Video Transcript for Complete Breakdown of the 2" Hitch Ball-C40034

Today, we are going to be taking a look at the CURT trailer ball. So this trailer ball is a little special. What makes it special Is this right here. You can actually get two inches of rise, just by putting this ball on our ball mount. So our ball mount is a four-inch drop and a two-inch rise. But with this, we're actually kind of swapping it around.

We're going to have a two-inch drop and if we flipped it around, we'll have a four-inch rise. So that's kind of crazy how just one ball can completely change what your ball mounts gonna do for you. So if you liked the ball mount, or you just like, "It gets the job done, why do I need a new one I just need an extra inch or two." This is really going to shine for that. We also have some that are only going to be about an inch. So whatever tickles your fancy, just go ahead and grab whatever size is gonna be right for you.

This one is a two-inch rise, but it's also a two-inch ball. So just look on your coupler, make sure it's the same size. And then also take into consideration, that this thing has a capacity of 6,000 pounds. So with our ball mounts 7,500, and then the ball is 6,000. So the lower number of the two is going to be the max of what we can use with this setup.

So 6,000 pounds for this setup. You wanna make sure that you pair that up. And that's one of the things you need to kind of look for. Also, another thing you need to look for is the hole on your ball mount that you have or the ball mount that you're gonna get it needs to be an inch in diameter because the shank is an inch in diameter. We don't want it any bigger because there'll be so much play.

And then anything smaller, of course, is not really going to fit. So that's two things that you need to look for whenever you kind of pairing this up because this thing by itself isn't going to do anything. You need a ball. We have a lot of different options on our website, so just figure out what you need, figure out exactly what you want, and then etrailer's here to hook you up. There really isn't a whole lot when it comes to trailer balls, this was just super awesome. 'Cause, it has that extra rise there. Made of steel. And if you we're to maybe add something else to the setup, just grab some grease just to keep this ball nice and shiny for all the years of use that you're going to do with it. All in all, this is gonna be a great option for ya. And again, this was the CURT two-inch rise, two-inch trailer ball..

  • Recommended Torque for Tightening Curt Hitch Balls to Ball Mount
Curt recommends the use of 250 ft/lbs of torque when tightening the nuts of their hitch balls with a 1 inch diameter shank like the part # C40034 that you referenced. The general rule is for a 3/4" shank tighten to 150 ft/lbs For a 1" shank tighten to 250 ft/lbs, and for a 1-1/4 inch shank 450 ft/lbs.

  • Ball Mount for with More than 11 Inches of Rise to Tow Trailer Level with 2012 Toyota Sienna
What I recommend is to use Convert-A-Ball cushioned ball mount # AMSC12 and then add a high rise ball. The ball mount takes a ball with a 1 inch diameter shank. If the trailer coupler takes a 2 inch ball use high rise ball # C40034. If you need a 2-5/16 inch ball there isn't a high rise version that would fit so you would need to use a regular ball # 63847. If the coupler does take a 2 inch ball then # AMSC12 with # C40034 will provide you with approximately 12-3/4 inches rise and you...

  • High Rise Ball for Use with D210 Ball Mount on a 2011 Nissan Murano and Viking 2107 Camping Trailer
It really depends on what the tongue weight is going to be once the trailer is loaded and you have the accessory in the # D210 ball mount and loaded. Given that using the receiver part of the D210 means you are adding tongue weight going with the 2 inch high rise ball, # C40034, is going to be the better option. The D210 ball mount has 2 hitch pin holes; one at the shank and one at the accessory receiver. It takes a 5/8 inch pin such as # PC3 for a regular pin or # 7683 for a locking pin. I...

  • What Tool is Normally Used for Torqueing Down Hitch Balls
The amount of torque needed for the hitch ball you have installed on your Blue Ox weight distribution will be based on the hitch ball you have. Some require a great deal of torque like the Curt hitch balls like the # C40034 that require 450 ft lbs whereas some require less than that. We don't normally recommend impact wrenches but we do normally recommend longer torque wrenches. Since those can be expensive the best option might be to see if an auto parts store can loan you one.

  • How to Get a Little More Height When Installing the Stealth Hitches SH33VR
The Stealth Hitch # SH33VR will definitely fit your 2018 BMW 328d xDrive Sports Wagon, but the included ball will only get you to 18 1/2 inches when measuring from the ground to the top of the ball. I went through all our replacement parts for Stealth Hitches, but this will be the highest rise they offer. That being said, I did find an option that will get you to the needed height. The Curt Hitch Ball # C40034 will actually raise the ball up 2 more inches. This would replace the ball that...

