Adapter Needed For A Kuat NV 2.0 For 1-1/4" Receivers To Install In A 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver

Updated 04/30/2024 | Published 04/29/2024

Question:

Hello! I have a 2” hitch and a Kuat NV 2.0 bike rack designed for a 1.25”, fitted with an adapter. I’m looking to get a locking, anti-rattle hitch pin to replace my current pin which is very long and easy to cut but I think e98880 will be too thick, while the thinner 1.25”-hitch-compatible version will be too short. Do you know of any 2”-hitch-compatible ,locking, anti-rattle pins that have the smaller, 1/2” diameter but the longer length? I suspect I might be completely out of luck… Thanks for whatever info you have!

Hey Madison,

Kuat actually has 2" adapter # D101 that's designed to work with the 1-1/4" shank on your Kuat NV 2.0 # NV12B that will also work with your original hitch pin. You'll be able to remove the reducer you have in the receiver and slip the rack with this adapter on it right in and tighten down the anti-rattle device built into the shank to prevent movement. I've attached a video below where Aiden will walk you through installing it.

Thanks, Kevin! That’s what I’ve currently got going on. My concern is there have been a number of kuat-targeted thefts in my area due to the long and easy to cut hitch pin. I was hoping for something that would be flush to the receiver, like the anti-rattle pins.

@Madison Unfortunately they do not have an alternative hitch pin option to solve the theft issue you're facing. I bet if you look for a local fabrication company they could machine a new hitch pin for you to the same thickness and shorten it enough to prevent someone from being able to cut it.
