Silence that obnoxious "clanking" noise that occurs while towing. This locking hitch pin adapts to any 2" ball mount or rack device. An insert fitted with a nut slides inside the ball mount to pull it tightly against the receiver tube.

Features:

  • Eliminates the "clanking" noise associated with hitch accessories
    • Small, anti-rattle nut insert fits inside the ball mount, bike rack or cargo carrier
    • Stainless steel threaded pin pulls the nut securely to the side of the receiver tube, reducing excess space between tube and ball mount
  • Protects the vehicle's powertrain by preventing the jerking motion that happens when starting and stopping while towing
  • Includes brass lock with rubber dust cover to block out debris

Specs:

  • Pin diameter: 5/8"
  • Inside width of lock: 3-1/2"
  • Compatibility: fits 2" ball mounts, bike racks and cargo carriers with a hollow shank

This hitch pin's unique design improves the towing experience by protecting the vehicle's powertrain and safely minimizing that annoying "clanking" sound. Engineered to fit 2" ball mounts, it features an anti-rattle nut enclosure that slides inside the ball mount. A 5/8" stainless steel threaded pin clinches the nut securely to the side of the receiver tube, reducing "wiggle room" between the tube and the ball mount. To prevent theft, the hitch pin includes a brass lock with a rubber dust cover to block out debris.

The insert piece fitted with a nut slides inside the ball mount or any other hitch accessory with a hollow shank. The pin clinches the nut securely to the side of the receiver tube to reduce excess slack between the tube and the ball mount.

Very well constructed! Easy to use. Absolutely no rattle at all.
Great shipping time. Very Satisfied!

by:

Removed rattle & all sway, Use on 2005 Chrysler with vertical hotch mount & Pin lock not removed all the rattle but controled my sway problem.Would recommend this product to anyone that pulls a trailer,or flat towes a vehicle. Thanks.

by:

My previous tow vehicle had a receiver with two pin holes so I used the hook style anti-rattle hitch pin (it worked great). This vehicle's receiver only has a single hole so I decided to try this anti-rattle hitch pin. A little expensive but it works great.

by:

I bought this product to keep my hitch mounted cargo carrier from moving around and to secure it so it couldn't be stolen. The carrier doesn't fit snug in the receiver so it rattles and wiggles up and down.
This hitch pin threads into a nut that is held inside the hollow tube that slides into the receiver. The nut is held inside by a rubber bushing that does a good job of lining the nut up with the hole and KEEPING IT THERE! The bolt threads through the nut making everything snug (no more noise or movement) and then the lock (seems heavy duty for a hitch pin) locks on the other end.

by:

I bought this an an add-on for a dual motorcycle carrier I've got. I've got a single motorcycle carrier and a bike rack that both came with similar threaded hitch pins and knew they worked well.

Anyway, when this new hitch pin assembly arrived, I was pleasantly surprized. It arrived at my door very quickly and is of excellent quality. The lock is waaaaay better than the other ones I have. Highly recommended for anyone that uses any sort of hitch mounted rack or carrier.

by:

Everything about this product is well designed with the exception of the rubber strip that attaches the 'cap' that covers the key entry location. The strip is very thin and my cap separated from it the first time I went to remove the cap so now it is held in place with a rubber band. I do like the fact that the lock has a sleeve that fits over the hitch pin and covers it all the way into the hitch. This effectively increases the diameter of the pin and rotates which should make it more difficult for anyone who might try to cut it off with a hack saw. It also means you may need someone to adjust the hitch shank to ensure the hitch pin is exactly centered. If it isn't, you can't get the sleeve over the pin and into the hitch and that prevents the lock from engaging.

by:

Great product, fit and finish. There is a trick to getting this little guy installed. Get the bolt near tight, where you still have play in the hitch. You need the play to get the silver shield on the top of the lock to enter the receiver so the lock can lock onto the pin. Once its locked onto the pin, tighten up the bolt and you are done. No wobble, nice and secure.

by:

What I like: Depending on the hitch and receiver you use, the hitch pin may do an excellent job in controlling sway : vertical and horizontal. What I am not entirely happy about: Depending on the hitch and receiver you use, the hitch pin may do an excellent job in controlling sway on the horizontal but not as much on the vertical. Also be careful about over tightening the bold to the anti-rattle assembly. It can twist the rubber stabilizing assembly a little bit. I think that may be the reason for the lack of vertical control. The problem is, my specific pin holes are a bit deep so I can't grab the assembly to line it up correctly. Also the lock sleeve maybe a little big for the pin hole so don't completely tighten the pin so you have a little wiggle room. However it is much better improvement over the standard pin with clip.

by:

I haven't been able to use this yet since it wouldn't work with the hitch extender that I purchased. Make sure your hitch extender has a hollow shank if you plan on using a locking, anti-rattle hitch pin. I will be purchasing a hollow-shank hitch extender that this locking anti-rattle pin should be good for. The lock seems very substantial.

by:

The lock flops but like the product

by:

I use this lock on the my Brophy 7 inch hitch adapter that is on my bike rack. Works! Easy on and off. No rattles or play after a year of use in rain, snow and sunshine cause it is so rugged. And I don't see how you could cut it off. You would need a torch. So it gives me security peace of mind on the road and overnight in hotel parking lots.

by:

Quality construction. The bolt is stainless and much thicker than other entitle pins of this design. The holder for the nut was a little large for my accessory but it’s plastic so it was easy enough to trim with tin snips and a sanding block. Does an excellent job of stopping any rattle or movement of the hitch accessory.

Glad to hear that you got it to work :) Thank you!

by:

Item arrived before arrival date. Part was very easy to install and worked better than expected. Took all the rattle away. Still need to test it with a loaded trailer to confirm the bolt doesn’t loosen up.

by:

Arrived quickly. Easy to install with the excellent video and instructions. I installed on my 2012 Forester with the Curt hitch I had previously purchased from etrailer. The locking hitch pin completely stopped my hitch rattle.

by:

Excellent product. And as always great customer service. I had to customize mine a little bit because of my specific application using an adapter to use 1in 1/4 accessory on a 2-inch hitch. I just had to shave a little plastic off of the nut holder.

  • Anti-Rattle Recommendation For Trailer Hitch Receiver
There are a couple of good anti-rattle options for you, but definitely do not drill a hole into the receiver as it can compromise it. So what you can do is either add a clamp-on style stabilizer, or an anti-rattle hitch pin lock, depending on the style you prefer: - etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Stabilizer for 2" Hitches # e99007 - Stainless Steel Locking, Anti-Rattle Threaded Hitch Pin for 2" Trailer Hitches # SR25219 I like the hitch pin because it gives you the benefit of a lock as well,...

Hey Charles, it sounds like you are wanting to use the hitch lock part # SR25219 as just a hitch lock and not use the anti-rattle portion at all. This is doable and would work fine but over time you might damage the threads and it wouldn't be able to be used as an anti-rattle device going forward.

The Thule Snug Tite Hitch Lock and Anti-Rattle Device, # THSTL2, is the only hitch pin lock that can be used with Thule bike racks. The racks and lock are both uniquely threaded to be compatible with each other so another lock, like the Softride Lock, # SR25219, that you have referenced will not work. That being said you can purchase other styles of anti-rattle devices that will work very well and you will not have to modify the hitch to install them. I would recommend the SoftRide anti-rattle hitch lock, part # SR25219, this lock has a nut that installs inside the hollow draw bar or shank of the hitch accessory and then, when the hitch pin lock is threaded into the hitch, the ball mount or shank is wedged to the side...
