Video Transcript for Curt Hitch Ball - Trailer Hitch Ball - C40032 Review

Today we'll be taking a look at part #C40032, this is the Curt 1-7/8" hitch ball. It's got a nice high-rise design to it, it's going to let you easily match the ball to your trailer height. The trailer hitch ball sits 2 extra inches above the ball mount platform. We've got the fine threads here on the shank, that's going to provide a nice, tight, strong grip that we're looking for, steel construction with a nickel-chrome finish to resist rust and corrosion. You're going to get your hitch ball, you're going to get lock-washer, and your nut for a full installation. When installing this, you'd place this through your draw-bar or through that ball hole, lock-washer goes on the underside followed by the nut and then you would need to get that tightened down according to the specifications listed by the manufacturer. The hitch ball diameter is going to measure 1 and 7/8 of an inch, it's going to have a capacity of 3500 pounds. That rise, right there, that's where you can see that two inch measurement.

The shank length from the bottom of the platform to the end of the threads is 2-1/8", it's going to give us a shank diameter of about one inch, and then the measurement that we have from the bottom of the platform to the top of the hitch ball that's going to give us a measurement of right at 4-3/8". That's going to do it for today's look at part #C40032.

Excellent tow ball. Solved the problem that the original towing hitch was to low for our tandem boat trailer.
Has been used extensively over the last year towing our boat without any issues.
Highly recommended. were excellent to deal with.

Still great. Excellent product no issues.

Exactly was I was looking for...I am going cross country on a motorcycle trip and I am pulling a trailer for gear and supplies. This riser puts my trailer at level while attached to my bike. Delivered on time, great solid product.

I needed a little more height for my hitch to clear the shackle on my Kobota tractor. This high rise ball was just the ticket. Thanks etrailer for another quality product!

Can't go wrong dealing with these folks. Quick response and shipping. Would buy from again and recommend to all.

Its awesome

Well constructed.

Quite pleased with etrailer ball hitch accessories which I am using on a spindle wheel motorcycle carrier behind a fifth-wheel trailer.....

They are all serving their intended function just fine. Thanks

I bought a 2" ball extension to cure my problem with my trailer tracking. It is exactly what I needed & wanted. My trailer is now tracking level. It was delivered in timely manner. Cured my problem with trailer tire wear. Have & will continue to to share my pleasure of dealing with you. Thank you for excellent customer service and product.

Very impressed with this ball, chromed, the shank is quite long... I'll be able to add another bolt and get 3/4" to and inch rise out of it. My intent is to use this on my motorcycle and trailer. I'll post pictures later. Thanks highly satisfied! !!

Weve put thousands of miles on the motorcycle and trailer... this ball is amazing. The extra height has leveled the trailer... very very satisfied, thanks for an outstanding product!!!

The ball is used behind my motorcycle. My goldwing hitch sits lower than level on the trailer I have. This ball allows the trailer to sit level. It pulls smooth and is built very strong. Great product at excellent value. Was ordered easily over Internet and shipped within 24 hours and arrived in 3 days. Very satisfied with product and service.

As a owner of a auto repair shop i have used this site to help customers find the right trailer hitch for there car and for me ones that are mostly bolt up to car and makes it easy for me the installer and the customer.
as a busy shop in Briarcliff I always recommend
excellent quality and workmanship

I had a great experience with etrailer! This was my first time using the company after finding them on an internet search. They were the only source I found who had a 1 7/8" ball hitch with a 2" rise. The price was what I expected pay. The order shipped the same day and arrived as described a few days later. I have yet to use the product but have no concerns it will work as I expect it to. Thank you!

I needed to raise my trailer mover up about 2 inches. The hitch ball was exactly what was needed. It was about as heavy duty as you can get. Worked great.

This is my first experience with etrailer. I purchased a raised hitch ball that I couldn't find locally. Great experience with no hassles. I received my product today. Quality is excellent.

Nice product, seems well built. Would like to see a hex at the bottom of the 'rise' for installation purposes. This is going to be tough to torque onto the hitch without that.

Worked great. My trailer behind my Can-Am Spyder motorcycle was always looking like it was going to drag on something. The two inch rise ball was exactly what I needed.

Diana H. did an outstanding job. She took the time to be sure all of my questions were answered to my satisfaction so that there were no surprises when the product arrived. So far , pleased with the product, will know more after the first time towing my trailer. Not only would I order again , I would recommend etrailer to a friend.
Thank You.

