Today we're going to take a look at the CURT ball mount for two and a half inch hitches. This one has an eight inch drop, and a six and a half inch rise, and a 20,000 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now this is a commercial duty ball mount that'll let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. The shank portion right here is what will slide into your vehicle's two and a half inch hitch receiver, and the ball platform right here provides you a mounting point for your hitch ball. Now the hitch balls, we do sell separately on our website, and they are listed on this product page as a related product. Now when you do buy a hitch ball, it will require a shank on that hitch ball of one and a quarter inches, and that's the measurement of this ball hole right here in the ball platform, and see if we put a ruler on that, it's got a one and a quarter inch diameter opening. So when you get a hitch ball you do want to make sure the shank on it is a one and a quarter inch diameter shank. Now both the drop and rise positions are available to ensure level towing.
It has a sturdy, solid forged steel construction, has a nice highly durable carbide black powder coat finish over it, and when you do install this into your hitch receiver, it will require a hitch pin and clip or a hitch lock to secure it to your hitch, and that is not included. You would have to supply that. We also sell those separately on our website, and the pin hole diameter, the size pin you would need is a five eighths inch diameter hitch pin to fit through here.Application on this is two and a half inch by two and a half inch trailer hitch receivers. Now the gross towing weight capacity will depend on what position you use it in. So if it's like it is now, in the drop position, it will be 20,000 pounds.
If you flipped it over into the rise, it'll be 16,000 pounds. Tongue weight will be the same way. It's in the drop position, 2,700 pounds. You flip it in the rise it's 2,160 pounds in the rise position. Now the drop would be like it is now, and that's measured from the top of the shank to the top of the ball platform. So you can see that's going to be eight inch drop, and the rise would be if we flip it over and you insert it in this way, and the same way it's top of the shank top of the ball platform.
So your rise measurement will be six and a half inches. But that should do it for the review on the CURT ball mount for two and a half inch hitches with the eight inch drop and the six and a half inch rise and a 20,000 pound gross towing weight capacity.
