Will a trailer hitch on a 1996 chevy silverado 1/2 ton fit on a 2004 chevy silverado 1/2 ton?

You will need a new hitch for your 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500. The frame changed starting in 1999 with the next model, so the hitch from your 1996 Silverado will not fit the 2004. The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98849 fits the 1999-2013 Silverado 1500 and would be a great choice for your truck.
