Rotating Arms with Ratcheting Wheel Hooks

Kuat NV22G ratcheeting wheel hooks

The NV 2.0 has ratcheting hooks that grab your bikes firmly by the front wheel - not the frame. It's perfect for carrying carbon bikes or bikes with a custom paint job. To load a bike, simply place your front wheel in the cradle, rotate the arm up and over the wheel, and press down firmly on the ratcheting hook.

Large Front Wheel Cradles

Kuat NV22G sliding wheel cradles with ratcheting strapsKuat NV22G sliding wheel cradles with ratcheting straps

The front wheel cradles will easily accommodate fat bike wheels. They can also be adjusted to perfectly fit each bike's wheelbase. Use the included Allen key stored in the compartment at the back of the rack to adjust.

Sliding Wheel Cradles with Ratcheting Straps

Kuat NV22G sliding wheel cradles with ratcheting straps

Ratcheting rear-wheel straps slide along the wheel trays to accommodate bikes with a variety of wheelbases. Press the quick-release button on the strap buckle to remove your bikes. An extender strap is included for use with 1 fat bike. Additional extender straps (sold separately) are available if you have more than 1 fat bike.

Foot Lever for Easy Tilting and Folding

Kuat NV22G hitch tightening adjustment knob

The spring-loaded foot lever is easily accessible even with your bikes loaded. No more crawling through your bikes or squeezing between the rack and the vehicle to hit the tilt release lever.

Kuat NV 2.0 tilting rackKuat NV 2.0 folding rack

The foot lever lets you tilt the rack down with bikes loaded for cargo area access. It leaves both hands free so that you can lower the rack in a controlled manner. When the rack is unloaded you can fold it up for storage.

Built-In Repair Stand

Kuat NV22B built-in repair stand

The Trail Doc is a handy repair stand that attaches to the front of the rack. It lets you position your bike as needed for adjustments, cleaning, and on-the-go repairs. It can be also be locked into place to prevent theft and includes a cap for the housing if you prefer to use the rack without it.

Kuat NV22B adjustable built-in stand

A spring-loaded clamp grabs your bike by the seat post or top tube. It has a soft, rubber coating that won't scratch your bike's paint. The rotating clamp arm lets you adjust the angle of your bike and the locking collar secures your bike at the desired height.

Tool-Free Installation with Anti-Rattle Device

Kuat NV22G anti rattle device

The knob at the front of the shank lets you quickly and easily install the rack. Just slide the shank into your hitch and turn the knob until snug. The knob deploys an anti-rattle wedge inside the shank to help take play out of the hitch connection. The locking hitch pin has an Allen tool on the end that further tightens the hand knob if you are still experiencing rattle after hand-tightening.

Complete Security for Bikes and Rack

Kuat NV22G integrated cable lock

The NV 2.0 includes integrated cable locks that lets you secure your bikes to the rack. A 1/4" thick, braided steel cable extends from each wheel tray, threads through your bike's frame, and locks back onto itself.

Kuat NV22G integrated cable lock

A locking hitch pin is also included to secure the rack to your vehicle. It's keyed alike with the cable lock so you only need 1 key for the rack.

Love this bike rack! The NV 2.0 firmly keeps my road bike and beach cruiser securely in place. The added lock is a great feature for keeping the bikes safe after a day of riding. Even on my tiny Corolla the rack looks and fits great. I never have to worry about the bikes when they're locked onto the NV 2.0

