Replace the side plate assemblies that came with your Demco Autoslide above-bed fifth-wheel trailer hitch (DM8550040, DM8550034 or DM8550035). Bolts onto the hitch base so that you can attach your hitch to your universal above-bed rails.

Jeff Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the replacement side plates for the Demco Hijacker Autoslide above bed mount fifth wheel trailer hitches. Now these will replace the side plates that came standard on your Demco Hijacker Autoslide above bed fifth wheel trailer hitches. It is designed to fit the Demco 13,000 pound, part number D-M-8-5-5-0-0-4-0 model. Fits the 18,000 model, part number D-M-8-5-5-0-0-3-4.
And it also fits the Demco 21,000 pound model, D-M-8-5-5-0-0-3-5. All three of those models we do sell separately on our website. Now when these side plates are attached to your Autoslide assembly it'll allow you to install your fifth wheel hitch in to your universal above bed base rails. These are a simple bolt on installation tier hitch base. You can see it does have multiple rows of bolt holes.
And the reason they do that is it let's you adjust your hitch height that you need for your application. It'll give you three different hitch height settings. Either 15 1/4 inches, 16 1/2 inches, or 18 inches. And the hitch height is critical because you wanna be able when you're towing your fifth wheel to be as level as possible. And the hitch height is always measured from the bottom of the truck bed to the top of the hitch head.
Now the finish on these, they have a nice rust resistant black powder coat finish on them. It is a steel construction. Does include everything shown here. Includes all the mounting hardware. All the pins and clips that'll attach it to your base rails.

The steel is very thick and solid, good quality, and will not budge one bit and has perfect adjustment settings for under bed covers.
This product fit perfectly and installed with ease.

Fits my 2021 Chevy perfectly. Very heavy duty, but it can still be handled by hand. Since the locking pins are adjustable, it is easy to get it to drop into the pins. Fits the Demco 5th wheel as it should, just drops right into the slots without having to adjust anything. Locking pins go right in also without having to adjust anything
Needed different mounting plates for my Demo 5th wheel hitch for my newer truck. The folks at etrailer were very knowledgeable and helpful. The parts fit perfect. Easy install instructions as well.

Sorry no picture but the adapter plates worked great with my existing Demco 21,000 auto side hitch to lock it I to my Demco removable rail adapter plate in my 2020 Chevy 3500hd highcountry dually... thanks the gange at E trailer for helping with the right choices ..
I recently purchased a new truck and was met with a mounting issue when I tried to put my Demco Super Slider 5th wheel hitch from my old truck into my new 2019 Chevy Silvarado. I had a trip planned for the following week so I called etrailer and explained my problem. They troubleshot the issue and were able to get me the adapter plates needed in two day so my trip was not postponed.
My only issue was during installation the side plates have to be placed about 5" that are forward of the main unit. I was not replacing the plates, but converting it from a Ford Puck mount so I didn't have a reference to initially look at. I reviewed several video's until I saw one with a picture that showed the same offset. Then all was good. A few pictures of the side rail installed on the hitch in the installation manual would save a user time.
On the initial order the product was not in stock, etrailer was upfront and told me
when it was expected to arrive and offered to cancel my order .
The Demco adapter arrived earlier than they told me and the part fit great
and assembled easily.

I found a used Demco 5th wheel that fit a Ford F-250, so we needed the parts to convert to a Ram 2500. Next step was to call Demco to get the proper parts numbers. And they recommended calling Etrailer. We did just that and they were on board with all of the parts we needed. They were shipped that
day and arrived 3 days later…..what a relief, as we needed to get this installed
and get gone. Thank you boys at Etrailer.
Called to get a little more information about this product and the person i spoke with was very knowledgeable and friendly. Parts were just what i needed to complete my hitch install. Product got here ahead of projected time. Price was about 20 bucks higher for same brackets [online], but they didn't have anyone to ask questions to. Seems to be a great place to buy from.
The side plates work like they should, I was damaging my hitch before I installed them. This solved the problem and as usual etrailer did an awesome job!

When I first ordered this I could tell the guy I was talking to on the phone didn't know anymore than I did. One reason I didn't get everything I needed. I called back a week later while trying to install this and couldn't figure out why one peice wouldn't work with another. After watching U-tube I didn't have this part here and when I called back I was able to talk to a lady that was very smart and full of information. I only wish I could of talked with her the first time. I still haven't got this installed yet cause I can't find help with lifting this into the truck and on blocks.
Thanks to the Etrailer team for pulling this order together and expediting for me. Went without a ‘hitch’ (pun intended), lol!
