This is a heavy-duty receiver. In my opinion the truck frame will bend before this receiver. I may have like it better if the mounting wings fit over the frame rails, rather than bolt to the bottom. But there are probably good reasons it (and the factory unit) is made the way it is. I removed the stock hitch and was fairly impressed with it as well. But the B&W is definitely an upgrade.

I have a small beef with it though. For 50 cents B&W could have added the tabs which on the stock unit give a little center support to the sheet metal behind the license plate. Now those sheet metal tabs beg for support, although they are not structurally important.

Further, the stock hardware included 9/16" bolts, whereas this kit came with 1/2" bolts; albeit they appear grade 8. Why not retain the larger bolts? I did use my stock bolts.

Overall price was good, shipping free, quick and perfect. There is a lot to like. I think I am going to enjoy knowing this thing is on my truck.

Product fitment was spot on for my 09' Silverado 1500. The 3 piece design made installation a breeze. I didn't even have to remove the spare tire. It is very evident that heavy gauge steel is used in the construction of this hitch. This is my second B&W purchase and I am very pleased.

This item rocks. Replaced my Class 3 hitch on my 2005 Silverado. Easy install, easily allows me to pull my 7,600 lb boat and tri-axle trailer. Nice unit, and I highly recommend to anyone wanting to upgrade their stock GM hitch.

Hey Jose! While the weight capacity is 16,000 for the hitch your truck has a max of 12,500 lbs towing capacity, and it may be smaller than that depending on your specific model. You'll want to make sure you stick with whichever component in your towing set up that has the smallest capacity.

Fit like oem. But stronger and better. Would recommend buyin one from them and would do it again. Fast shipping and great customer service and support.

Easy install and quality hardware

Going on 2 years installed and this hitch is great! It has fared pretty well with upstate NY winters and road salt. Just started rusting a little bit. I towed with it recently and everything went great. It’s a solid hitch

Still looks great, I packed the part where the hitch goes in with some good, tacky grease for the winter to prevent further rusting. Hitch still looks new.

by:

Great product, installs exactly how it says it does, however the weight of the product online is slightly misleading (weight on strainer and on B&W) it weighs around 110lbs it is not possible for one person to install alone. GREAT PRODUCT

Hitch is very solid and assembly is not too complex. Overall I'm pleased with the result.

Installation was mostly trouble free but the holes for the bolts in the hitch did not line up perfectly. The existing 14mm bolts bately jad enough clearance to get the bolts started without crossthreading anything. The key is to leave everything loose until all the bolts have been started.

The directions are not very useful and have several errors hence only 4 stars. The drawing is too small to identify the parts and the part numbers for several parts are wrong. I noted the following mistakes in the instructions:
1. The bolts to hold the driver's side plate on are labeled as part 2 when they should be part 6
2. The lock washers on the both the driver's side plate snd passenger's side plate are listed as part 6 when they should be part 8

Also the torque specifications are too high. For the 1/2" fasteners 80 ft-lbs feels like it is on the verge of stripping the threads in the nut. The bolts may be better than SAE grade 2 but the nuts don't look or feel like more than grade 2 so I stopped at 50 ft-lbs. This still feels too close to stripping the nut. For the existing 14 mm bolts 135 ft lbs was definitely enough to strip one of the nuts. I only tightened the second nut to 100 ft lbs and had to order a new 14 mm nut and bolt to teplace the one that stripped out. All the bolts take the trailer load in shear so you only need enough torque to keep the nuts from backing out.

Orher than the instructions the kit worked well. You will need a socket extension to reach some of the nuts and bolt heads and a backup wrench. In one case I had to tighten the bolt instead of the the nut.

It works great now that it is installed and installation wasn't too bad but could be better with accutate instructions.

Excellent and well built product. Easy to install in my driveway and by my 68 year old self without jacks or lifts. It’s heavy but that bad. If you lower the spare tire, it can be used as a base to lay the receiver on. The only difficulty I had was modifying the hanger brackets for my custom exhaust which used the same frame holes as the receiver.
Instruction were clear and listed all the tools you will need. Torque wrench can be rented from any auto parts store for free. Having a 1/2” battery powered impact helps remove the old receiver bolts.

by:
2007 Chevrolet Silverado New Body

Fits as it should comes with all necessary hardware only thing is if you have after market exhaust you may have to cut it off and route it a different way. Other than that I'm pulling a 28 foot travel trailer with a short wide chevy with weight distribution, pulled great.

Well made and fit perfect. Would buy ag ain.

