Hey Roy, to lock the hitch pin of the etrailer Spare Tire Mount for Hitch # e98ZR that you referenced you can use the etrailer D-Shape Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock part # e43JR.

Hi Roy. I put a cable through the receiver on the rv and ran it through the holes in the rim and put a padlock. We had no problem with it going cross country. Hope this helps

I ordered a “D” shaped locking pin from e trailer to lock the carrier to the receiver tube. It fits well in the opening. I use a short chain and padlock to secure the spare tire to the carrier. It took some searching to find the locking pin.

We bought a thick bike chain/lock and wove it through the holes in the wheel and then around the hitch and the bumper. Bought a locking hitch pin to put through the hole in the receiver through the hole in the tire mount. Works great.

Roy, what I did was buy a Kryptonite bike lock and run it thru the wheel to the carrier. I also ran the thickest bike cable lock I could find and ran that thru the wheel, carrier and down to the hitch. Put a tire cover over it to hide and keep it all clean and your good to go. The hitch does not have a lock and you would have to drill to make it bigger for a lock hitch pin. The nut keeps it snug, no rattles or bounce, and it makes it tougher for someone to get a saw blade in there. Carry a wrench in your tire change kit. If someone wants to steal that heavy Class C wheel. tire, hitch setup as a whole, they can have it.
