Features to know about

Keeps Your Trailer Level: 4" Drop or 2" Rise

When your trailer sits too high or low, it can pull unevenly and cause sway. This ball mount keeps things straight with a 4" drop or 2" rise so your setup stays level. It slides into any 2" x 2" trailer hitch receiver and measures 8-1/4" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole, giving you the right geometry for balanced towing every time.

Built Strong for Everyday Hauls: 7,500-lb Gross Towing Weight

Whether you’re pulling a camper, boat, or utility trailer, this mount has the muscle to handle it. Rated for 7,500 lbs gross towing weight and 750 lbs tongue weight, it’s built to take on routine towing without flexing or fuss. The steel shank keeps everything stable under load so you can tow with confidence trip after trip.

Ready to Tow Right Out of the Box: Pre-Torqued Ball with Pin and Clip Included

No need to chase extra parts or torque specs. This kit includes a 2" chrome-plated hitch ball that’s pre-torqued to factory specs, plus a pin and clip to secure it to your hitch. Just slide it in, lock it down, and it’s ready to work—no tools or setup time required.

Stays Clean and Solid: Corrosion-Resistant Finishes

Road grime and rain can tear up a cheap mount fast. This one holds up thanks to its chrome-plated hitch ball and black powder coat finish on the mount itself. Both surfaces fight rust and corrosion so your towing gear keeps its strength and clean look season after season.

Simple, Fixed Design That Works Every Time

Sometimes simple is best. The fixed one-ball design means fewer moving parts and no adjustments to worry about. It stays steady in your receiver with no rattle or looseness, giving you straightforward towing performance every time you hook up.

I got a truck bed extender with the help of William S. He was very helpful and the device has been perfect for moving my kayaks.

by:

Great deal on the Curt Class III ball mount with 2" ball. etrailer.com was great to work with. Ordered Sunday and delivered Wednesday. I'll definitely use etrailer.com again!

by:

COULD NOT FIND HITCH LOCALLY. ETRAILER HAD THIS, WAS EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED. HITCH AND BALL COMBO WAS GREAT. HAD EVERYTHING I NEEDED FOR MY NEW DUMP TRAILER.

by:

Brianna was great to work with.

by:

Just installed my hitch kit on a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek. Everything went good and I did not even need to take the muffler off the rubber mounts.

by:

Trailer hitch and accessories just arrived. Unpacked everything. Equipment looks to be very high quality heavy duty stuff. Will be a great product. Saved me over $500 dollars doing the install myself verses getting a company to do the install for me.

by:

I'm real happy with the trailer ball
mount I just received today. It's heavier than it looks in the picture and that is a plus for me. It is going to handle everything I'll need and more. The 2" chrome ball and the pin with it are another plus making it a good buy.

Installation instructions came with the hitch and were clear and easy to figure out. Easy installation, the wiring harness had vehicle specific instructions as well and was easy to install, and everything worked as designed when I tested it. I will buy from eTrailer again!

by:

As usual, the folks at eTrailer were great to work with. The order was correct and shipped on-time (actually early). However, there was a problem with the physical dimensions of the Curt ball mount: the specs stated that it was a 4 inch drop. ETrailer's website confirmed exactly how this measurement is made. However, when I measured it, I found that it was NOT 4 inches, but rather 3.25 inches. A couple of phone conversations with eTrailer yielded an explanation from the manufacturer that this dimension is not meant to be "exact". Well, 3/4 of an inch variance is definitely "not exact". So, I found the ball mount I needed elsewhere and arranged to return this one to eTrailer. Again, they were most accommodating.

by:

Exactly what I expected. Fits right where it needs to on the Town & Country. Tight fit, solid material. Flip upside down to rise up behind the bumper. The ball is mounted good n tight, so a little extra oomph is needed to remove and move to the new topside.

by:

I ordered five things from e trailer trailer hitch, ball mount with ball, brake controller, wiring adaptor and 7 pin connector all pieces came in one box and all in great shape. Ordered it on the 13th about noon and showed up on the 17th around noon free shipping made this a easy decision. All I have to do is install it I have a newer truck so its all prewired just plug in and go. One last thing I like about e trailer is all the videos they have with vehicle specific install work they have done this a great reference tool.

