My new weight distribution shank fits perfectly. The shank I ordered was out of stock. The amazing people in customer service found an alternative option for me. It came today with a few days to spare. Thank you so much you saved the day. I've attached a pic of the old with a sleeve witch we used last year and snapped two pins and almost lost our trailer. The new shank fits lik a glove. I don't think we'll be snapping any pins this year. I've attached a pic of the new shank all assembled. 411004

Excellent quality part--finished well and machined holes line up with hitch head and receiver. Turned out to be too short for my application. ETRAILER was great about taking it back on a returned merchandise and shipped the correct one just as quickly 564814

Ordering this hitch shank was simple with multiple options for shipment. I received the order on the day etrailer gave me. The product was in good shape with no scratches. I installed it with easy and tested it. Works as advertised and this could fit and level my trailer beautifully. I read I should have ordered the shank 90-02-4900 (I purchased the 90-02-4800), but I think that would have been an overkill. I measure the trailer tongue height at 30 inches (Outdoors RV trailer). With my 2017 Ford F-250 with air bags. Improvements: eTrailer should put a note that if a customer is going from a 2 inch to 2 1/2 inch hitch, the customer might want to upgrade to a longer hitch pin, as well. 647750

Very heavy duty. Fit perfectly with reduced slop. I had been using a 2 inch with a reducer in my 2 1/2 inch receiver. This feels much safer. Using this with the Equal-i-zer hitch. Tongue weight is only 650 lbs., travel trailer is only 7000 lbs. so this is under virtually no stress. Should last a lifetime. Shipment actually delivered two days before the original estimated date. Nice welds, Durable paint high gloss. Weighs nearly 30 pounds before attaching the equalizer hitch. 852868

I ordered this 2-1/2 inch equalizer shank because I had to use a reducer sleeve on my 2015 Ram 3500 with my 2 inch equalizer shank. I was worried that the Eazlift head I had wouldn't fit but research on the etrailer web site said it would. It fit beautifully! Now I have less slop in my receiver and I don't have to mess with a stupid reducer. Definitely worth the money! 822415

Upgraded tow vehicle has a 2-1/2" receiver and I was not comfortable using the sleeve for the Hitch shank to pull my 30' camper. Went to the Larger shank which fit perfectly and did the job. Only complaint is that it is that much heavier, which logic says would be so. Order and Delivery was reasonable and prompt. 625557

This is a thing of beauty! Lovingly crafted of steel with just the right amount of adjustment holes and then expertly covered in gleaming high gloss opaque midnight black paint, the depths of which can only be imagined in your dreams. The square shank has seemingly perfect right angles to mate with your receiver in a gentle but secure manner without lubrication or foreplay. The geometry is sublime and what other shanks can only aspire to. Much poetry will be written about this shank. Seriously, this is a solid steel 2 1/2" shank that correctly fits the Ford receiver. So...no sleeves. I like that it's solid and has no hollow parts but this makes it really heavy. You get what you pay for. etrailer made this a painless purchase and it came with my other hitch parts right on time. 469412

It works great I bought it to get away from using the 2-1/2 - 2 reducer sleeve in my GM hitch to reduce the slop . It didnt do away with the slop as the GM receiver is oversize . i needed more anyway so it worked out .

I was delighted to finally find this 2 1/2" hitch. Now I don't have to use the sleeve (2 1/2" to 2") which was very hard to remove. This 2 1/2" shank slides in & out easily & quickly. And the 5/8" holding pin is located in a better position which allows the shank to slide into the receiver further. 226281

  • Parts Needed to Allow Use of 2-Inch Weight Distribution System in 2-1/2-Inch Hitch
Yes, you can use your 2-inch weight distribution hitch (WDH) in a 2-1/2-inch hitch in either of two ways. One way is to add a hitch reducer sleeve to the 2-1/2-inch hitch to drop it down to a 2-inch size to allow using your system as-is. We have many brands of reducer such as Curt # C45405; this and others appear on the linked page. The other way is to replace the 2-inch shank with a 2-1/2-inch shank and we do offer these as individual parts. All 2-1/2-inch shanks appear on the other...

  • Weight Distribution Shank for 2-1/2 Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver with More Drop
For your 2-1/2 inch trailer hitch receiver, the shank with the most drop is the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank - 2-1/2" Hitch - 10" Rise/6" Drop # EQ90-02-4900. This will give you 2 inches more drop than the # EQ90-02-4800 you referenced. Depending on your system you may alternatively be able to use a shank like the Reese Weight Dist Shank - Drop Only - 11" Long - 7-5/8", 8-5/8" Drop # RP3344 with a sleeve reducer like # 325-GH-007. This is not ideal but in some cases can work depending...

  • Upgrading to 2-1/2 Inch Shank or Using a Reducer Sleeve with Equal-I-zer Weight Distribution System
Between using a reducer sleeve and upgrading your weight distribution shank, I recommend going with a weight distribution shank designed to fit the 2-1/2 inch hitch receiver on your 2015 Ram 2500HD. Using a 2/1/2 inch shank, like # EQ90-02-4800, for your Equal-I-zer weight distribution system, like # EQ37121ET, will not require adding any additional components to the system at the receiver. There will be less room for play in the hitch receiver when using a 2-1/2 inch shank than if...

  • Weight Distribution System Recommend for 1,000 lbs Tongue Weight with 6 in of Drop for 2.5 Hitch
The correct way to determine the amount of drop you will need is to measure from the top of the hitch opening to the ground like you mentioned but then on the trailer you will need to measure from the bottom lip of the coupler to the ground when the trailer is level. The difference between the two measurements is the amount of drop you would need. Based on the dimensions you listed you are most likely going to need a 5 inch drop.
