Features to know about

Haul What You Need with Confidence: Class III Strength and 2" Receiver

This hitch is built to handle real work. With a 6,000 lb maximum gross trailer weight and 600 lb tongue weight, it’s strong enough for towing small campers, boats, or utility trailers. When used with weight distribution, those numbers climb to 10,000 lbs GTW and 1,000 lbs TW. The 2" x 2" receiver opening makes it compatible with most common towing accessories like ball mounts, cargo carriers, and bike racks.

Tackle the Install in Your Driveway: Bolt-On Design and Included Hardware

You don’t need a lift or a welder to mount this hitch. It bolts directly to the frame using the included hardware kit and the holes already in place. There’s no welding required, so you can install it with basic tools right in your driveway. Once it’s torqued down, you’re ready to hook up your trailer or accessory and get moving.

Keep It Looking Good for Years: Matte Black Powder Coat Finish

The matte black powder coat over a protective base layer keeps rust and corrosion at bay while giving the hitch a rugged carbide-like look. Unlike glossy finishes that show every scuff, this tough coating hides dirt and dings so it stays looking clean longer. The round-tube design also adds a bit of style without sacrificing strength.

Side-by-side comparison showing matte carbide black finish versus glossy black finish on trailer hitch surfaces, highlighting the rugged, low-glare appearance of the etrailer coating.

Close-up comparison of matte carbide black and glossy black hitch finishes, emphasizing texture and scratch resistance for etrailer trailer hitches.

Needed to replace my factory hitch on my 07 chevy silverado classic due to rust. I order this replacement one on a Monday and it was delivered by Wednesday and shipping was free.Great customer service. Hitch was a breeze to install. I did not lower my spare and was able to replace hitch and new wiring bracket and 7 way in about 40 minutes. Now I'm ready to haul my horse trailer and not worry about my rusted hitch giving out. Thanks e trailer

by:

Ordered on Wednesday and arrived on Friday installed on Saturday. Very easy to install, I did it by myself by using jack stands to prop the hitch in place under the Silverado but not having to jack the truck up. I felt like the hardest part of the whole install was getting the recommended torque on the bolts, but thanks to help of a cheater bar. The whole install including lowering the spare tire took 3 hours. I haven't used the hitch as of yet but I'm very confident it will be great! I plan on pulling my 5x8 wire mesh utility trailer. A second person would have been needed if I didn't have the Jack stands.

by:

you sent 6 bolts and now i need a cross member. only have 4 holes on frame but am missing on mt truck is the 2 bolts at the end of the hitch. a place to put them! but i have no holes to put the 6 bolts that i have. regards mark h. arrington

The hitch for my 2007 Chevy Silverado arrived in perfect condition. The instructions were very clear, informative and easy to understand. However, I happen to have a triple by-pass, four stents, an aorta pig valve, a pacemaker, and have been cautioned against over-exertion, so I opted to let my mechanic handle the actual installation. The end result looks Great! I plan to mount a wheelchair lift on it. The wheelchair and carrier together weigh in at 430 lbs. The hitch is rated to handle a maximum tongue weight 500 lbs., so I think I'll be safe if I don't hit the speed bumps too hard.

Fit perfect and hardware all worked gre at

The class 3 hitch is very nice. Beautiful welds and finish. Very solid and heavy duty. I'm really happy with the hitch.

The issue I had was I'm a DIY'er, emphasis on the "Y". So when it came time to install, I found myself under the truck, holding he hitch up with my knees as I fumbled around trying to get a new bolt into the welded on nut. I ended up using the original bolts to secure the hitch, then swapped the old bolts out for the new one by one.
The reason this worked was a chamfer on the old bolt. Made it very easy to find the threads and start the bolt. Attached is a picture. Overall the bolt looks pretty good after being under the truck for 15 years.

As I said the hitch itself is well made and I am very satisfied with what I bought. Maybe you can consider a slightly different bolt.

by:

Hitch was delivered on time, bolted right up, however the paperwork that got sent was for a subaru and my truck is a silverado, had it done within 20 mins by myself and didnt even have to drop the spare tire. overall happy

That sounds like a mistake on our end with the paperwork, as this hitch receiver does not fit a Subaru.

