Question:
wheres the wire for the brake light?

Expert Reply:
To wire in a truck camper shell's third brake light to your 2016 Ford F-150 you can access that brake light signal either by splicing into the truck's own 3rd brake light wiring or install a fuse tap # F2526 into the fuse position for the brake light circuit and access the signal that way. The dash fuse box, called the BCM or body control module is located under the passenger side of the dash behind the kick panel below the glove box. The brake light (CHMSL) wire you need is located in the #13 location from what I can find. You will want to double check with your owners manual. You can use wire like # 10-1-1 sold by the foot to run wire the length you need.

I also have a 2016 F150 and just installed a topper. I followed the method provided by Jason but the topper brake light has constant power so its always on.

I have a 2014 SuperCrew and am trying to wire the third brake light on my Leer cap. After much searching on the web, I found out the the power wire was located in the wire harness right next to the master cylinder. It is a blue wire with a orange stripe that was capped off with black plastic. I put a multi meter on the wire and it was getting power only when the brake was depressed. However, somewhere along the line it stopped showing power. I'm thinking I may have shorted it out. I checked the manual for a fuse position for this but didn't find anything about it. Would anyone be able to tell me which fuse position controls this line. Thanking in advance for any help you can provide.
