Video Transcript for Firestone Wiring F2526 Review

Today we're going to review part number F2526. This is the Firestone fuse circuit tap kit. Now this part will allow you to add a fuse port or an accessory system fuse without splicing into your vehicle wiring. Right here, you'll just plug this right directly into your fuse box. It creates ports for the fuse that you take out of your fuse box and then for the accessory systems use. Also on this end you can see the butt connector.

This is a power lead that'll go to the 12-volt accessory system. It comes with the tap. Also comes with three different size fuses, a 10-, 20-, or 30-amp fuse. This will work on most vehicle fuse boxes and this part is made in the USA. Basically what you would do is right here this plug in, when you go to your fuse box and decide which fuse you're going to take out of your fuse box, you take that fuse out and then plug this right into it. Then the fuse you took you'll put in the port right next to it closest to the fuse box.

Then what you'll do is which ever size you need, 10-amp let's say, you'll put that in the port right next to the . just like that. You'll have your fuse you took out of your fuse box right there. You'll just have this connected to your accessory item and that'll give you a in-line fuse without splicing into your vehicle wiring. But that should do it for the review on part number F2526. This is the Firestone fuse circuit tap kit..

After watching etrailer's video, I purchased this item with the ETBC7 kit. Worked as it should. I routed the wiring a little different so I didn't have to cut the fuse case cover. The price is more than others but I didn't care. Their video alone was worth paying the difference in price. 485623

This fuse tap made getting power from a switched power source relatively easy. I used it to provide power from a fuse that was hot with the ignition switch in the accessory or run position so that the solenoid for my trailer wiring and trailer brake controller would be hot whenever the switch was in either of those two positions. I picked a fuse for an item that wouldn't normally have a high demand current so that adding the solenoid wouldn't overload the fuse or the circuit. The final installation of the fuse tap was made in the engine compartment fuse box of my 2001 Toyota Tundra. The wire coming off the fuse tap was just barely long enough for my installation but worked out fine once I moved the solenoid closer. The whole setup has been working without any issues for a year now even though I only occasionally tow the trailer. The solenoid is powered every time I drive the truck and I've had no blown fuses! 436378

The customer service at etrailer is awesome. When I discovered that I had ordered the wrong fuse circuit I sent a note via their website asking for help. They got back to me right away and helped me find the correct part. They also sent me clear instructions on how to return the original part. I'll be ordering from etrailer again and again I'm sure. 612034

All is great. The level of service at etrailer takes me back to the sixties. I ordered the wrong ball for the draw bar I selected. Someone called from etrailer almost immediately and straightened everything out. Even with my mess up I got the order in two shipping days! Great company, great service, great prices, and unbelievable array of products...not even mentioning the incredible help and information available on line. I wish we could clone these guys. 161008

On a scale of 1 to 10 I would have to give etrailer customer service an 11+. This item was out of stock when the order was placed. I received several emails as to the progress of my order. They even offered the option of canceling my order. The product was as advertised when it arrived. I have used etrailer before and plan to use it again in the future. 68130

  • Parts Needed to Allow Tow Vehicle Battery to Charge Trailer Battery While Driving
  • You may be able to use the existing 12V feed at the back of your truck to charge your trailer battery while driving but you will need to install a battery isolation solenoid to disconnect this line when the tow vehicle is off. Otherwise your trailer battery could drain the battery in the tow vehicle. You will also want to ensure that you are using a wire gauge heavy enough to pass the charging current to the trailer battery; 10-gauge would be the minimum. You can use part # TR118665...

  • Tapping Into Vehicle Fuse Box To Install A Backup Camera System Without Splicing Factory Wires
  • To wire a backup camera into your vehicle so that it only comes on when in reverse, will require tapping into your reverse function wiring. Without knowing your specific vehicle, I can't tell you the specific fuse location but your owners manual will be able to help you. If you choose to use this as your power source, I recommend you use the Firestone Fuse Circuit Tap Kit # F2526 and run wire like the 16 gauge # DW02359-1 to the camera wire. Another method of installation requires...

There is also a fuse for the Trailer Tow Receptacle in location F30. It takes a 30 amp pink cartridge fuse. This will be the same location for a boat trailer or any other trailer.

  • Circuit Suggestion for Tapping Fuse for Install of Air Lift WirelessONE Compressor System
  • I can only recommend you go with the same amperage rating as what is called for in the install instructions of the Air Lift WirelessONE Compressor System for Air Helper Springs # AL25870 that you are installing. Since you want to use a circuit that only sees voltage when the key is on the radio fuse is a common one that is used. You have to go with the same voltage though as too high may cause damage to the compressor and too low would cause the fuse to blow all the time. I attached...

  • To wire in a truck camper shell's third brake light to your 2016 Ford F-150 you can access that brake light signal either by splicing into the truck's own 3rd brake light wiring or install a fuse tap # F2526 into the fuse position for the brake light circuit and access the signal that way. The wire colors can vary during a production run, which is why we typically recommend that folks wire by function, not by wire color. As an alternate method, you can use a fuse tap like part # F2526 on the CHMSL (center high mounted stop lamp) fuse in the fuse box. The lid of the fuse box should have a legend that will tell you which fuse location is needed.

  • Protecting Vehicle Battery from Excessive Draw from Trailer Battery
  • The best way to ensure adequate power for your towing rig is to fully charge both the vehicle and trailer batteries before heading out. A simple tool like the CTEK MULTI universal charger # CTEK56158 will work on both your vehicle and trailer batteries to "top them off" before you head out. This charger has specific modes for both smaller batteries and for car batteries. If you want to have a fool-proof way to avoid the trailer battery from draining the vehicle battery, you can install...

This solenoid is activated by an ignition-controlled circuit that connects to its center terminal to turn the power flow on an off.
