Question:
For my 2023 RAM 2500, the distance from ground to upper side of the 2.5” adapter is 24-3/4 inches. For a typical cattle trailer, the distance from ground to bottom side of the ball tongue is 16 inches. GW of trailer including animals is about 7,000 lbs. I do have a sleeve to convert the 2.5 inch adapter to a 2.0 inch adapter. For the hitch, I only need one ball, a 2.0-inch ball. The RAM 2500 has a 2-5/16 gooseneck ball installed in the bed. What would be a few recommendations for the hitch?

Hi Charles; based on your measurements you need an 8-3/4" drop for your ball mount. Do you want a fixed ball mount? Assuming you do, you can use the Curt Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 7" Rise, 8-1/4" Drop # C45338. This has a 10,000 lb capacity so it will be able to handle the trailer with animals. For a 2" ball you can use the # A-90. If you would prefer an adjustable ball mount I recommend the B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount # BW78SR which will fit your hitch without an adapter.
