Video Transcript for Ultimate Overview of the Roller Shaft with Pal Nuts for Boat Trailer Rollers

Hi there boat trailer owners. Today, we're going to be taking a look at CE Smith's replacement keel roller rods. And this is what our replacement roller rod's going to look like. These are available in either two different diameters, whether it be five eighths, like we have here or half inch, you just want to match it up to your old one. And they're also available in varying lengths. So that way you can get the proper span for your particular trailer.

And all of them are zinc coated to protect them from rusting corrosion, which is very common on your boat trailers since you're pulling it in and out of the boat dock all the time, you're next to the Lake. They often get wet. So this way we can ensure that we're going to have long lasting operation of this rod, and it's not going to seize up inside of here due to rust and corrosion. Also included with it you'll receive cap nuts for each side of your rod. And these are nice because once you press them on there, they're pretty much a permanent fit, you have to really try to get them off of there. And since this is a roller, it doesn't ever really get forces side to side, but we don't want to use regular thread on nuts on something like this since it does roll.

That could potentially cause the nuts to back off. So this is an ideal solution. If your old keel roller or keel roller rod are worn out and need replacement, the replacement shaft here is going to be a great option for you because it's kind of a one use thing, unless you can get yourself some new cap nuts. And even if you do get new cabinets, if it's heavily corroded and worn down, those cap nuts may not fit as tight and as properly as they used to.So when replacing your keel roller, when it's wore out, I highly recommend also replacing the keel roller rod. The rod is going to be made of solid steel with a zinc coating.

So it's going to be extremely durable holding up the weight that is pressed down from the boat sitting on it there. And the zinc coat is going to protect it against rust and corrosion. If your keel roller is worn out. And that's why you're looking at getting replacements. We also carry the keel rollers here at etrailer.com.

So you can get a set up just like this. You can see how nice and smooth it is, and we've got a nice surface for our boat to rest on.Today we're going to be replacing the keel roller's shaft because our key roller's all damaged up and in order to get the roller off, we have to take the shaft out and the nuts typically get damaged and are not reusable. So we're just going to be replacing it all as an assembly. Start by removing our roller's nuts. We're just going to get behind it with a pair of pliers. We're just going to pop that cap off of there. inaudible 00:02:18. Our shaft will then slide out. We can remove our roller and then install our new components. We've got our shaft here and I find it easier to get one cap nut on first. So we're just going to set that on top and we're just going to hammer it into place. I'm going to use a rubber mallet just to help minimize how much dings I make on the little cap. And it's really that simple. And you can see here, there's no way I'm going to push this off. If I wanted to get this off of here, I would almost have to take another hammer and smash it off of there because you're just not going to be able to pull it off. Now we can just take our roller. We're going to set it into place. Slide our rod all the way through the roller, until it comes out on the other side. We'll then take our cap, we're going to set it into place. Now that we got it just barely started. We're going to finish tapping it on. I'm going to use a hammer on the other side, because it might hurt your hip or something else if you're holding it. And we can see our shaft spins, our roller spins and it's nice and solid, it's not going anywhere. Thought you need a hatchet. And that completes our look at CE Smith's replacement keel roller rods.

  • Picking Out 10 inch Roller Setup for Boat Trailer With End Caps
We have a 10 inch keel roller with the part # YR10000 which then for the endcaps you'd just need the part # YR134-5. You may also be interested a new bracket like part # CE10304G and a roller shaft part # CE10726A.

  • How to Identify Replacement Bearings & Seals for Magic Tilt Boat Trailer
The best way to confirm the correct replacement wheel bearings and seals for your 1999 Magic Tilt boat trailer is to pull one of the hubs and note the inner and outer bearing numbers and seal number. You can then directly search on those part numbers to find replacements. Trailer makers do alternate parts sometimes so even if you have the owner's manual and it says the trailer uses bearings X and Y, they may not be what is in the hubs. It is always best to check the existing parts. We...

  • Replacement Gasket for a 2004 Mastercraft Tandem Axle Boat Trailer
If you could provide me with a part number off of one of your hubs I would be more then happy to look and see if we've got a gasket, solution, or a replacement hub. I do not have any way of knowing what hub is on your boat trailer though. There's no database where I can look up a part number, Mastercraft does not post that information online, and unless you're the only owner there's a possibility it's not even the original hub.

  • Roller Shaft Dimensions for a 10" Keel Roller
To fit a 10" keel roller like the CE Smith Keel Roller # CE29518 you will want the Roller Shaft with Pal Nuts # CE10726A. This 5/8" shaft is 11" long and comes with the 2 pal nuts to secure the shaft inside the brackets. If you wish to add the Yates Endcap # YR135-5Y you will want to use a Roller Shaft with Pal Nuts # CE10727A that is 13" long to account for the additional length of the endcaps.

  • Roller Shaft for 10 Inch Boat Trailer Keel Roller
All the roller shafts we offer are constructed of zinc plated steel. Unfortunately, we don't offer any in stainless. The Yates Rubber # YR1000Y 10 inch keel roller you'd looked at would typically use an 11 x 5/8 inch shaft like the # CE10726A which includes the pal nuts. The roller would typically be mounted to the boat trailer using a panel bracket like part # CE10304G.

  • Brackets to Install Keel Rollers Above a Boat Trailers Frame
If I understand what you're trying to do I think we can help. We have the Adjustable Mounting Brackets for Keel Rollers # CE32004G. They'll install onto your trailer's frame and will hold a keel roller that is the width of the frame plus 2 inches. If you need a 10 roller # YR1000Y will work on the brackets using # CE10726A. If I missed the mark and misunderstood you just let me know.

The correct roller and shaft with Pal nuts for the # YR10000 roller is the # CE10726A. Without knowing the dimensions of your shallow V beam it would be hard for me to tell you exactly which bracket will work for you. Two of the most common mounting brackets for this roller is the adjustable # CE32004G or the panel bracket # CE10304G. If you wanted to tell me the dimensions you find, I'd be more than happy to help you find a bracket that will work for your application. I have linked...

  • Correct Roller Shaft for CE Smith Side Guide Roller for Boat Trailers
The reason that you are having difficulty finding a roller shaft for the CE Smith Side Guide Roller # CE29562 is because it is the replacement middle roller for the CE Smith Roller-Style Guide-Ons # CE27610. For this application you would use something like the 12-3/4" x 1/2" # CE10705A because there needs to be some extra length for the end pieces. If you are needing a standard roller then I recommend the Yates Keel Roller # YR10000 which is 10" long and works great with the 11" x 5/8"...

You are going to need a 5/8 inch diameter shaft and pal nuts. You could use # CE10721A which comes with both. The shaft is 5-1/2 inches long. We also have other lengths that come with pal nuts: # CE10726A for 11-1/8 inches, # CE10725A for 9-1/4 inches, # CE10727A for 13-1/2 inches, or # CE10722A for 6-1/4 inches.