Review from a similar NV 2.0 in Hitch Bike Racks

I have had my Kuat NV 2.0 4-Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches - Tilting - Metallic Black for a month now. Amazing engineering. Solid rack. I have four or five old (cheaper) racks and this is the best rack I have ever seen by far. Extremely happy with this. I will reserve comment on whether or not a bike rack should cost $xx.xx but it’s a great rack. Possible improvements: 1) The rack is just too heavy. With the amazing engineers that worked on this, knocking 10 lbs off the rack would be easy. I know it is one of the lighter ones available but it is still too heavy. The center rail is all steel and the heaviest part. The outer part of the swing arms are steel (inner part is aluminum). The arms have really nice bushings on the hinges. The whole thing is amazing, well-built, and well-engineered. IDEA 1: lightweight the center rail by using U-lube instead of square tube. Or just make holes through the top and bottom of he square rail. IDEA 2) The Aluminum platforms are amazing. But use less Al and more plastic. The ones for the back tire add significant weight. 2) Someone came up with a great idea for dealing with one aspect of the weight problem. One problem is that at 54 lbs. when you put it in the receiver it’s hard to align the hitch pin hole by yourself. So I kludged up a stop using a ring clamp and some plastic tubing. I was going to tap a hole in the center rail for a stop screw but then I could not adjust the depth for different vehicles. So I went with the ring clamp. When installing it (see photo) I noticed that someone already had a great idea and tapped a hole to add a stop. I assume there is an adjustable clip that is secured by the recessed screw. But I did not receive the clip. I just have a beautifully designed tapped hole and recessed screw with no way to use it. Probably an easy answer to this one but i didn't get a clip and didn't see this referenced in the instructions at all. 3) Back tire surface. It almost doesn’t matter where you ride the mountain bike, somewhere along the trial there is sandy, gravely surface that gets on your tires. I have gone in five ‘dirt’ trails and covered my tires with smooth mud thinking that I wasn’t going to hit sand. Then when I get back to the parking lot the mud collects the sandy gravel—either in the gravel parking lot or at the edge of the asphalt lot. Then I put the bike on the beautiful smooth aluminum carrier and scratch it. There should be an improvement to resurface the area where the back tire goes. It looks like there has been some weak attempt to provide a plastic coat but it doesn’t work. I am going to buy some rubberized truck-bed liner or spray rubberized spray rust proofer to refinish this. 4) Last possible improvement. The only people that should be buying this bike rack are people with high end mountain bikes. The reason for the platform carrier is to accommodate the odd frame geometry of mountain bikes and to protect the full suspension from dangling and getting air in the cylinders. If you have a full carbon road bike then just hang it on the back of your car with a $200 bike rack. And no one is going to carry $120 steel Walmart BLO’s with a $xx.xx platform carrier. They are going to strap them to the roof of their minivan. So you could even make this carry less weight capacity to make it lighter. And just tell people to put the 60 lb bike (like ebikes) closest to vehicle and lighter bikes in the back. EVERYONE has a lighter bike… either aluminum, carbon, or just a kids bike. This rack can carry 250 lbs of bikes (4 x 60+). The market for carrying 250lbs of bikes is nearly zero. delivery was perfect. Assembly was easy with two people; probably could do it with one. As you can tell, it is a real stretch to find anything wrong with this. But my minor comments are above.

Comments
After one year: Bike rack is amazing. my few concerns previously were largely due to my lack of understanding. I have the four bike rack but primarily use the two bike rack. The reason for the heavy steel is for four bikes it seem overkill for the two bikes but its really nice when carrying four. The tapped hole is not for a stop at all. it would be nice to have an adjustable stop to limit how far you put it into the receiver so the pin lines up. also, when I put the rack on alone I put the two bike rack on, stand it up, and then add on the four bike extension vs. trying to put the four bike one on alone. adding the four bike rack is very easy... four minutes. This rack is just amazing. we use it every week for mountain bikes but it also carries our road bikes and cyclocross bike really easy. And the bike length can be adjusted in seconds. our road bikes have a shorter wheel base and it adjusts super easy. we beat on it pretty good and the only thing we have broke is lock user error. One of the kids unlocked the lock and did not it back into the frame all the way until the magnet clipped it in. so the lock dragged down the road. this is absolutely worth the money.

Review from a similar NV 2.0 in Hitch Bike Racks

About the Kuat NV 2.0: Buy a Kuat NV 2.0!!! Then, get the 2 Bike Add-On to carry 4 bikes. This is hands-down THE BEST rack on the market. I chose this rack after researching THULE, Saris, Yakima, and many, many others. The Kuat NV 2.0 has a professional car quality finish, is ROCK SOLID so the bikes do not move at all, has built in locks, a built in mechanic stand, and never touches your bikes. Do your research and you will arrive at the same conclusion: THERE IS NO BETTER RACK ON THE MARKET!!!

Love the fit and solid quality build of this bike carrier. Can't wait to try it out. I am using this carrier for two e-bikes and I am confident that it will hold up very nicely and will have no problem holding the weight of the 2 bikes.

