Question:

Kyle Looking to add a spare tire carrier to my 2023 Jayco Greyhawk 27U. This looks to be a good solution. I tow a Jeep, so I don’t want to reduce my tow capacity. The E450 wheel won’t be too heavy? I looked into mounting the spare underneath but it doesn’t appear to fit. Also looked into putting a hitch on the front, but didn’t see anything to fit a 2023. Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks

Hey Kyle, how did the setup with the bumper hitch and spare tire carrier work out on your Greyhawk? It’d be great to hear if the combo handled the weight well while towing your Jeep. Your update could make it easier for the next person with the same setup.

@JamesonC Initially it worked well. But over time the vibrations from the tire (weight) caused fatigue failure in the welds where the bumper attached to the frame. I noticed it before serious damage was done. Thought about tethering the tire to the ladder to dampen the vibration, but can’t afford to damage the ladder. Looking at a Roadmaster spare tire carrier as a replacement. Had 2 flats in - 18,000 miles, so spares have become a necessity.