by:

I was disappointed in this Curt-It was just oversized enough to keep it from slipping into my 2-inch hitch-it wasn't the paint-just wouldn't fit-to be fair it may have been the new extension used as it was a mess. I am giving it 5 stars because I think it is a fluke of some kind. The welds on this lets you know it is a quality product.

by:

Good hitch ball. Rated 3 because I thought I ordered a straight one and not a drop. Swapped it for a straight hitch my father had in his truck. He said this one was good.

by:

Got a new rig so I needed a 4'' drop instead of my 2'' drop ball mount. Great product but even a better transaction. Very fast shipping and packaging was safe and secure. This was shipped with 2 trailer tires. When the shipment came everything was in one package. This made me worry that shoddy packaging would have enabled the ball mount to bounce around and damage the tires or wheels. Not even close. The safe, secure, and attention to detail to the packaging was top notch. Would not hesitate to order again from etrailer.com

by:

Great Ball Mount. Good quality, heavy duty, 100% recommend.

by:

My order was missing installation parts, but the etrailer team were quick to correct the issue.

Even without a lift, I was able to install the receiver and brake light cable quickly, thanks to their extensive video libray.

by:

Quality and fit as expected. Priced well. Etrailer in my go-to basket for my old truck.

by:

Well made and exactly what I was looking for. Needed a 4" drop on the ball.
All set just slipped in hitch receiver and pined

Bought this because my 2" drop hitch was too high. Works perfect and has the ball installed which is a nice plus. Super fast shipping. No complaints.

A year in and the hitch is still working great

by:

Product is fine, I wish you would include an option for setting the ball for rise or drop as it was a pain to flip as I needed it set for rise.

by:

Received in a few days after ordering. Great service

by:

Excellent product. It would be nice to have the option of ordering it in a "rise" configuration instead of a "drop", so that I don't have to figure out a way to do it properly myself.

by:

as ordered, easy instal good heavy duty Ball Mount

by:

Needed a higher rated ball mount. This fit the bill.

by:

Great products Hitch gave me the 2” lift that was needed. Curt wiring harness fits perfectly.

  • Can Curt Ball Mount Be Flipped Over To Achieve A Raise In Height
Hi Mike; yes, a Curt ball mount like the # C45056 can be flipped over. This is considered the rise position and will not impact the capacity in any way. I attached a picture below which shows the ball mount in both orientations, both are acceptable. Your ball mount will actually have a rise measurement as shown below which can be used to help determine if it will keep your trailer level.

  • Recommended Drop or Rise Tolerance
Good Question! It is okay to have a little plus or minus you just don't want the tongue pointed too far either way. In your case I would use the 2" since we know it will have the trailer sitting dead level which is optimal. The Curt Class III Ball Mount with 2" Ball - 4" Drop - 2" Rise - 7,500 lbs part # C45056 will be perfect. This helps to ensure that the trailer pushes and pulls flat on the truck rather than pushing up or pulling down when braking.

  • How To Determine How Much Rise Or Drop I Need For A Ball Mount?
Hey Darrell, thanks for reaching out. The amount of rise or drop for the ball mount will depend on two things. The height of the hitch on your truck, and the height of the coupler on your trailer. We want the trailer to be level when you are towing, or as close to level as possible. What you can do is park your truck on level ground, and measure from the upper inside edge of your hitch receiver to the ground. Then you can, with the trailer leveled, measure from the center of the ball...

  • Will Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2023 Honda CR-V Also Fit Hybrid
Yes, the trailer hitch receivers for the 2023 Honda CR-V fit the hybrid model as well. There are no differences for the hybrid hitch since all of the available options fit all models. If I were to recommend one it would be the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98848. I like the etrailer hitch because of the matte black powder coat finish. This gives it an OEM look and does a better job hiding inevitable dirt and dings. If the finish isn't a big deal to you, I would choose whichever has...
