Question:
I just bought a 2022 Mini Cooper se and the only hitches I can find for it are class 1, 1 1/4. Id like to purchase your above numbered rack but it says its for class 2 only. Im wondering why I cant use it if its made for 1 1/4inch ?

Class 1 hitches do have the 1-1/4 inch opening but they are rated for lower weights and pressures than a class 2 or 3 hitch. At most a class 1 hitch can have a max tongue weight of 200 pounds. It is simply not safe to have much weight on them. The hitch reciever opening will also be weaker and unable to handle the stress of some accessories even if they are not "heavy" they may put more leverage and stress into it causing warping or structural failures.
That is why the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # HLY74FR is not compatible with a class 1 hitch receiver.
That is why most class 1 hitch also have a stop punched into the receiver tube to prevent the use of class 2 accessories. That said some vehicles are limited to the size/weight of things they can tow/haul. So a class 1 hitch will be the only thing available for that particular vehicle. Like your 2022 Mini Cooper SE.
I recommend the Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" Hitches - Wheel Mount - Metallic Black # NV12B for its versatility and security, it has keyed alike locks, a built in bike repair stand, tool free installation and a rust resistant aluminum frame with black powder coat.
Lastly I recommend removing the batteries from your Ebikes while transporting them too. This will remove a good amount of weight and will make travel safer for you and put less stress on your equipment.