Fit great and is still working well after 1 year of use. Huge selling point for me was that this etrailer hitch is Made in the USA! Also installed a new wiring harness and brake controller from etrailer.com. Very happy with customer support and available tech info.

I installed the etrailer class lll trailer hitch to my 2006 Chevy Silverado in approximately 3 hours. Installation was an exact fit and the hitch rest just below and inside the bumper. I am extremely pleased with the product and will continue to do business with etrailer. Customer service with etrailer is A number one and the sales personal are very knowledgeable regarding their products. Thanks again etrailer!!!!!

I got this for my 2012 GMC Sierra and it fit great all mounting holes lined up and it's well made. I use to haul my mountain bike in bed of the truck. I now have a shell on it and use it for a weekend get away camper. Mounting the hitch I now use a Thule T2 XT Pro hitch mount bike rack and it makes an awesome set up.

The hitch receiver that I ordered was in stock and arrived at my house quicker than I expected. Removing the old hitch and installing the new one took about half an hour. The included hardware worked perfectly.

Ive been using this hitch for about a year and it has lived up to my expectations. The safety chain holes are big enough for my chain hooks to hook in them easily. My original equipment hitch was difficult to hook them into.

by:

High quality hitch, exact fit, easy install. Perfect

by:

The fit and finish were excellent. Bolted right up with no fuss. All hardware was included and the shipping box was some of the best packing I've ever seen. All items were secured in place inside the box with shipping staples preventing any movement of the items inside the box.

my bumper had been bumped so had trouble making it fit useing the instructions. loosened bumper completely loose and bolted hitch to frame first then pried bumper to fit last 2 bolts.

As good as the day I installed it. Very happy!

by:

Easy install and quick shipping

by:

It's an exact fit. I was able to install it on my own in 20 minutes. It is heavy, so be prepared to have a freind nearby because most of the struggle you'll have is threading the bolts, but my tip is to get one started under the bumper, then move on and repeat that until they're all started, then proceed to tighten it all down.
DO NOT FORGET to torque them down after tightening.
The picture I uploaded with this review shows it looks totally stock.

I absolutely recommend this hitch, eTrailer had the best price both for the hitch itself, AND for shipping.

It atill works very well. I use it a lot to pull a utility trailer. It has held up well and I think it will never fail.

I bought this trailer hitch to replace the one that was rusted out on my 07 Silverado since then I have put 10,000 miles on it hauling motorcycles, household goods, and lawn equipment between Florida, Ohio, Michigan, Vermont, and North Carolina. Installation was a snap, bolted on to original fittings. Couldn’t be happier!!

Thank you, EVERYONE at etrailer, for your outstanding customer service! Wow, I am so happy that I ordered my trailer hitch from your company. The hitch was a PERFECT fit for my Chevy Silverado. I installed the hitch by myself, in my driveway with no issues. All of the videos which pertained to my particular vehicle were very accurate and extremely helpful. The video that explained the importance of cleaning out the weld nuts and making sure the bolts threaded in properly prior to installation set the tone for the entire process going smoothly. My experience with your company and with the installation of my trailer hitch could not have been any better. I can tell there is a real family atmosphere at etarailer, and that is the type of company I enjoy dealing with. Thank you again for everything, I couldn't be happier with my experience. Keep up the great work. I wish you all the best.

  • Do Trailer Hitches Fit Multiple Years Of The Chevy Silverado
A lot of the trailer hitches available for the 2013 Chevrolet Silverado fit a span of over multiple years as long as the generation does not change. For example the etrailer.com Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e98849 fits 1999 - 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. I would need to know if the 2013 chevy Silverado is a half-ton, three quarter or 1 ton. I would also need to know the bed size and if the truck is a cab chassis model in order to tell you which trailer hitches fit which years.

Hi JD, great question and thank you for all of the helpful info! Based on the information you provided, it sounds like you have a standard 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 short bed pickup and not a 1500HD, but I do want to verify whether it is a regular pickup bed or a cab and chassis style work truck before locking in the hitch recommendation since that changes fitment quite a bit. The bed size does not matter for a frame mounted trailer hitch on a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, they will all work with both short and long bed models. The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e98849 is what I recommend as a pretty basic, no drill trailer hitch.