Review from a similar NV 2.0 in Hitch Bike Racks

This is the second one I have purchased, which is telling how much I like it. I was rear-ended, and my previous one was damaged enough that I was within an insignificant amount of just replacing the whole thing with a new one. It is possible to replace just individual parts of this rack if you back into something and do less damage. Done, just replaced. I was impressed by the strength of this rack, and it saved my car. They say don't stand on this rack, but I've often stood on the center to fiddle with my cyclocomputer. It's heavy, but definitely not fragile. The only single reason I don't give this 5 stars is because the trail dock fits onto its neck with a pair of aluminum rivets, not a bolt, so it becomes a bit loose and cannot be tightened. I had problems with my previous trail dock, and they replaced it under warranty. Also, the whole thing is made in China, not anywhere in the Western world, and I think for what they charge that the whole supply chain could be put in Dixie, LA, or made by a robot in France. I thought before that I would buy 1-Up's aluminum rack which is made in Colorado. I re-bought the Kuat because it is more compact, stronger, and easy to buy. 1-Up has the hokiest website ever, and limited availability. Kuat runs a great website and sells all of their components. It's a darned nice rack, and it's a joy to use. I'm not sure it's worth what it costs, but I think it must be the best one so far for just least annoyances.

Comments
keep that rubber cover on the hitch lock pin, else road grime gums up the lock. Im still sure this is the best rack for most people and me. Saris has a pretty good one now that gives more consideration to dragging when the vehicle goes up an incline.

I am very pleased with the Kuat NV 2.0 bike rack. It was tough to swallow the price tag. However, looking back after purchasing more expensive bikes, and traveling several thousand miles with no issues, I can attest to the quality and durability of this product. For you Jeepers out there, you may need to extend your receiver hitch for proper clearance, depending upon the size of your tires and bikes. Just a tip.

Review from a similar NV 2.0 in Hitch Bike Racks

Rack arrived today. I will not lie, it is heavy and therefore cumbersome to assemble. Despite that, I was able to assemble and install it in just under one hour. I did this on my own, another person would have cut this time in half. The rack checks all the boxes of wants and needs. That same weight noted before makes it rock solid. The anti-rattle feature to tighten the hitch is wonderful. Handle/pedal to change from upright position to bike holding rack to tilt away from my Subaru 2010 Forester was incredibly simple and smooth. I was all set to buy the Thule T2 Pro XT 2 and a friend told me about this Kuat NV 2.0. I am so happy. I knew it was more expensive, but free shipping and price was discounted at checkout when I purchased it from etrailer.com. Great surprise. This rack is well thought out, has superb quality features, and I am convinced that I made the best choice. All things aside, it also really looks nice.

Review from a similar NV 2.0 in Hitch Bike Racks

First off, Etrailer is great to deal with. I did a bunch of research and they had the best price for the best bike rack that I was looking for. Communication was awesome from placing the order, to shipping, to delivery and after-delivery and follow up. The rack arrived when they said it would, and was delivered in great condition. No problems. I followed the manufacturers instructions for assembly, which were clear and comprehensive, and I was amazed at the quality of the rack. While i have not had the opportunity to put it to the test yet (being winter in New England, and I am more of a skier than a fat/winter biker), the build quality seems amazing, and it looks like it will be exactly what I expected, and probably more. I am looking forward to many miles with many bikes with this rack. Kudos to Kuat for making an excellent product, and etrailer for getting it to me at a great price. Etrailer has always delivered for me. the customer service is way above average. Keep up the good work!

Review from a similar NV 2.0 in Hitch Bike Racks

Very impressed with the ease of installation, features and function of the KUAT NV 2.0 hitch-mount bike rack. Assembly instructions are well done and assembly took about 30 minutes after reading instructions and watching a video. Really like the dedicated 2" square bar that goes into the hitch receiver instead of a smaller 1.25" bar with a 2" adaptor. Makes for a more stable and very solid installation, especially with KUAT's anti-rattle device. The hitch mount really locks down tight. Also going to like the built in trail doc bike stand for doing maintenance and repairs. Etrailer's product video was very helpful when deciding on purchasing this bike rack.

We use this rack 2-3 times per week and it has functioned flawlessly. Great design makes it very simple and quick to load and unload. Very stable on rough gravel roads. We add a front tire strap when off-roading for extra security.

Review from a similar NV 2.0 in Hitch Bike Racks

Assembly was not as difficult as I expected. After watching some videos, the instructions do make sense. I also used the box with some of the foam packing to support the frame because, as suggested, it easier to put together"upside down". Once it's together it seems very solid and well made. Installing on my 2017 Hyundai Tucson Eco was simple and easy to do. Putting the bike on the rack was even easier and will make impromptu bike rides no problem when I'm by myself. In the pictures the bike was on the outside rack because I was demonstrating it to my friend who thankfully assisted me with the hitch installation.

