Video Transcript for Firestone Fuse Circuit Tap Kit Installation

Today we're going to take a look at the Firestone Fuse Circuit Tap Kit, part number is F2526. Our fuse circuit tap kit allows us to use an existing fuse in our fuse panel to draw power off of for additional accessories. This is going to save us the hassle of splicing into our factory wiring harnesses. Essentially what it's going to allow us to do, choose the fuse we're going to use, this is our tail light circuit fuse, I'm going to pull that out, it's going to go in the bottom slot. You can see I've already installed our other 10 amp fuse on the top, that's going to create a fuse for this wire. We've got our normal fuse circuit here, and an additional fuse circuit here where we will be able to get our power. This circuit tap comes with several sizes, you've got a 10, a 20, and a 30 amp fuse that you can pick from.

You want to get that slid down in and then it's just a matter of connecting our 12 volt wire right there. Then all we'll have to do is crimp it down. Now with our fuse circuit tap kit installed you'll see we've got full power to our accessory, allowing it to illuminate any time we turn on our running lights. That will complete today's installation of the Firestone Fuse Circuit Tap Kit, part number F2526.

After watching etrailer's video, I purchased this item with the ETBC7 kit. Worked as it should. I routed the wiring a little different so I didn't have to cut the fuse case cover. The price is more than others but I didn't care. Their video alone was worth paying the difference in price. 485623

The customer service at etrailer is awesome. When I discovered that I had ordered the wrong fuse circuit I sent a note via their website asking for help. They got back to me right away and helped me find the correct part. They also sent me clear instructions on how to return the original part. I'll be ordering from etrailer again and again I'm sure. 612034

This fuse tap made getting power from a switched power source relatively easy. I used it to provide power from a fuse that was hot with the ignition switch in the accessory or run position so that the solenoid for my trailer wiring and trailer brake controller would be hot whenever the switch was in either of those two positions. I picked a fuse for an item that wouldn't normally have a high demand current so that adding the solenoid wouldn't overload the fuse or the circuit. The final installation of the fuse tap was made in the engine compartment fuse box of my 2001 Toyota Tundra. The wire coming off the fuse tap was just barely long enough for my installation but worked out fine once I moved the solenoid closer. The whole setup has been working without any issues for a year now even though I only occasionally tow the trailer. The solenoid is powered every time I drive the truck and I've had no blown fuses! 436378

On a scale of 1 to 10 I would have to give etrailer customer service an 11+. This item was out of stock when the order was placed. I received several emails as to the progress of my order. They even offered the option of canceling my order. The product was as advertised when it arrived. I have used etrailer before and plan to use it again in the future. 68130

  • Can Fuse Tap part # F2526 be Used on 20 amp Circuit
The Fuse tap part # F2526 that you referenced comes with a 10 amp, 20 amp, and a 30 amp fuse to use with it. Since all you need is a 20 amp rating this would work well for you.

  • Fuse Size Recommendation for Fuse Circuit Tap Kit # F2526 When Used as Keyed Power Source
If you are using the Firestone Fuse Circuit Tap Kit # F2526 for a keyed power source to activate the isolation solenoid part # TR118665 it really shouldn't matter what fuse you use but I would go with the lowest one. There would be a minimum amperage draw for the way you are using it since the middle pin of the # TR118665 will only be looking for signal to complete the solenoid's circuit.

  • Resetting Trailer Running Light Circuit for 2015 Ram 1500
Sounds like you have a 2015 Ram and you are having issues with the trailer wiring running light circuit. What's interesting about the Ram trucks like yours is that they do not use traditional fuses like other vehicles. The circuit protection is through the TIPM of the truck. The only way to reset the circuit is to take the truck to a dealer and let them do it.

According to the owner's manual for your 2014 Ram 1500 the trailer running light fuse is in location F29 under the hood. It takes a 20 amp yellow cartridge fuse. There is also a fuse for the Trailer Tow Receptacle in location F30. It takes a 30 amp pink cartridge fuse. This will be the same location for a boat trailer or any other trailer.

  • Right Turn Signal Not Working on Trailer Towed by 2014 Ram 1500
The first thing I'd recommend you do is to check the trailer connector on the truck using a circuit tester like # 40376. The blade in the 3:00 position should show power when the right turn signal is activated and brake pedal. If you do get a signal on this pin, the problem is in the trailer wiring. The right turn circuit on a trailer is usually a green wire that you can trace from the trailer connector on back, looking for pinched wires or loose connections. You'll also want to check the...

  • Why Does Firestone Fuse Tap F2526 Have High Amperage Fuses But Thin Gauge Wire
So the fuses that come with the Firestone Fuse Circuit Tap Kit # F2526 actually don't protect the circuit on the wire. They are for protecting the circuit that the fuse tap is installed in. So let's say you pull out a 30 amp fuse and install the fuse tap in place of it. The fuse you install in the tap is what protects the circuit of the fuse box...the wire then is not circuit protected as it's just a signal wire that does not draw amperage.
