known to be found in some LP gas that can cause standard hoses to break down internally.
The material can then travel downstream, and potentially cause problems at your regulator or inside of your appliances themselves. So the MEC uses a specially formulated oil-free hose design, and it's gonna resist those contaminants, and actually help keeping them, preventing them rather from entering the rest of the propane system. Now, this is an 18-inch long hose. We do carry these in multiple lengths. So make sure you check out and measure yours to be sure you're getting the right one.
Maybe you have an 18-inch, but you want a little more space. We sell these I believe in two-inch increments, so you can check them out again separately here at etrailer.
