Can I Use Your etrailer Spare Tire Carrier with an Adapter to Take My 1 1/4" Hitch Receiver to a 2"?

Question:

I have a 2025 CRV Hybrid. Because it doesnt come with a spare the battery pack is in that space, I purchased a Modern Spare tire. The trailer hitch OEM is 1.25. Could I used an adapter with the etrailer spare tire mount? Thanks

Yes, you can use an adapter like our Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" # e43YR with our etrailer Spare Tire Mount for Hitch - 2" Hitch # e98ZR.

With any adapter that goes from a 1 1/4" to 2" it will cut your tongue weight in half. You will need to look at the sticker on your hitch to see what the hitch is rated for, then divide that in half. The # e98ZR is around 20.5 pounds, so you will need to add that to the weight of the spare tire to see if your hitch can handle it with the adapter.

I am still amazed how a lot of new vehicles do not come with a spare tire.
