The hitch head houses a tapered ball and a blue cone, made of anti-sway friction material. When you're pulling heavier loads, the weight forces the ball deeper into the cone so you have more friction applied. Instead of the spring bars that traditional weight distribution systems have, the Andersen weight distribution hitch has motion-dampening chains and a urethane spring, so when you hit a bump in the road or go over a bridge, the chains pull front-to-back (instead of the up and down motions spring bars have), and the spring absorbs the bounce. This gives you a stable, smooth ride even when your driving through curves, uneven roads, or wind.
This hitch smooths out dips, bumps, and bouncing. Simple maintenance (like light cleaning) and the greaseless system stays quiet mile after mile.

Product is well made. Getting the position of the brackets on the trailer A-frame is tricky. I had to move them when I noted that there is a limited amount of threads on the chain bolts so too loose or too tight can't be corrected if the brackets are over an inch one way or the other.
Easier to use than the previous system I had installed in 2018 on the Oliver travel trailer.

From shipping to setup and hookup to towing the entire experience has been excellent! This was very easy to install, it is easy to hookup when towing, it doesn't make that awfull noise, and there has been no sway or sag in weight distribution. It shipped fast, the communication and help offered was outstanding, and the instructions that came with the item were more than enough.
I really like how lite it is! No more 90lb ball to carry around, tows beautifully no sway at all.
My trailer setup is not standard (big lithium batteries on the tongue inside a fabricated box). The only place I could get the brackets required 6 links to be cut off. I’m not happy about this but the trailer is under 4000 lbs so I am hoping it will still have usable weight distribution. I guess I should not have made this purchase.
I had issues with sway control from the minute I purchased this unit. Andersen customer service was fantastic. They assisted me thru troubleshooting. After 8 months of trying I requested a replacement or refund they informed me I had to go thru the company I purchased it from. I was certain that e-trailer would deny my request due to the length of time. They stepped up and spoke with Andersen and I was able to get a refund anthough I have to pay for return shipping as per the warranty. Great job e-trailer.
Reduced porpoising and eliminated sway! Much better ride than the Weigh Safe WDH I was using. Also the components are very light and easy to use compared with all the competitors that have spring bars. I installed Timbrens after driving for over 1000 miles, and that totally eliminated the remaining porpoising, Directions should be re-written to eliminate the need for the additional insert, also more advice on fine-tuning for a better ride and adjusting for "squat" would be helpful.

Thanks for sharing such a detailed review! It’s great to hear the Andersen made such a noticeable improvement in sway and porpoising, especially compared with your previous WDH. Your feedback on the instructions and fine-tuning is helpful too. For reducing squat, the Andersen can generally be fine-tuned by increasing chain tension evenly on both sides in small increments. Using the tongue jack to take some load off the system makes those adjustments easier. The goal is proper weight transfer to the front axle rather than eliminating rear squat completely.
