Will the etrailer Hitch Spare Tire Carrier # e98ZR Fit a 2024 Ford F-250 Factory Wheel?

Updated 05/27/2026 | Published 05/19/2026

Question:

2024 F250 275/70R18 85lb spare. Will stock wheels 8x170mm pattern work? Specs on the 2 horizontal slots end to end? Given product width is 7.5inch guessing horizontal slot ends are ~6.5? I have seen a couple of Q/As on 8x6.5, but need to make sure before I order. -ken

Hello Ken,

Thanks for writing in.

Yes, the etrailer Spare Tire Mount for Hitch # e98ZR will work with the factory 8 on 170 mm wheels on your 2024 Ford F-250. The adjustable mounting slots and hardware are compatible with the Super Duty bolt pattern, including your factory 18 inch wheel and 275/70R18 spare tire.

The horizontal mounting slots on the carrier measure approximately 6-1/2 inches long, and the mounting studs slide within those slots to accommodate larger bolt patterns like the Ford 8 on 170 mm setup. Even though some of the Q&A examples reference 8 on 6-1/2 patterns, the adjustability of the carrier allows it to fit the wider Super Duty pattern as well. I attached an image of a larger wheel on the carrier.

Your spare tire weight at roughly 85 lbs is also well within the carrier’s 200 lb capacity, so you will not have any issue there. We have confirmed this carrier works with factory F-250 wheels, so you can order with confidence.

If you are planning to keep the spare mounted full time, it is also a good idea to double check rear clearance for parking sensors or tailgate access depending on your hitch setup. What are you getting the truck geared up for, camping trips, towing, or some off-road adventures?

Kate, Sorry to hear this. Spoke with Jeremy 2 days ago and it was a no go/fit on 8x170mm pattern. Told me the Roadmaster RM-195225 would work. Anyway, found a used Wilco Solo and am going with it. Better choice anyway as I can mount 2 RotoPax with Wilco's mounting plate. Suggest your site indicate fitment info for items such as this one rather than me trying to read all QAs trying to guess if it might fit. And then having to ask anyway and get 2 polar opposite answers. To answer your last question, 3+ month road trip to Alaska. Roll Me Away as Bob says..... Best, -ken

@Ken I am very sorry that Jeremy told you that, but glad you found a different option that will work for you. I agree, we should have a list of lug patterns that fits this wheel, I am going to talk to the team and see why we do not. I appreciate your feedback. Alaska is definitely on my bucket list, I have had many friends go and tell me how breathtaking it is. Would love to just go hike everywhere I can =)
