Brad Hello neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look at the vehicle-specific wiring harness, that will work in conjunction with the Tow-Pro Elite electric trailer brake controller. These harnesses are going to be great to work with your Tow-Pro Elite in a variety of different trucks and SUVs. Now, make sure that you get your vehicle-specific harness. You're going to want to use our fit guide on "etrailer.com", and that's going to make sure that you get the right harness, and that way your install goes nice and easy.
Included in the REDARC kit, you will find this plugin adapter, and this is going to have these spliced ends, and you're gonna have to tie into your brake signal, your brake output, your power output and your ground. Now, if you are pretty handy with electrical, that's awesome. That's great. You can use this. But I'm the kind of person, plug and play in OEM kind of setup or really nice factory one like this.
This is the vehicle-specific harness. So this ties in directly to our factory tow system, and clips right in, it's got this nice braided sheathing on it, to kind of protect the wires, and then it plugs directly into our module here. So, to save yourself a little bit of headache and time, and make the install go that much smoother, and not have to worry about loose connections, I highly recommend getting the vehicle-specific harness. So this end of the plug is specific to your vehicle. As you can tell, it looks like the factory plug, it fits in perfect, has the locking mechanism, so you aren't gonna have to worry about loose connections happening with your plug, and it's going to make install a lot easier.

VERY happy with the ease of installation. I had an insert made on a 3D printer to mount the control where the factory brake would have mounted.

Controller installation has operated trouble free since its installation.
This worked perfectly in my 2013 Tundra Crew Max. The "how to" video showed me just what do do and how to do it. I've taken my 24 foot camper trailer on two separate trips (one where I was on the Tail of Dragon even), and the trailer breaks worked perfectly.
This is my 3rd redarc. It’s a great product compared to a conventional brake controller hanging under the dash. The main downside to the redarc is the control knob. You can’t see the numbers very well to adjust it while driving, as they are not well lit. Otherwise, it works as expected
The harness was a perfect fit.

Cable works fine in a 2026 Tundra SR. I mounted the control knob in the coin tray next to the shifter.
This made installation a breeze in my 2023 4Runner. Well worth it!

The name says it all, it truly was a plug and play experience installing the wiring harness. I realized after the harness arrived that my 4Runner came with a cable with one end ready to plug in and the other end ready for a connector. Although I could have saved a little money terminating it myself, I went with the premade Redarc harness and was done in minutes. I have no regrets, it was money well spent and I was on the road in no time. Highly recommended.
Super easy install for my 2018 4Runner
Works awesome. I purchased a separate knob panel insert which made the entire installation plug and play. Would buy again.
All that I needed for the job.
After a year of owning and pulling a camper it has been flawless. Easy install. I will say do your research on the best way to set it up for your vehicle. I drove on dirt roads around 5mph and adjusted it until I was right on the edge of skidding the trailer by pressing on the controller.
Not safe to use, very poor quality product. May cause and accident due to not working properly with a brake controller. Do not buy it! It is not compatible with anything.
It wasn't plug and play with the factory setup. Had to cut the harness and install my own wires and breakers.
What can you say, "Plug-and-play" worked as it should.

Still love it.
Our Redarc Proportional Brake Controller did not work with the generic harness that the local shop originally used. This harness that we then ordered from etrailer is specific to certain Toyota vehicles, in our case a 2020 4Runner. Having this specific harness made all the difference. After a 7000 mile cross country trip with our camper we can report that with this harness the Redarc controller worked flawlessly. Thanks to the folks at eTrailer for helping us get the correct part.
Love that it is mostly plug and play. 4Runner is already wired for a brake controller and the cable I ordered made it simple to just plug it in. I didn’t get the custom switch blank for the 4 runner so I had to modify the existing one and that was a lot of work. Would order blank if doing again. Install was pretty easy. Haven’t towed a trailer yet so not sure how well it works. Looks like factory item after installed.
The Redark trailer brake controller installed easily. In my 2020 Toyota 4Runner. It looks like it came installed from the factory. It’s small and easy to reach when driving. It came with a plastic install panel. This is designed for installing in a hole that you drill in your dash. It will not fit in a knock out space in your dash. There is one that fits the dash perfectly that you can buy from etrailer.
etrailer automatically bundled the Redark trailer brake controller with the correct plug and play wiring harness for my vehicle. It was nice not to have to search for the wire harness. Everything installed perfectly. I didn’t have to splice a thing.
I haven’t tested the function of the brake controller yet. I’ll hook up to a trailer this week.
The items arrived in less than a week and the package was in good condition. The order tracking worked great. The tech videos on the etrailer website were really helpful. I’ll purchase from hem again.
Watched the video that demonstrated how to install the Redarc brake controller in my 4Runner. SIMPLE with the plug and play harness I ordered through you folks. In spite of it being shipped from the states to Canada, it got here in a very acceptable time frame. I believe I'll do the install tomorrow. Thanks ... BRW
After watching an etrailer installation video for the Redarc tow pro Liberty brake controller and ordering the appropriate snap and go wiring harness and the panel insert for my 2013 Toyota 4Runner the installation went well. The brake controller works exactly as advertised and looks like it was a factory install. Special thanks to Kayla for her help tracking down a small but critical part-the dashboard panel insert. To make sure it was the correct part, Kayla watched the installation video to which I had referred. If all your customer service reps are as professional and dedicated as Kayla then I give customer service 10 stars.
Plugged right into the connector by the e-brake pedal and I found a convenient bolt to attach the ground ring to. It has a good length to reach the spot I mounted the brake controller, not too long that I had to coil it up and not so short I needed to stretch it. Others might not mount their controller in the same spot but it worked out well for me. And most importantly, the brake controller worked perfect. Made the job very easy.
Love that click sound. Perfect connection for my 2019 4runner.
