The best bike rack options are hitch mount bike racks. They do not make contact with your vehicle, offer better security, and have a much wider variety of options to choose from.

To carry a hitch mounted bike rack you naturally need a trailer hitch. I recommend going with the Curt Trailer Hitch # C11466 which is a Class I hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver opening. This is a custom fit hitch that is made right here in the USA and has a limited lifetime warranty. Please note that since you will be using it to carry a non-trailer load Curt requires a stabilizing strap like part # 18050 to be used.

If you are looking for the best bike rack out there then the Kuat NV 2.0, part # NV12G for Gunmetal Gray or part # NV12B for Metallic Black, is the winner by far. This is a wheel mount bike rack that can carry basically any bike that doesn't have fenders. The max wheelbase it can carry is 50" and it can fit wheels from 25" - 29" that are 3" wide. It can carry 2 bikes that weigh up to 60 lbs each.
