  Is the jack overloaded which is causing the excessive amperage draw? What jack do you have? Can you see an amperage rating on it anywhere which would give you an idea what it should be drawing? It's possible the jack screw/gear is damaged too which would cause the motor to have to work too hard for standard use which might overdraw it's power circuit.

  We actually only have one jack that fits all of those requirements. That is the Round A-Frame Trailer Jack # TJA-5000S-B. This is a sidewind jack with a lift capacity of 3,000 lbs and support capacity of 5,000 lbs. I wouldn't expect the jack to fail as long as you're using it as intended.
