Will A Longer Shank On An Equal-i-zer WDH Help With Turning And Tailgate Clearance

Updated 11/20/2023 | Published 11/19/2023

Question:

I have an Equalizer WDH with 12” shank. Hit passenger side taillight with front of 17” Salem Cruise Lite camper when backing up toward passenger side. Would an 18” shank prevent this? Also, my tailgate won’t open without hitting the tongue jack.

Swapping out the shank of your Equal-i-zer WDH with a larger 18" shank would push the trailer back an additional 6" for more clearance but there's no way for me to confirm that your trailer would completely clear the tail lights on your truck without physically testing it. A longer shank would also help with your tail gate clearing the jack, but we'd need to measure to absolutely confirm if it would clear. We have two 18" shank options, which I've listed below:

8" Rise, 4" Drop - 600 to 1,400 lbs TW # EQ90-02-4600
7" Rise, 3" Drop - 600 to 1,400 lbs TW # EQ90-02-4500
