  • Solution for Needing Longer Extension with Recurve WD System to Allow Tailgate to Open
Hey Branden, I have a great solution. So what you'll want to do is go with a longer shank for your Recurve WD system like the part # EQ90-02-4500 which will give you the extension you need to allow your tailgate to open without hitting the tailgate. Extensions don't work as they aren't rated for use with WD systems. The shank is the same design as what the Recurve uses.

  • Longer Shank Equal-i-Zer Weight Distribution Shank
Do you know how much additional clearance you'd need to allow the tailgate to open? 12inches is a longer shank but we might have a slightly longer option. But if you need considerably more length we won't be much help.

  • Would Switching a Weight Distribution Shank to A longer One Change the Height of a WDS
That sounds right to me Travis, but while you have everything pulled out it wouldn't hurt to re-measure and double-check. The height shouldn't have changed and everything should essentially go as you've described, but If it were me I'd take a quick measurement to double-check.

  • What is the Capacity of the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank EQ90-02-4500?
Yes, it is Buck. The Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank item # EQ90-02-4500 has a maximum tongue weight capacity of 1,400 lbs. This shank fits a 2" receiver and works with many weight distribution systems on the market today. What kind of weight distribution system do you have?

  • Is There an 18 Long Weight Distribution Shank that is for a 2-1/2 Hitch
I have a solution for you, but currently we do not have a 2-1/2" shank that is 18" long. The Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank # EQ90-02-4500 measures 18" long with a 7" rise/3" drop and fits a 2" hitch. Currently the longest we have for a 2-1/2" hitch is the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank # EQ90-02-4700 which measures 12" long with a 7" rise/3" drop. However, you can use a reducer sleeve like the Curt Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve # C45405 which will allow you to use the Equal-i-zer Weight...

  • Extended Shank for a Weight Distribution System
The longest extended shank we offer will be the Equal-i-zer # EQ90-02-4500, which is 18" long, has a maximum tongue weight capacity of 1,400 lbs, fits 2" x 2" receivers and offers up to a 7" rise or 3" drop. Equal-i-zer # EQ90-02-4600 is similar, with the only difference being it offers an 8" rise or 3" drop. I've added links to video reviews of each of these shanks for you to take a look at.

  • Solution to Allow Weigh Safe True Tow WDH to Clear Tailgate
Hey Forest! You aren't going to get the clearance you need from moving to the Heavyweight. Even if you did, that system is going to be overrated so you wouldn't want to use it with your trailer. You're better off sticking with the Middleweight # WS94RR (2" shank) or # WS59MR (2-1/2" shank). All of their shanks are the same length and you can't use shanks from other systems so that is out of the question. An extender isn't going to work well either and it will cut your tongue weight capacity...

  • Recommended 2" Hitch Extender for a Truck w/ the Tailgate Down
Hey Brandon. The longest hitch extender we have is the 14" long Gen-Y Hitch item # GY89SR. This fits a 2" receiver and has a 10,000 lbs capacity but it will reduce your hitches capacity by 50% like all hitch extenders do. The 15-3/4" Long Hidden Hitch Ball Mount item # 80232 fits a 2" receiver and has a 6,000 lbs tongue weight capacity. It will not reduce your hitch's capacity. If you're using a weight distribution system, the 18" long extended Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank item # EQ90-02-4500...

  • How Can I Extend Out My EZ Hauler Trailer While Using a Fastway E2 Weight Distribution Hitch?
Hello Adam, We can definitely get you set up so you can accomplish getting the ramp up to your tailgate. However, it is not recommended to use a hitch extender with a weight distribution system. The good news is that you can use the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank # EQ90-02-4500 with your Fastway E2. The # EQ90-02-4500 is going to extend you out by 18", if that is too long and you want to stick with the 14" extension then the Curt Weight Distribution Shank # C17122 will be the one for you...

