The Curt CrossWing delivers heavy-duty performance in a package you can lift by yourself. Weighing just 60 lbs—65 percent lighter than most traditional 5th-wheel hitches—it’s built from premium steel and still rated for 20,000 lbs gross towing weight and 5,000 lbs vertical load. Built-in grip points make lifting and positioning simple, so you can install or remove it on your own without giving up strength or stability.
The unique 2-piece design replaces the traditional jaw system with a pin box coupler that bolts around the king pin. The open-faced hitch head acts like a funnel, guiding the coupler into place so you can see the connection from your backup camera. There’s no more fighting to line up jaws around a pin—the angled contact surface and clear view make coupling fast and stress-free.
Inside the hitch head, Curt’s ShockDrop isolator absorbs bumps, chucking, and vibrations before they reach your truck or trailer. This polyurethane cushion sits at the pivot point to control motion on rough roads, giving you a smoother ride and better control while protecting your towing setup from wear and tear.
The CrossWing’s head moves fore, aft, and side-to-side to keep the connection steady even on uneven ground. The built-in 5" offset adds extra cab clearance when turning, helping reduce stress during tight maneuvers. With three height settings from 16-3/8" to 20-3/8", it’s easy to dial in your setup for level towing and proper bed rail clearance.
Installation stays simple thanks to the included rail adapter made for OEM prep packages. Just drop the base into the puck receivers and pin it in place—no complex alignment or extra tools needed. The corrosion-resistant carbide black powder coat keeps it looking sharp after many miles of travel, so this hitch is ready whenever you are.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Curt 5th Wheel Adapter Rails for your Chevrolet and GMC trucks that have the factory 5th wheel prep package. Now, this is a custom fit part, it is designed to fit the 2016 to 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 trucks with the OEM prep package, and on a custom fit part like this, I do like to recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle, and it'll show you if this will work for your application. Now, this will let you easily transfer your existing 5th wheel hitch from a previous truck to the new factory underbed puck equip trucks. This will convert the factory underbed system to the standard 5th wheel base rails. Now, they do use a quarter-turn anchoring system for quick installation and removal, wanna zoom in to show you a close up of that.
We're just gonna do one corner, but you'll do this at each corner, there's four corners. But basically, when you go to install this, what you'll do is pop off this clip, and then you'll rotate this handle out a quarter of a turn, and when you do that, if you noticed right down here, this tab is rotating also, so that'll open it up. You'll do that at each corner, and now, you're ready to drop this whole system right into the underbed factory system. Once you drop it in, the tabs will drop into place, you'll rotate this handle back just like that, and it rotates that tab to lock it in, and again, you'll do it at all four corners. Once you get it locked in, put your pin and clip back in, and that locks the handle in place, you're all ready to go.
You can also adjust the anchors right here, these can be adjusted to help eliminate any chucking between the legs and the underbed platform, right here you can put a wrench in here, there's a cotter pin that you can pull out, put a wrench in here, and tighten it up or loosen it, whatever you need to. Now, this does also include the four pins and clips that'll allow you to secure the 5th wheel to these adapter rails. Again, the specs on this, it is designed to fit the Chevrolet and GMC trucks with the 5th wheel prep package, capacity on this is 30,000 pounds gross towing weight capacity, and it has a 7,500 pound vertical load limit. It is super nice how much easier it is to manage this one vs. other styles on the market. Really happy that this got rid of the chucking! We'd love a photo of the new set up if you feel like sending one in. I can add it to your original review :)

One later and Still love it, I switched trucks to one that has a puck system, but bought an adapter plate cause I really like the hitch. The only drawback is leaving the adapter on the camper. If you have to move it with something else you can always take the two bolts off and remove it.

Two things have occurred to me over the past year: First, as I previously stated, this hitch is lighter than most any other “FW hitch” — light enough to be the target of “crimes of opportunity”. Easily enough rectified, Curt manufacturers a lock 23256 which offers some deterrence to theft. Second item, which may or not be an issue for others, pulling with our first, traditional FW hitch I made it a point to run our rig across a scale, GVWRGCWR was within limits. Recently we crossed another scale, I was surprised to see the GCWR had actually gone down, then I remembered the Crosswing… our previous hitch was HEAVY. Just a nice surprise.

Other than the handle on the locking bar coming loose, the hitch has performed well. Curt responded by sending me a new handle- with the special screw- to correct the issue. Something to monitor if you have the Crosswing.