Comments
Thanks for pointing this out, Larry! Whenever you carry less bikes than the rack calls for, you should start loading your bikes closest to the vehicle and work your way out to avoid stress on the rack and your vehicle frame.

Review from a similar NV 2.0 in Hitch Bike Racks

Have used it on a 2015 Audi Q5 with an aftermarket Curt 2" hitch. LOVE it! We were looking for the longest tongue that we could find so that when stored upright, it wouldn't hit the bumper. With the advice of the etrailer phone rep...we got 4 place model which is what we ended up with..(we got the add-on) Avid mountain bikers that love this setup. The model is very solid with 4 bikes! Also like how you can adjust the front wheel cradle so that the bars won't rub on other bars/seats. Heavy when you lower the rack "loaded" to open hatchback, but that's what you'll deal with when going with a setup that doesn't touch the frame which is what we want and need. Much nicer than the Thule/Yakima options that other friends have. A lot better looking too!! It does slightly block the tail lights so added some reflectors for those "distracted drivers" ;-) Highly recommend and feel price is worth it.

Arrived intact and very quickly with free shipping. Easy to assemble. Feels rock solid. Despite the warning that you cannot use with front fenders (which we discovered buried in the manual after purchasing) the front wheel retention gadget holds securely to the fork stabilizers on our mountain ebikes. Cable locks look easy to defeat but would probably slow down a thief long enough to run into a store for 5min. Nice design. It is clear that they put a lot of thought into the design and construction of this rack and actually tried using it before selling it. Great upgrade from our hanger-style Yakima rack that the ebikes could barely be loaded on because of their nonstandard frame designs. First Kuat product for me. Won't be the last.

Review from a similar NV 2.0 in Hitch Bike Racks

What an awesome rack. The modular aspect of it is fantastic. Sometimes it’s just my and my wife, no need for a 4 bike carrier. Other times, another couple may want to go with us, not a problem, add on the extension to make it a four bike rack. I’ve never timed it, but I don’t think it takes more than 15 minutes to add the extension. The hitch tension wheel (sorry, don’t recall what KUAT calls it) is great. Pin the hitch, hand tighten the wheel and you’ll think that the rack was part of your vehicle. No swaying or bouncing around. The cradle and hook system is quite secure, I’ve never felt unsure about it. The built in cable locks are nice if you are overnighting at a hotel, great peace of mind that your bikes will still be there in the morning. The drop mechanism is spot on, the hatch clears when you drop it down, if only by a smidge causing my wife to gasp once or twice that her paint would get scratched by a handle bar. Naturally, lifting the rack back up with 4 bikes loaded on it can be a chore but the rack never claimed to defy the laws of physics. The only downsides: the rack is too heavy and awkward to handle with the extension. If you have the extension on and loaded, there is a lot of weight back there. This rack is for my wife’s Expedition, no small vehicle, and if I change lanes too quickly, it will definitely give you some sway. I could only imagine what it would feel like in a smaller vehicle. Obviously, with the extension on, it adds quite a bit of length to your vehicle. However the last 2 points are easily managed simply by remembering the bike rack is on there.

Review from a similar NV 2.0 in Hitch Bike Racks

Fantastic bike rack!! After getting fed up with loading my bike up repeatedly in the back of my 2003 GMC Sierra pickup (with a hard top cover) I decided to purchase this kuat rack. I wish I would’ve sooner. Assembly was easy and straight forward however I would use a magnetic parts bowl if I had it to do over. Kuat doesn’t included any extra nuts so I had to contact them to get another after I dropped and lost one (they were very polite and shipped one right away.) As far as function goes this rack is really easy to use. Just slide it into the receiver and put the lock pin it. Just like in the video you then tighten the knob at the back to secure the hitch so there is no movement. Load your bikes up and secure them and you’re ready to go. I did utilize the retractable cable locks after my ride when stopping to eat and they are very easy to use. No worries at all about a stolen bike. And the tilting feature is great too. It does allows you to access your truck bed with the tailgate down just as in the video. As an added bonus this rack fits perfect in my standard size truck bed even with the hard top cover closed (my truck is too long to fit in the garage with the rack folded up installed in the hitch.) Michael H. was outstanding providing schematic drawings with the dimensions so I would know this before my purchase (they’re on the Q&A page.) The free shipping was very fast so that made the purchase even better. I will definitely be a repeat customer as eTrailer is the one of the best companies out there with great customer service and timely communication. Great job!!

