Features to know about

Keeps Your Trailer Level: 7" Rise or 8-1/4" Drop

Getting the trailer height right makes all the difference in how it tows. The Curt Ball Mount #C45338 gives you both a 7" rise and an 8-1/4" drop so your trailer stays level whether you’re pulling a camper, boat, or utility hauler. The shank measures 9-3/8" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole, giving plenty of room for smooth hookups without throwing off your balance.

Built for Heavy Loads: 10,000 lbs GTW Capacity

When you’re hauling something that pushes the limits, you want a mount that can handle it without flexing or fuss. This one’s rated for 10,000 lbs gross towing weight and 1,000 lbs tongue weight. Its sturdy steel construction and fixed design keep things solid under pressure, whether you’re towing a full trailer or heavy equipment.

Resists Rust and Road Grime: High-Gloss Black Powder Coat

Between weather, salt, and road debris, towing gear takes a beating. The corrosion-resistant black powder coat on this Curt mount protects the steel underneath while keeping a clean look over time. It’s made to stay smooth and rust-free after miles of use in tough conditions.

Simple, Straightforward Setup: Fits Standard 2" Hitch Receivers

No guesswork here—slide the shank into any 2" x 2" hitch receiver, line up the holes, and secure it with a 5/8" hitch pin and clip (sold separately). The ball platform has a 1-1/4" diameter hole and is 3/4" thick, fitting common hitch balls like the 2" #A-90 or 2-5/16" #19286. Once it’s mounted, you’re ready to tow with confidence.

Curt Ball Mounts
Code: C45336

by:

Works as expected - made well. Amount of drop was just right to make my trailer level when towing.

by:

I have used etrailer for many products and goods. They have excellent products and information specific for your vehicle.

by:

This product works as described. I used it in the rise position with a 2 5/16 ball to pull a 40ft bumper pull RV that weighs about 8000lbs.

by:

Perfect fit exactly what I needed. I have a light duty adjustable hitch that I worried was inadequate. I purchase this for the rating and reassurance that I was safe towing my heavy trailer and tractor.

by:

Excellent customer service. Items purchased were exactly as described and pictured on their website. These items will meet my towing needs perfectly. The business even upgraded my shipping without additional costs which provided for faster shipping and delivery. Would recommend them for all your towing needs.

by:

This drop hitch is well made and has a nice protective finish. We just bought a much bigger truck and the drop will allow towing of my smaller trailer nice and level. The specified amount of drop is accurate.

by:

Very Happy with the quick shipping and excellent product. Thanks etrailer!!!

by:

Received my ball mount and everything was intact.
Is just what I expected. Looks sturdy and well built.

Great. Even after I purchased a different truck, I was able to make it fit by minor adjustments to it. Customer service was very helpful picking the right tool for the job.

by:

This drop hitch rated at 10,000 lbs is so much cheaper than anyone around me and the quality is excellent. I've used etrailer for several purchases over the years they always deliver. I'm always impressed with their selection and pricing. On this last order they upgraded my shipping and I received my order 4 days earlier than expected.

by:

After a year the mount shows no wear at all I would recommend this product to any one needing a good hitch mount, with a large rise and drop.

by:

Excellent service and fast shipping!

Great

by:

Purchased a hitch and ball from eTrailer. The information and videos on the website were very useful. The products were shipped out the same day and everything was received promptly as advertised. Very satisfied.

by:

I love ordering from etrailer. Easy to find what I'm looking for and it gets here quick. Everything they carry is great quality from my experience so far. I needed yet another drop hitch for my truck this time for a 2 5/16' ball. Great price for something that is rated 10k pounds.

by:

I had to flip this upside down and put a hitch ball on this to get it to work with my Dodge Journey and my camper. It's held up without issue for a half-dozen camper pulls. I wish the paint hadn't already started flaking off at the receiver end, but that's to be expected when you connect metal to metal. The other parts of this haven't started flaking yet after a year so hopefully it continues to hold up.

by:

Great product, fair price, excellent service and fast shipping. Great experience, thanks etrailer.com!

very well

by:

completely satisfied , good shipping, good products . I use the 2 inch hitch and 2 inch ball about every week on my jeep grand cherokee . I use the trailer dolly to park the utility trailer behind the shed.by using the trailer dolly I don't have to drive the jeep on the lawn. (sorry I don't have pictures to send.)

by:

Worked really well - Jeep Grand Cherokee has a high back bumper - Kayak trailer is low to the ground and we like to pull it level.

Working well - use it most every weekend.

by:

Was needing a 7-8 inch ride for my camper that could sustain a GVW of at least 5000 lbs. Let me say, it’s a hard to find item. Thankfully I called Etraer and with some research, found me the perfect ball mount. It’s heavy duty for a reasonable price.

Still perfect!

by:

Very droppy drop hitch, strong and pret ty.

by:

The hitch was able to perform as I had intended it to. However instead of using it as a drop I am using it as a rise and it would have been better if I had a 10 inch rise. I am using a front hitch (which I also got from etrailer) to maneuver a trailer into a tight parking space.

Very nice item....!

by:

This is a great drop hitch for my lfted truck, very great experience dealing with Etrailer in all aspects of my order, will definitely order everything I can from them in the future.

by:

Very heavy and solid. Works perfect for my needs. Hard to find a vertical rise that worked for my trailer, and this is fine.

  • Ball Mount for 2023 Ram 2500 Towing Cattle Trailer
Hi Charles; based on your measurements you need an 8-3/4" drop for your ball mount. Do you want a fixed ball mount? Assuming you do, you can use the Curt Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 7" Rise, 8-1/4" Drop # C45338. This has a 10,000 lb capacity so it will be able to handle the trailer with animals. For a 2" ball you can use the # A-90. If you would prefer an adjustable ball mount I recommend the B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount # BW78SR which will fit your hitch without an adapter.

  • How to Prevent a Trailer From Being Stolen
That's definitely a creative way to steal a trailer. Haven't heard that one before. It would be pretty difficult to get a wrench below the coupler to stop a hitch ball like item # 19286 from spinning when loosening the nut though. If someone's that determined to loosen the hitch ball off of the Curt Ball Mount item # C45338, I recommend using the Rack'Em Lock'em Magnum Wheel Lock item # RA-25. Thanks for the picture! The Curt Trailer Hitch item # C13277 you referenced is confirmed to fit your 2017 Audi Q7. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your Audi with included hardware. To be level you will typically want your ball mount to be within 3" of the height of your trailer's coupler. • Ball Mount to Use for 6 inch Drop When Using Curt Rockerball
The place to measure on your trailer for picking out correct rise/drop is actually from the bottom of the coupler lip. So since you measured from the top of where the ball fits into the coupler you'd need to subtract about 2 inches from that so you'd have 17 inches. So difference between 23 inches and 17 inches is 6 inches which means you'd need a drop of inches. So since you have a Curt Rockerball that adds 2 inches you'd need a 8 inch drop then. So for that you'd want the part # C45338...

When determining the amount of rise or drop you will need on the ball mount for your towing setup, you just need to take a couple simple measurements. The second is from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler when it is also parked on level ground. • Ball Mount for Trailer Hitch Height of 12-1/2 inch and Coupler Height 19 Inches
The two dimensions needed to be compared when picking out rise/drop ball mount is the top of the hitch opening down to the ground as well as the bottom of the coupler lip on the trailer down to the ground when the trailer is level. Since you measured from top of the coupler you'd need to remove right at 2 inches from 21 so you'd have from 12-1/2 inches to 19 inches which is 6-1/2 inches. So the closest you can get to that is 7 inches of rise like the part # C45338 which would work great.
