The spare tire mount that came with our motorhome was not strong enough to securely hold the heavy spare tire. etrailer recommended the Mount-n- Lock HiLo Hitch receiver and the etrailer Hitch Mounted Spare Carrier and the combination worked out very nice for us. My husband and I are in our mid 70's and we were to do the instillation ourselves with the help the inclosed directions and some online videos. The hardest part was lifting the heavy spare tire onto the carrier.
The bent angle of the holder was causing the tire to touch the back of my trailer. Had to get a welder to cut and straighten it enough so it wouldn’t rub against fiberglass of trailer.
Awesome product. fit perfectly nest to my tailgate, no rocking from the tire and set up was quick. Most important accessory for my recent truck trip to Alaska. Worth every penny!
Has been great for our trailer spare carrier. A good quality product that is well built and recommend this tire carrier.
No problem installing; however, getting bolts lined up requires 2 people initially. Allegedly after first mount the bolts should stay in right place making mounting much easier.
Built well. Only thing I would change would be. Because I am a man I did not look closely was thinking the yellow alinement tool was a stabilizer so if the website for things like this were more idiot proof that that would be good!
I have ordered many items from etrailer have never been disappointed.
Overall fabrication of the carrier appears to be of very high quality; all welds (visually are excellent) as is the powder coating. I have yet to actually install the carrier into the Entegra Qwest's 2 inch receiver, but I will be surprised if the fit is not as it should be (I'll update this review if there are any fitment issue(s). My reason for the 3 star rating is the fact that the carrier's slotted mounting configuration will not accommodate the 6 bolt pattern of a stock Sprinter 3500 wheel. I had to fabricate a plate that would allow affixing the spare tire assembly to mount to the carrier with four INSTEAD of two mounting bolts that the furnished carrier would only accommodate. If I was using this on a wheel that the carrier's "universal" mount would accommodate, I'm sure that this would have been a 5 star rating. However, if you need a mount for a 3500 Sprinter wheel this is NOT recommended.
Good build quality. I use an old hitch clamp on it to stop any rattling.
took it over to my tire guy and it appears it will work well for my application on my sprinter C class. 2 months camping on the Baja this winter will be a wonderful thing.

The holes that secure the hitch are not round. They are half moon shaped. I will need to drill them out. Did not expect that.
This does not work on my RV. With the spare tire mounted, it hit the back of teh RV. Insertinto receiver needs to be about 6-8 inchs longer. Getting an extention, hope it will work.

Bracket will work for me. Seems well made. The only thing I didn't like is that the mounting plate doesnt sit flat against the wheel because the upright hits the edge of the wheel. I think its attached well enough. I guess this is because it fits a variety of wheel sizes.
Good robust quality tire mount - as many others commented, it is quite difficult to attach the spare tire onto the mount.
Arrived well packaged. The instructions were clear and all the parts are included. Only negative for me was that it was difficult to seat the carriage bolts and tighten the lock nuts.

Sweet set-up Michael, looks like you are about to go out and mess things up! What kind of adventures are you going on?
Very well made however the hardware included with the carrier leaves a lot to be desired the washers are not as one would assume. They do not hold the bolts where you want them. What I did is as I have read others have done is make a template of my bolt pattern then transferred that to an old license plate and drilled holes and replaced the cheap washers with nuts.I then bought longer bolts bolted this all to the carrier and then when I put my 50# tire on there the bolts are where I need them to be then use 1/2"-13 lugs nuts. My trip is then worry free.
Found my spare tire hitch option for my RV Forest River Forester 2351LE. Fits great and able to mount my LT225/75 R16 spare tire on it. Gen-Y hitch P/N GH-104217. Initially worried the top of the tire mount would hit the bumper but installed with 1" clearance.
Product quality made. Unfortunately it does not fit on my 2019 Ram without an extension on it. The angle of the tire mounting plate will not allow spare to fit and hits the grill of the Ram.
I had to buy an extension because the carrier's leg was to short, the tire hit the back of my Montana 5th wheel. I also no not like this tire carrier's way of connection to the receiver with a flat sided bolt. This system prevents the use of a secure connection with a locking bolt.
This was exactly what we needed. It is very well-made and it sits nicely into the hitch with absolutely no wobble. The only reason I gave it four stars was because of the difficulty in aligning the bolts to attach the spare tire. They are free floating so they can be setup for a variety of tires. But this makes it very difficult to align the bolts and try to tighten at the same time. I solved this by making a paper template of the holes from my spare tire. Then I bought 3 jam nuts and 3 washers to secure the bolts into position before lifting the tire in place. Now that the bolts are secured in the right alignment it will be easy to remove and replace the tire in the future. It would be a very simple thing to add these instructions and supplies to the kit.

A year out and one camping season in the books. The spare tire has stayed secure and no issues encountered. We put on a tire cover to protect from the sun. Thankfully we have not needed to use it. But the peace of mind that we can made for less stressful travel.
I have an older travel trailer 1991. The reciever hitch is an after market bolt on one. So I did end up cutting 3 inches off the end of this mount so that it slid in farther and I could access the hole for the pin. That also helped move the tire closer to the camper so it didnt stick way out. Other than that modification it's going to work great for us and is very sturday and we'll built. Ive purchased many things and haven't been disappointed yet. I love etrailer.com!

The etrailer Item #e98ZR was delivered onetime and in great shape. It was built more heavier duty than I expected and mounted easily and solidly with absolutely no wobbles.
