Video Transcript for Curt Hitch Ball - Trailer Hitch Ball - C40034 Review

Today, were taking to look at the Curt Two Inch Hitch Ball, part number C40034. This ball is a two inches in diameter. It also features a two inch high-rise that it lets you easily match the ball to the trailer height. The trailer ball will sit an extra two inches above the ball mount platform. Ill show you how were going to install that on a ball mount in just a moment. The fine threads provide an exceptionally tight and strong grip.

It has a nickel chrome finish to resist corrosion. The lock washer and nut are included. Again, this is a two inch diameter hitch ball. The shank is 2-1/8 inch long with a one inch diameter, a two inch ball rise and this item does have a weight capacity of 6,000 pounds. Now, were going to bring in our ball mount and trailer hitch demonstrator.

As you see here, you just slide the shank into the ball hole. You would put the washer on, put the nut on, and then finger-tighten that. Then once youve got that tighten, youll get your wrench and then continue to tighten as far as possible, and then youre ready to tow. As you can see, you have an additional two inches above the ball platform where your hitch ball was set. That should do it for our Curt Two Inch Hitch Ball with a two inch rise, part number C40034.

Exactly what I needed for my 4 wheeler to keep the tongue of the trailer from being too low. The price was good and the delivery was quick. The only thing I had to do was to enlarge the hole to fit the one inch shank. Thanks etrailer for having what I needed. 877775

Great quality, Excellent chrome plate over copper plate base on the steel. No problem as long as you can access the nut to tighten it. However, in my application the nut is captured in a recess, so you have to turn the ball to tighten it. There are no flats to wrench he ball. Strap wrench just slipped, leather over pipe wrench jaws got two turns before chrome polished the leather and slipped, triple wrap of duct tape got two more turns before tape ripped and adhesive slipped. Gave up and cranked pipe wrench. To cover scratched chrome masked off ball and around base and painted black to match hitch. Looks like it was made that way. 871687

I didnt have a problem one lock washer is chinsed down flat your good. Put it in your hitch for a quarter more turn and your good. with 2" drop this allowed it to become zero drop which was my goal . ordered from etrailer before and will if need in the future. live in cali so it took a few days but it was shipped out a couple hours after I ordered it. Ask the Experts about this Curt Trailer Hitch Ball

  • How To Tighten the Curt 2" High Rise Hitch Ball C40034 To 450 Ft. Lbs.
There are torque wrenches available that can apply 450 ft. lbs of torque that is needed for the 2" High Rise Hitch Ball part # C40034. However, these torque wrenches can be very expensive and not easily attainable therefore we generally just recommend that you place some sort of large pry bar on your wrench/ratchet and then tighten as much as you can.

  • 2 inch Rise Ball Mount Availability
We carry several ball mounts that have a 2 inch rise. I attached a link to a page that has all of them listed. The most popular one we carry for a 1-1/4 inch hitch would be part # C45521 and for a 2 inch hitch part # C45230. We do carry a 2 inch hitch ball with a 2 inch rise built into it that has a 1 inch shank diameter, part # C40034. The thing about Class I ball mounts is that you are only supposed to use the recommended ball mount for the hitch that is installed in the vehicle....

  • Not Leaving Marks On Hitch Ball When Tightening The Nut
I will be happy to explain the best way to not leave marks on the Curt 2" Hitch Ball # C40034. When I tighten the nut when using the hitch ball I use several layers of duct tape or a towel on the shaft portion of the ball when tightening it. That way it will leave as few marks as possible. Curt recommends the use of 250 ft/lbs of torque when tightening the nuts of their hitch balls with a 1 inch diameter shank. The general rule is for a 3/4" shank tighten to 150 ft/lbs For a 1" shank...

  • Using a Ball Mount with More Rise Instead of a Hi-Rise Hitch Ball on a Class I or II Hitch
Like you said all of the hi-rise hitch balls have a larger shank diameter than 3/4 inches. They are all either 1 inch or 1-1/4 inch. But depending on how much total rise you need there may be a ball mount you can use that will get you close if not at the height you need. I have included a link below to our help article that shows how to measure to select a ball mount with the correct rise or drop. The Class I ball mount with the most rise is # C45028 with 5-3/8 inches rise. But it has...

  • Is a High Rise Hitch Ball Needed To Tow With The Bumper On a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado
That is a great question but I am afraid this is not something that we have been able to test our self that way we cannot confirm this for you and it would also be dependent on the height of your trailer coupler. However, if you feel the 2" of extra clearance is enough to help keep the coupler off the plastic rear fascia then we do have an option for you but this will be dependent on what size hole you have for the shank and what size hitch ball is needed. • Installation and Torque of 1-1/4 Inch Shank Hitch Ball onto Ball Mount
That foot pound rating for torqueing a hitch ball onto a ball mount requires a special torque wrench. A local mechanic should have something compatible. If you can't find anyone with the correct torque wrench as many max out at 250 lbs, then we recommend using a breaker bar and pipe extension to at least ensure the lock washer is completely compressed to flat before use. Installing the ball mount sideways in the receiver tube will allow the best hold (although without pin obviously)...