Buying from etrailer was my firsttime and I will absolutely but here again.Mandy was a delight to deal with and the shipping was awsome and on time.I would recommend this to a friend.

I have bought several items from you people and have always been completely satisfied. I am going to use this ball on my motorcycle to raise the tongue height.

My new motorcycle is lower than my previous one and need this to level out the trailer. Haven't used it yet but looks like it will do the trick. Good construction and order came in a timely manner. - etrailer rocks!

An excellent quality made trailer hitch ball. Five stars all the way!

I ordered this for an "older" motorcycle rider friend(80!) and they can be so arrived promptly, in excellent condition, and was the perfect weight and size...will definitely use etrailor and Michele again! thanks.

Does a perfect job of raising the tongue on my motorcycle pull behind trailer to make the trailer ride level.

This is a simple trailer hitch and I have not taken a picture of it. However it arrived quickly and well packed and handled and I am very happy with your company's performance.

I am extremely happy with product. Once again retailer has out done the others. I can buy online and get items in a matter of days. All products work great.

  • Tips for Tightening Curt Hi Rise Hitch Ball
The totally round base of the Curt hi-rise ball like part # C40032 does make it challenging to torque the nut of. There really isn't a great solution but a large set of channel locks or vice grips could work if you were trying to do it with the ball mounted in a trailer hitch. Or if you have access to a vice on a work bench that would be the best to secure it.

  • How to Tow a Trailer Level
You have the right mindset, you do want to have the height of your hitch ball so that it allows the trailer to be towed as level as possible. To do that check out the link I attached. The best option I could provide would be for you to remove the fixed hitch from the vehicle you have an install a custom hitch for the vehicle that will allow you to use a ball mount. Doing this will allow you to select the correct rise/drop ball mount you need so that you can tow your trailer level. Follow...

  • High-Rise Hitch Ball to Increase Height for Motorcycle Towing Camper Trailer
I understand your need but we do not have any 1-7/8-inch couplers with height adjustment. Such items do exist for higher-capacity 2-5/16-inch couplers. To even out the height difference between your two tow vehicles you might use a high-rise hitch ball on the bike. Curt 1-7/8-inch ball # C40032 gives you 2-inches of additional height over a standard ball.

  • Super Extra Long Ball Mount Recommendation for a 2012 Toyota RAV4
I believe the correct ball mount for you to use would be the Brophy Ball Mount # BM20. This ball mount has a distance of 13-1/4 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole out to the nearest part of the ball mount platform, and since the hitch on your 2012 Toyota RAV4 has a distance of 9.5 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the furthest point of the bumper I believe this ball mount would work well for you. This ball mount also has a rise of 2-3/4 inches, and if you get a...

  • Ball Mount to Clear Rear Bumper on 2013 Toyota Sienna and Provide Close to 7 Inch Rise
Based on your measurements getting exactly what you need is a little tricky but I have some possible options for you. I can get you close to the rise you need by using ball mount # D-28, which has a 4 inch rise, with hi rise ball # C40034 or # C40032, both of these balls offer another 2 inches of height for a total rise of 6 inches. The tongue weight of the trailer will pull it down a little so at most you would be off level by 1 inch.

  • Finding the Right Ball Mount for a 2009 Chevy Avalanche to Tow a Trailer Level
Using a regular ball mount does not reduce the capacity of the trailer hitch. That only happens when using certain adapters and extensions. Since the hitch height and trailer height are the same you would need a ball mount with no rise or drop. But let's make sure you are measuring the same way we do. With the 2009 Chevy Avalanche and trailer on level ground measure from the ground to the top of the hitch receiver opening. Then measure from the ground to the bottom of the coupler with...

  • Multipupose Ball Mount to Tow a Trailer and Bike Rack at Same Time that Doesnt have a Drop
You wouldn't want to use MaxxTow MT70070 anyway because it will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent. The Curt multipurpose ball mount # D210 is going to be the best option. To overcome the 2-1/4 inch drop you can use a ball with a rise such as # C40034. This is a 2 inch ball rated for 6,000 pounds. It has a 2 inch rise so the drop of the ball mount would only be 1/4 inch. We also have ball # C40033 with a 1 inch rise. If you require a 1-7/8 inch ball...

We offer a range of hi-rise hitch balls but none has a 3/4-inch diameter shank; all are 1-inch or 1-1/4-inch diameter. You can instead use a ball mount with the equivalent rise to accomplish the height adjustment you need.