I love that hitch! I have had it on my truck for 1 full year and it doesn't even show any signs of wear at all. I tow alot of things behind my truck quite a bit! The downfall is, I totaled the truck that it is on. But the upside to it, I'll be transferring it to my new truck. Which is a 4 year difference and it all looks like the same type of mount from the old truck. Highly recommended and would refer this hitch bar to anyone!!!! Thank you again! Well worth the price by far.

by:

Well built and fit perfectly

Awsome company very easy to order and a timely delivery would highly recommend

The B&W Trailer hitch Receiver I purchased was designed for perfect alignment to match the factory made holes in the chassis of my 1999 Chevrolet extended cab pick-up truck. If you are installing this by yourself, I recommend you enlist the help of a friend to help install the first two bolts. The rest is easy and straight forward.

Chevrolet Silverado

I have had this hitch receiver for over a year and have pulled some pretty hefty loads without any problems. It lined up perfectly for mounting on a extended cab, 8 foot bed Silverado. Item is well built from quality material and has some weight to it. Installing was easy especially if you have another set of hands to help you. I have no complaints.

2018 Chevrolet Silverado

I bought this hitch to replace the factory hitch on my 2018 Silverado 1500. the factory hitch was rater at 1200lbs tongue weight and 12,000lbs towing capacity. My Airstream trailer has a tongue weight of 1160lbs loaded. This new hitch is rated at 1600lbs tongue weight, and 16,000lbs towing capacity. this made me much more comfortable on a 9,000 mile trip immediately after the installation.
the install was very easy. removing the old hitch and installing the new one in about 1 hour total time at home. Excellent fit and finish on this product. Thanks etrailer.

2010 Chevrolet Silverado

If I could give this more than 5 stars I would.
I own a 2010 Silverado 1500 LTZ with Z71 tow package and tow a 20 foot enclosed trailer that's a workshop. The original class III hitch hasn't let me down but I can very easily, and often do run right at the tongue weight limit while using an Equalizer weight distribution hitch. Since the front of the trailer has all the cabinets, tools, and 400ah worth of lead acid batteries, having 1200 pounds tongue weight is almost unavoidable even with my generator stored toward the back. Before something goes terribly wrong, I decided the factory hitch had to go.

Both the B&W and the Reese class V with 2 inch receiver had the specs I was looking for but ultimately I knew the Reese was a complete overkill, plus I prefer the more hidden appearance of the B&W. The box arrived and it looked simple enough but I didn't fully appreciate it until I removed the original hitch. I simply cannot convey how pitiful the stock class III hitch is in comparison to the B&W. My initial thought was that I couldn't believe this hitch survived this long without bending and twisting the round hollow tube that spans the mounts. I have foolishly trusted it with far more weight than I should everytime I tow.
The B&W is puts it to shame and easily weighs twice as much. The side mounting plates are probably 3x as thick, receiver opening far longer and cross member is so brutally strong I actually feel like my truck frame would distort before this hitch would fail.

Peace of mind, plenty of strength to spare and fit my truck without any interference or clearence issues. All this and its completely inconspicuous. I think it's more hidden than the stock hitch due to its design. If I ever sold the truck I'd take this off and keep it.

In every way it exceeded my expectations. The price was unbeatable and etrailer provided free shipping! If you

2017 Chevrolet Silverado

I purchased this hitch to replace the factory installed hitch on my 2017 Silverado. I needed a hitch with a higher tongue weight rating. This new B&W hitch was shipped promptly and arrived in perfect condition. Installation was simple and straight forward. The construction of the hitch is outstanding, with heavy gauge steel reinforcing gussets and beefy continuous welds. This is exactly what I was shopping for and is a tremendous improvement over my original factory hitch. I will be towing a Forest River Surveyor 251RKS with a gross weight of approx. 7,000 pounds and a tongue weight of about 1,200 pounds.

by:

Hitch works just about flawlessly. The only con is the safety chain holes. They could be about 1/4" larger. I have a hard time getting my chain hooks with safety latches on and off. I have to force the safety latch to open because they get caught on the hitch.

There are heavy-duty Class V trailer hitch receivers that fit your 2004 GMC Sierra 2500 LD, though the hitch you mentioned is only a fit for the 2500HD model. You always need to be hauling under the tongue weight limit of your components. As long as the downward force on the hitch doesn't exceed 940lbs you will be okay to haul but you need to check your tongue weight of your trailer. Since you already checked your tongue weight and it's over the 940lb limit you will need to either shift the load around, remove some items off the trailer or use another trailer. Keep in mind you should have about 60% of your load evenly centered over the front...
