Rear Suspension Support

Towing or hauling a heavy load can cause rear sag as your factory suspension compresses under the weight of the load. This means that the rear axle is trying to support not only the extra load but also the weight of your vehicle. And because there is less weight on your front axle, your front tires make less contact with the road, which causes problems with traction, steering, and braking. SumoSprings upgrade your vehicle's factory suspension to level your vehicle, improve driving performance, and keep your ride comfortable.

Installed spring when it is not compressed

SumoSprings provide progressive load control - the more you load them, the stiffer they become. With a lighter load, the springs will compress easily for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. The closed-cell urethane material allows for smooth contact between the springs and your vehicle. And the springs act like a shock absorber to dampen road vibration.

Installed spring when it is compressed

The springs can also compress by as much as 80 percent to support a heavy rear load and to help your factory suspension bear up under the load. This evens out the weight, which levels your vehicle and ensures that your front tires are making better contact with the road. A level ride means that you have improved driving control, ensures safe headlight aim, and helps to minimize sway. The springs also support your factory suspension, which helps prevent sagging and reduces bottoming out.

The springs work independently from one another to support each side of your vehicle. This action helps to reduce body roll when you make a sharp turn. This also helps compensate for an off-center load.

Durable, Custom-Fit Springs

These microcellular urethane springs are tough. They resist abrasion, oil, salt, and UV rays that can more quickly wear out other springs, and they perform well in temperatures ranging from -25 F to 200 F (-33 C to 93 C).

SumoSprings compress vertically with minimum expansion to the sides, so they won't be damaged by nearby mechanical parts and they fit safely into tighter spots. And unlike air springs, SumoSprings require no maintenance or adjustment.

The helper springs are custom designed to fit your vehicle, and they install easily - no drilling required.

  • Towing Capacity and Recommended Upgrades for 2017 Ford F-250 to Pull 5th Wheel Trailer
The first thing I recommend doing is simply making sure that your 2017 Ford F-250 has the towing capacity needed to pull the Grand Design Solitude 373FB Trailer. There are a variety of aftermarket components that will allow the truck to operate better and easier within its towing limits, but nothing that can actually increase the towing capacity set by the Ford. Based on my research the Grand Design Solitude 373FB has a GVWR of 16,800 pounds. This is the most it can weigh when fully loaded....

  • Comparing SumoSpring Options for 2020 Ford F-350 Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer
Really the only difference is that the SumoSprings # SSR-127-47 have a 1,500 lb weight capacity while the SumoSprings # SSR-127-54 have a weight capacity of 2,800 lbs. So one just offers more support for your 2020 Ford F-350 and would offer better performance for heavier loads. Since your 5th wheel has a pin weight of about 2,500 lbs I recommend going with the kit # SSR-127-54 so that this can help with all of the pin weight. It's important to note that all suspension enhancement systems...

  • SumoSprings for 2023 Ford F-250 Towing Winnebago Voyage
Hi Tim; the yellow SumoSprings # SSR-127-54 will be able to handle that weight but it sounds like you will be really close to their limit. Between the tongue weight, truck bed weight, and the long distance towing I think you would be better off adding the SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs # SSR-128-47-2. These have a higher 5,000 lb capacity which would be better for your application. They also have a 2 piece design which gives a smoother ride when you aren't towing or hauling....

Here is a list of the bump stop replacements we have which fit your 2024 Ford F-350. • Recommended Sump Springs For A 2023 Ford F-350 Pulling a 12,000 lb Rv With 1,200 lbs TW
Hello George, I definitely recommend going with the 2,800 lb Sumo Springs # SSR-127-54 for your 2023 Ford F-350. With your trailer being around 1,200 lbs of tongue weight we would be pushing the 1,500 lb springs pretty close to capacity and you may not see quite a much benefit as you would with the higher rated springs. I believe the # SSR-127-54 will do a better job supporting the load and improving your ride quality. It will also be an easy bolt-on install.

  • How To Determine The Correct Capacity SumoSpring For A 2022 Ford F-250
Suspension enhancements don't increase the capacity of the suspension and are typically chosen based on the load that the truck will be handling. Too high of a capacity tends to give you a rough ride quality when unloaded because the enhancement is too stiff. Too low of a capacity and you'll have sag, uneven wear on your suspension, and bad handling. SumoSprings offer a much softer progression so they're one of the best options to handle the load and still give you a good unloaded ride...