Since you are using a weight distribution system similar to Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37100ET, the product we have with the longest shank bar length that will work with unit is the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank # EQ90-02-4900. Its shank bar length is 12". This product has a rise of 10" and a drop of 6" from top of hitch receiver tube opening.

  • Looking For Equal-i-zer Hitch With Extended Shank To Allow Tailgate To Be Opened
Hello Glenn. We do offer an extended shank that can be used with a WDH, the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank # EQ90-02-4500. This shank is about 6" longer than the standard shanks that come with the Equal-i-zer hitches. That said, the Equal-i-zer WD hitches are actually one of the lightest on the market, so if you are looking for something that weighs less, I am afraid we do not have anything significantly lighter to offer you. Really any 6,000 lb rated WD hitch will weigh right around 100...

  • Extension for 2024 Ford F-450 With Truck Camper Towing Boat Trailer
Hey Shawn, I really like that boat! If you didn't already I recommend actually measuring to make sure a 36" extension is really what you need. At 36" the only thing that can handle that kind of tongue weight is the TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension # TLE1536 which will require the SuperHitch Magnum # TL27CR . The # TLE1636 is limited to 720 lbs with a WDH so unless you can get your tongue weight down I'm sorry to say it isn't happening. If you can get away with a shorter extension the...

  • Is Fastway e2 WDH Compatible With Other Brand Shanks
Hey Denis! The Fastway e2 is compatible with most other shanks, but not all. They use the standard shank on their systems so as long as the dimensions match it won't be a problem. Do you have a 2" receiver? If so, you can use the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank - 18" Long - 7" Rise, 3" Drop # EQ90-02-4500 (Equal-i-zer actually makes Fastway). This will give you the extra clearance you need.

  • Complete Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System With 2-5/16" Ball
Hello Pat, thanks for reaching out. The # EQ90-02-4500 you were looking at is just a shank, so you would need literally every other part of the WD system. We offer the Equal-i-zer WD systems as a full kit, like part # EQ37120ET for example which comes with a 2-5/16" ball. This system is 12,000 lbs rated so ideally this would be used on a trailer with a tongue weight between 800-1,200 lbs. So we would want to be sure this is appropriate for your trailer. If you want to reply below and...

  • Availability Of Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Kit With Extra-Long 18" Shank
Hello Allen, thanks for reaching out. I see you were looking at the 18" Long Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank # EQ90-02-4500. We can definitely offer you a weight distribution setup that includes the 18" shank, but we do not offer this as a complete kit with that shank. It is not that common for folks to use the extra long shank so all of our kits come with a standard-length shank, or with no shank. So in this case we would sell you the shank, along with the "no shank" version of whatever...

  • Will the Replacement 2-Ball Platform for BulletProof Hitches Work With Equalizer Shank?
Hello Edward, I am sorry but the Replacement 2-Ball Platform for BulletProof Hitches Adjustable Ball Mount - 2" and 2-5/16" # 358REPLACEMENTBALL will NOT work with the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank - 18" Long - 7" Rise, 3" Drop - 600 to 1,400 lbs TW # EQ90-02-4500. The block would be in the way on the # 358REPLACEMENTBALL to the channel of the EQ90-02-4500, please refer to image that I attached. • Will A Longer Shank On An Equal-i-zer WDH Help With Turning And Tailgate Clearance
Swapping out the shank of your Equal-i-zer WDH with a larger 18" shank would push the trailer back an additional 6" for more clearance but there's no way for me to confirm that your trailer would completely clear the tail lights on your truck without physically testing it. A longer shank would also help with your tail gate clearing the jack, but we'd need to measure to absolutely confirm if it would clear. We have two 18" shank options, which I've listed below: 8" Rise, 4" Drop - 600 to...

The Bulldog Powered Drive Trailer Jack # BD500187 comes with a round mounting plate that has provisions for multiple mounting patterns such as the 90 degrees that you are looking for. This has a tongue weight range of 600-1,400lbs. There are hitch receiver extenders available but none of them are compatible with a 2" weight distribution hitch.
