Video Transcript for Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Shank Review - 2013 Ford F-250

Today on our 2013 Ford F250 Super Duty well be test fitting the Equal-i-zer weight distribution shank for 2 1/2-inch hitches with an 8-inch rise or 4-inch drop with a 600 to 1,400 pound tongue weight, part number EQ90-02-4800. Well begin our test fit by first obtaining the hitch height of our vehicle. This is the measurement from the ground to the inside top of the receiver tube. The hitch height for our vehicle is about 20 inches. Keep in mind that this measurement may vary due to hitch style, tire size, or some aftermarket accessories. Well now begin our test fit by sliding the weight distribution shank in the drop position into the opening of the hitch and securing it with a pin and clip.

Well now measure from the ground to the center of the bottom hole as well as the center of the top hole. From the ground to the center of the bottom hole is about 12 inches, as well as the center of the top hole is about 18 . Now if your vehicles hitch height matches our vehicles hitch height and your trailers ride height is on or between these two measurements, this would be an appropriate shank for you. We can now flip the shank on over into the rise position and again measure from the ground to the center of the bottom hole as well as to the center of the top hole, and from the ground to the center of the bottom hole is about 19 inches, as well as to the center of the top hole is about 25 inches. Once again, if your trailers ride height is on or between these two measurements, this would be an appropriate shank for you.

And with that that completes todays test fit for the Equal-i-zer weight distribution shank, part number EQ90-02-4800 on our 2013 Ford F250 Super Duty.

Ordering this hitch shank was simple with multiple options for shipment. I received the order on the day etrailer gave me. The product was in good shape with no scratches. I installed it with easy and tested it. Works as advertised and this could fit and level my trailer beautifully. I read I should have ordered the shank 90-02-4900 (I purchased the 90-02-4800), but I think that would have been an overkill. I measure the trailer tongue height at 30 inches (Outdoors RV trailer). With my 2017 Ford F-250 with air bags. Improvements: eTrailer should put a note that if a customer is going from a 2 inch to 2 1/2 inch hitch, the customer might want to upgrade to a longer hitch pin, as well. 647750

My new weight distribution shank fits perfectly. The shank I ordered was out of stock. The amazing people in customer service found an alternative option for me. It came today with a few days to spare. Thank you so much you saved the day. I've attached a pic of the old with a sleeve witch we used last year and snapped two pins and almost lost our trailer. The new shank fits lik a glove. I don't think we'll be snapping any pins this year. I've attached a pic of the new shank all assembled. 411004

This is a thing of beauty! Lovingly crafted of steel with just the right amount of adjustment holes and then expertly covered in gleaming high gloss opaque midnight black paint, the depths of which can only be imagined in your dreams. The square shank has seemingly perfect right angles to mate with your receiver in a gentle but secure manner without lubrication or foreplay. The geometry is sublime and what other shanks can only aspire to. Much poetry will be written about this shank. Seriously, this is a solid steel 2 1/2" shank that correctly fits the Ford receiver. So...no sleeves. I like that it's solid and has no hollow parts but this makes it really heavy. You get what you pay for. etrailer made this a painless purchase and it came with my other hitch parts right on time. 469412

I was delighted to finally find this 2 1/2" hitch. Now I don't have to use the sleeve (2 1/2" to 2") which was very hard to remove. This 2 1/2" shank slides in & out easily & quickly. And the 5/8" holding pin is located in a better position which allows the shank to slide into the receiver further. 226281

Upgraded tow vehicle has a 2-1/2" receiver and I was not comfortable using the sleeve for the Hitch shank to pull my 30' camper. Went to the Larger shank which fit perfectly and did the job. Only complaint is that it is that much heavier, which logic says would be so. Order and Delivery was reasonable and prompt. 625557

I highly recommend this product. It is well made and works as advertised! 610827

It works great I bought it to get away from using the 2-1/2 - 2 reducer sleeve in my GM hitch to reduce the slop . It didnt do away with the slop as the GM receiver is oversize . i needed more anyway so it worked out .