  • Using a Ball Mount with More Rise Instead of a Hi-Rise Hitch Ball on a Class I or II Hitch
Like you said all of the hi-rise hitch balls have a larger shank diameter than 3/4 inches. They are all either 1 inch or 1-1/4 inch. But depending on how much total rise you need there may be a ball mount you can use that will get you close if not at the height you need. I have included a link below to our help article that shows how to measure to select a ball mount with the correct rise or drop. The Class I ball mount with the most rise is # C45028 with 5-3/8 inches rise. But it has...

  • Height of Curt 2 Hitch Ball # C40004
I went out to our warehouse to take a look at the Curt 2" Hitch Ball # C40004 that you referenced and I measured a height of 2-3/4" from the mounting base to the top of the ball. I have attached an image to assist. If this doesn't provide the height you need we also have the 2" ball available with an additional 1" rise with part # C40033 or an additional 2" rise with # C40034. These rise measurements would be added to the 2-3/4" height mentioned above.

  • Availability of High Rise 2 Inch Trailer Ball For Moving Trailer With Front Mounted Receiver
It sounds as if the Curt # C40034 high rise trailer ball is what you're looking for. This is a 2 inch ball with a 2 inch rise. The Curt # D-28 is a pretty long ball mount, the hitch pin hole to the closest portion of the ball platform is 8-1/4 inches, as shown in the provided diagram. You can measure from the hitch pin hole out to the closest edge of the bumper to see if the D-28 would provide enough clearance.

  • Trailer Hitch Ball with 5/8 Inch Diameter Shank for a Bad Boy Buggie UTV
First, you will want the shank of the ball to be the same as the hole in the ball mount. If you need a 5/8 inch shank on a ball then we have some options. For a 2 inch ball we have # CB-20Z. For a 1-7/8 inch diameter ball we have # C40095. As far as ball mount specific to your Bad Boy Buggie UTV you will want to check with the manufacturer to determine if you have to use a specific ball mount or if you can use any ball mount that fits.

  • Multipupose Ball Mount to Tow a Trailer and Bike Rack at Same Time that Doesnt have a Drop
You wouldn't want to use MaxxTow MT70070 anyway because it will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent. The Curt multipurpose ball mount # D210 is going to be the best option. To overcome the 2-1/4 inch drop you can use a ball with a rise such as # C40034. This is a 2 inch ball rated for 6,000 pounds. It has a 2 inch rise so the drop of the ball mount would only be 1/4 inch. We also have ball # C40033 with a 1 inch rise. If you require a 1-7/8 inch ball...

  • Replacement Hitch Ball to Increase Ball Height
It is always important to keep your trailer level when hitched to your tow vehicle and the two simplest ways to accomplish this are either a high-rise hitch ball such as the two you reviewed, parts # C40033 and # C40034, or a ball mount with the amount of rise you need. Either option will work. The hitch balls you referenced are shown in the linked photo; I have added the dimension above the mounting surface for each ball. • Gaining Rise With a Hitch Ball
You can get get a hitch ball with a 1 inch diameter shank that will give you 2 inches of rise with a 2 inch ball # C40034, though that is going to limit your towing capacity to 6,000 lbs. If you needed to stick with a 10,000 lb towing capacity, then you would need a new ball mount, # C45338 for 8 inches of drop, # AMSC6 for 6 inches of drop or if four inches of drop was needed, # AMSC4. I have added links to video reviews of each of these ball mounts for you to take a look at.

  • Best Ball Mount with 8 to 10 Inch Rise for Front Mount Trailer Hitch on a 2014 Ram 1500
The ball mounts that we carry that have enough rise do not have enough clearance to clear the front bumper on your 2014 Ram 1500. But I do have a possible solution for you. You could use Curt ball mount # D-28 which will provide 4 inches of rise. Then use Curt high rise ball # C40034 which will provide another 2 inches of rise for a total of 6 inches. This is a 2 inch ball. For the purposes of slow maneuvers in the driveway a 2 inch ball can be used with a 2-5/16 inch coupler. You would...

  • Does Hitch Ball Height Factor in to Determining Rise/Drop Calculation for Picking Out Ball Mount
When determining rise you don't need to factor in the height of the hitch ball unless it's a high rise ball. The rise calculation is done by taking the measurement from the top of the hitch opening down to the ground and comparing it to the distance from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler when sitting level. In relation to the ball mount the dimension would be from the bottom of the ball mount platform to the top of the shank of the ball mount like in the picture I attached. An...

That foot pound rating for torqueing a hitch ball onto a ball mount requires a special torque wrench. A local mechanic should have something compatible. If you can't find anyone with the correct torque wrench as many max out at 250 lbs, then we recommend using a breaker bar and pipe extension to at least ensure the lock washer is completely compressed to flat before use.
