Can The etrailer Spare Tire Carrier e98ZR Carry An Audi Wheel On The Back Of An Airstream TT?

Question:

I have a 2025 Audi Q7 and am looking at acquiring an extra wheel for travels. I pull a 21ft Airstream travel trailer with an after market 2inch hitch installed to the back of the trailers frame.. What is the weight of this spare tire mount? Will it handle the extra stress hitched to the back of a travel trailer? Can I mount an Audi Q7 185/45R20 wheel and tire to it with the hardware provided? Audi is somewhat specific on the capabilities of the hitch on their vehicles, can it be used on the Audi Q7 2inch receiver? Thank you

Hi Mike!

The etrailer Spare Tire Mount for Hitch - 2" Hitch # e98ZR can definitely be used on the back of a travel trailer as it only weighs a little over 20 pounds. We actually have people do that pretty often and I have an image of someone doing just that attached.

As to your Audi's hitch, I don't see any reason it wouldn't. This fits a standard 2" receiver and that looks to be what your 2025 Audi Q7 comes with. The wheels Audi uses for your Q7 looks to use the 5x112mm bolt pattern and this will also work perfectly fine with that, so it sounds to me like this will work perfectly on your camper and/or your vehicle. ^___^

Sounds good, I mistyped the wheel and tire size it is actually 285/45R20. Can the mount handle the deep tire? We drive off the main roads and often find ourselves in remote areas where service is not readily available. Thank you, Mike

@MikeB That won't be a problem at all. We have people with full size trucks, large 5th wheels, and even large RVs use this to carry their spare tire, so you will be perfectly fine! ^___^