I'm very pleased with this bike rack. It's sturdy and allows for the easy mounting of the bikes. It's everything the manufacturer said it was in the specs. I do use some extra bungee cords to secure the bikes together so the inner bike doesn't lean toward the back window. It's a quality, well-made product that will last. Well worth the extra cost over cheaper bike racks.

The Sherpa is however lighter so it will be easier to get on and off the vehicle. If this is not what you were looking for please just let me know.

Great questions! I can really tell that you've been looking into this. I will address all of your questions in order to help keep things organized, but first I'd like to throw all of the part numbers in a list to make things easier to read: Thule EasyFold XT - # TH903202 Extra-Long Loading Ramp - # TH933402 Kuat NV 2.0 Gunmetal Gray - # NV12G Kuat NV 2.0 Metallic Black - # NV12B Kuat NV 2.0 Base Matte Black - # BA12B (no integrated bike repair stand) Access Ramp - # ANVBRB I...

That is a great idea and there is a market for it but we haven't won the manufacturers over with that option yet and we can't add anything to their products without a warranty issue. We haven't seen a ramp for the Saris SuperClamp EX 2 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount # SA4025F but there is another option with the fold up platform rack you may want to consider. The Access Ramp for Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack # ANVBRB is compatible with # NV12G, # BA12B, # NV12B, and...

  • Best Bike Rack for a 2020 Kia Soul with Heavy Bikes
I have a solution for you! You are correct that the hitches for the 2020 Kia Soul like the Curt, part # C67FR, are Class I and the bike racks need to be rated for Class I hitches. You are also correct that the Saris Freedom, part # SA4412B, requires a Class II or higher hitch. Therefore, the best rack I can recommend to you is the Kuat NV 2.0, part # NV12B. This platform rack is compatible with Class I 1-/4" hitches like the ones for your Kia Soul. It can handle 2 bikes up to 60 pounds...

  • Can Kuat NV Bike Rack be Used with 2019 Honda Accord
Kuat actually makes a version of their Kuat NV 2.0 that fits Class I 1-1/4 inch hitches like the hitches that fit your 2019 Honda Accord such as the Draw Tite # 24972. For that you'd just need the # NV12B and you'd be set! The reason Class III hitches aren't available for your vehicle is that Class III hitches are normally only used on higher capacity vehicles like trucks and SUVs. I attached a review video for the Kuat for you to check out as well.

The hitches available for a 2020 Mazda 6 are a Class I with a 1-1/4 inch receiver tube. For a Kuat NV 2.0 that will work in that hitch, you'd want to go with either # NV12G in Gunmetal Gray or, # NV12B for Metallic Black. You cannot go wrong with any Kuat bike rack. They make a super-high quality product and their customer service and attention to detail is outstanding. The Draw-Tite # 24908 and the Curt # C11356 have identical capacities and are visually identical, but Curt does a slightly...

Your concerns are definitely valid because the Access Ramp # ANVBRB was designed specifically for the NV 2.0 and it won't fit the Kuat Sherpa 2.0. If you really like your Sherpa 2.0 then your best option is to upgrade to the NV 2.0 so that you can load your E-Bike easier. Aside from the adding the ability to use the ramp you probably need to upgrade anyways because the Sherpa 2.0 has a bike weight capacity of 40 lbs per bike and most E-Bikes weigh in around 55 lbs. • Best Bike Rack for Carbon Fiber Frame Bikes
The best bike rack option we have for expensive carbon fiber frame bikes is the Kuat NV 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack part # NV22B for 2" or part # NV12B for 1-1/4". The NV holds the bikes by the wheels so there will be no chance for damage to the frame and it comes with locks for both the bike rack and bikes so there will be a decreased chance of theft. It works with tire sizes up to 3" so there will be no problems here either and it comes with a really nice finish.

The best bike rack options are hitch mount bike racks. They do not make contact with your vehicle, offer better security, and have a much wider variety of options to choose from. To carry a hitch mounted bike rack you naturally need a trailer hitch. I recommend going with the Curt Trailer Hitch # C11466 which is a Class I hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver opening. This is a custom fit hitch that is made right here in the USA and has a limited lifetime warranty. Please note that since you...