Solves my problem w/ a high coupler trailer and wanting the ability to open my tail gate w/o hitting it on the ball. After working w/ the great support guys at Progress Mfg., this one was determined to solve my problem, vs. the one that their Web site hitch selection tool recommended. Order fulfillment and shipping was super fast and I was kept well informed. Shipping method was actually upgraded at no cost to me. Great product, great service from etrailer. 32090

  • 2-1/2 Inch Shank for Fastway Weight Distribution on a Ford F-250 with 2-1/2 Inch Hitch Receiver
  • Fastway is made by Equal-I-zer so I recommend one of the Equal-I-zer 2-1/2 inch shanks: Shank # EQ90-02-4900 has a 10 inch rise or 6 inch drop Shank # EQ90-02-4800 has an 8 inch rise or 4 inch drop Shank # EQ90-02-4700 has a 7 inch rise or 3 inch drop I have linked a video review on one. The others will have the same features with the difference being the amount of rise and drop each offers.

  • Can a 2-1/2 to 2 Inch Reducer Sleeve be Used with Weight Distribution Systems
  • Generally speaking the use of a reducer sleeve does not decrease the capacity of a trailer hitch. However some hitch manufacturers may have a reduced capacity if a sleeve is used. There isn't a standard for all hitches and all reducer sleeves. It depends on the hitch and the sleeve. The weight distribution system may also have a reduced capacity which should be in the literature for your weight distribution system. The other option is to replace the weight distribution shank with one...

  • How to Use 2-Inch Weight Distribution & Accessories in 2-1/2-Inch Hitch on 2019 Ford F-250
  • You can go in either of 2 ways to use your Blue Ox Sway Pro 2-inch weight distribution hitch # BXW1500 in your new Ford truck that has a 2-1/2-inch hitch. One way is to keep using everything you already own and to simply add a hitch reducer sleeve like B&W part # BWRHXA2182 which slides into the 2-1/2-inch receiver and reduces it to the 2-inch size for your existing Sway Pro shank. If you already have other 2-inch hitch accessories like a cargo carrier or bike rack then the reducer sleeve...

  • Replacement Shank Recommendation to Use Pro Series Weight Distribution System in 2.5 in Hitch
  • You will need a different shank for your weight distribution system since your Pro Series uses washers against the front of the shank to set the angle of the head of the system. I appreciate you sending in the picture that you did as it illustrates this perfectly with the # RP54976. For a similar shank with a solid front on the shank that will work for you we have the Equal-i-zer part # EQ90-02-4800 which would work well.

  • Can an Equal-I-zer Weight Distribution System be Used with a 2-1/2 to 2 Inch Reducer
  • The best option would be to replace the shank that came with Equal-I-zer system # EQ37100ET with one that fits directly in a 2-1/2 inch receiver. There are 3 Equal-I-zer options: # EQ90-02-4900 with 6 inch drop or 10 inch rise # EQ90-02-4800 with 4 inch drop or 8 inch rise # EQ90-02-4700 with 3 inch drop or 7 inch rise For some 2-1/2 inch hitches the use of a reducer sleeve such as # C45405 will reduce the capacity of the hitch so I would check on that first before getting a sleeve...

  • Parts Needed to Allow Use of 2-Inch Weight Distribution System in 2-1/2-Inch Hitch
  • Yes, you can use your 2-inch weight distribution hitch (WDH) in a 2-1/2-inch hitch in either of two ways. One way is to add a hitch reducer sleeve to the 2-1/2-inch hitch to drop it down to a 2-inch size to allow using your system as-is. We have many brands of reducer such as Curt # C45405; this and others appear on the linked page. Then you could add a 2-1/2 inch shank such as # EQ90-02-4800, or a similar shank. You will also need a ball, # 19286. • Reducer Sleeve for Equal-I-zer Weight Distribution System in 2-1/2 Inch Receiver of 2016 Ford F350
  • The reducer sleeve does need to be a bit smaller than the interior dimension of the receiver or it could become stuck. Typically a bit of 'slop' between the shank and the receiver or in this case, the reducer and shank isn't much of a concern with a weight distribution system because the spring bars of the system are applying a good deal of upward leverage against the receiver. This is almost always enough leverage to prevent the shank from rattling around. Not in your case, however. Since...

Since this is a 2-1/2 inch hitch shank there is an assumption that it would be used on a heavier application that may be misleading.
