2-1/2 Weight Distribution Shank For Equal-i-zer System

Updated 06/06/2018 | Published 05/29/2018

Question:

Thank you for your great information. It was only today I realized that the shank bar you recommended would likely work except the WD system you referred to (# EQ37100ET) and that I currently am using won't bolt onto the 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" shank you recommend. It is 2" only. If I'm missing something, please set me straight. It appears that I will have to actually upgrade the WD system to one that includes a 2 1/2" width shank? Are there any other options to meet my earlier stated need?

Since you are using a weight distribution system similar to Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37100ET, the product we have with the longest shank bar length that will work with unit is the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank # EQ90-02-4900. Its shank bar length is 12". This product has a rise of 10" and a drop of 6" from top of hitch receiver tube opening.

The best option is getting a longer shank like Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank - 18" Long - 7" Rise, 3" Drop - 600 to 1,400 lbs TW # EQ90-02-4500. This shank is about 7 inches longer than the shank on # EQ37100ET. The next best option is to use a hitch extender that can handle weight distribution like Curt Hitch Extension and Reducer for 2-1/2" Trailer Hitches - 24" to 34" Long # C45048. •Weight capacity when used with 24" length: ?Maximum gross trailer weight: 6,000 lbs ?Maximum GTW when used with weight distribution: 8,000 lbs ?Maximum tongue weight: 600 lbs ?Maximum TW when used with weight distribution: 800 lbs •Weight capacity when used with 34" length: ?Maximum gross trailer weight: 4,500 lbs ?Maximum GTW when used with weight distribution: 6,000 lbs ?Maximum tongue weight: 450 lbs ?Maximum TW when used with weight distribution: 600 lbs