  • Which SumoSpring Kit for 2022 Ford F-350 Towing Fifth Wheel Trailer
For your 2022 Ford F-350 Tremor towing a 12k fifth wheel I would go with the yellow SumoSprings kit part # SSR-127-54 which is going to give you the best blend of ride quality and suspension support. Black would be too light duty and blue would be too heavy duty and be harsh.

  • Best Non-Air Lift Suspension Enhancement for 2022 Ford F-250 Super Duty 4WD
To give your 2022 Ford F-250 Super Duty some additional support, both of the Sumo Springs and Timbrens would be great options. The Sumo Springs Solo Custom Helper Springs - Rear Axle # SSR-127-54 are made of a durable, high-density microcellular urethane and have a 2,800 lbs weight capacity, though they will not increase your vehicle's weight-carrying capacity. • Comparing The Solo And Rebel SumoSprings Options For 2022 Ford F-350 Super Duty
Between the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-127-54 and the SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs # SSR-128-40-2, I do prefer the Rebel. The Rebel's 2 piece design allows for better compression and movement with the axle, giving you a better and more comfortable ride. The higher capacity, though pretty small, does also lend itself towards more heavy duty trucks, like your 2022 Ford F-350. This means they will suit your needs better and will be the better option. I also like...

  • Recommended Suspension Enhancement For A 2022 Ford F-350 Dually
I can certainly point you in the right direction. I agree with you that the 2,800 sumo springs # SSR-127-54 will not be enough for the kind of weight you are pulling with your 2022 Ford F-350. They may help slightly with sagging, but you would be overloading the springs and that is never recommended. A Timbren # TFR350SDJ would be much more appropriate for this application. These are 8,600 lb capacity rubber springs which will absolutely help eliminate sagging, and improve your ride quality...

  • Recommended SumoSprings For A 2022 Ford F-350 Super Duty Towing A 5th Wheel Trailer
I would recommend the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-127-54 for your 2022 Ford F-350 Super Duty. This kit has a weight capacity up to 2,800 pounds so with your fifth wheel trailer having a pin weight of around 2,500 pounds this will be the best option. The SumoSpring kit has a no drill installation. If you...

You would indeed get a softer ride using the Sumo Springs # SSR-127-54 as opposed to the Timbren # TFR250SDJ. The Sumo Springs offer 2800 lbs of support versus the 8600 lbs offered by the Timbren springs. Given that the pin weight of your 5th wheel wouldn't be more than 2000 lbs, the Sumo Springs will be absolutely perfect, providing the proper amount of support with a better ride quality than what you experienced with the Timbrens. • What are the Best Rear Sumo Springs for my 2016 Ford F-250?
For your 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty there are two SumoSprings options that fit your truck like you mentioned. There's the 2,800 lb kit part # SSR-127-54 and the 1,500 lb kit part # SSR-127-47. Basically you want to go with the lightest duty kit that will work for your application. Going heavier than you need will give you a harsher ride quality than you'll want loaded and unloaded. For your application where the truck will be under constant load, jounce-style springs are a good option. I recommend going with the higher rated SumoSprings, # SSR-127-54. These have a 2,800 pound capacity and will do a really great job of bringing the truck back to level and smoothing out your overall ride. This is a simple no-drill installation and once they are in place you don't need to worry about performing any maintenance or making any adjustments to the springs.

The SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs part # SSR-127-54 with a 2,800 lb capacity are the springs you need to help with the rear sag of your 2019 Ford F-250. The stronger 2,800 lb capacity is what you need to handle the 1700 lb pin weight. The springs will work well to level out the ride but they are made from a lighter weight micro-cellular spring. This will provide you a smoother ride overall but especially when you're vehicle is not loaded. • Determining if 1 or 2 Spacers Should Be Used With SumoSprings On a 2020 Ford F-350
The SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-127-54 includes 2 1/2" thick spacers which will allow you to dial in the ride quality on your 2020 Ford F-350. It is recommended to use at least one of the spacers while the 2nd spacer can be used if you are more concerned about reducing as much sag as possible. As these springs are progressive the additional spacer will provide more stability with your load. In the end the spacers(1 or 2) are entirely dependent on your preference.

That's a good question, but the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-127-54 that fit your 2020 Ford F-350 are not going to bottom out despite the fact you have more than the 2,800 lb capacity rating of the springs. That weight rating is just the amount of weight it takes to compress the spring down to 50 percent of its original height. The added weight you are putting on them will not bottom them out and they'll still be beneficial to your truck when towing your 5th wheel.
