Can Curt Crosswing Hitch be Used with OEM Puck Adapter for GM Rail Kits

Updated 03/05/2026 | Published 03/01/2026

Question:

My tow vehicle is a 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD, standard bed, with OEM puck system. I am looking at fifth wheel hitches and have come across the Curt Crosswing however I see you don’t list it as being compatible. Is there a reason I wouldn’t be able to either get the industry standard style if I got the Curt 16027 puck to industry standard rail conversion? Really like the thought of the lightweight hitch rather than a 200+ lb slider for when I want the whole bed back.

Hey Ryan, the Curt CrossWing Lightweight 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C86JR is compatible with the Adapter Rails for Curt 5th Wheel Hitch part # C88KR. The fifth wheel hitch simply drops into the adapter and secures with hitch pins and then the adapter drops into the factory prep package and secures with locking handles. This would be a really great lightweight solution like you noted!

I have the Crosswing and use it with the standard bed rails. No puck system in my truck. Works well, easy to remove the whole hitch from the bed, and hitching to my 5th wheel is easy too. Because the Crosswing attachment on the pin box swivels, it makes hitching and unhitching easy.

I've had the Crosswing for a year now and love it. I have the rail system on a standard bed Ford. I really like how light it is compared to my old Patriot Slider and the extra few inches room it gives you for turning is also a big plus. This 60 year old can easily take it in and out myself. I did have to buy a new big torque wrench to get the bolts up to spec. Tows great, we are based in Texas but towed up the the Great Lakes last year and currently in Florida, no issues at all.

I’ve been using the Crosswing for a couple years now. The CW turned out to be everything I hoped for: “light” weight (it’s a solid hunk—although at 70, I can still pick it up!), easy to latch/unlatch, quiet, solid and reduced chucking… actually, the biggest problem I’ve had is with all the “professionals” who take one look and immediately dismiss it as “unsafe”! IMHO, those Luddites couldn’t be more wrong. For example: in a 55mph interstate construction zone we crossed over a rather large “repair”… a hump which would have thrown us around the cab if not seatbelted in. After gathering the rig back under control I immediately looked back to see if we still had our FW attached… no worries, it was still securely following us thanks, in part, to the CW.

I use the parts Jamison listed in my 24 Chevy 2500 since September 2024. Works great, easy to hookup, reduced chucking, one man removable (I'm in my 70s). The shoulder pin fell out and was difficult to source, I'd suggest finding a spare. Also, I have to remove the piece attached to the pin box when having the FW serviced. I carry the tools to remove and reattach myself to insure proper torque.

Thought I'd mention, I turn a little past 90 degrees to get my FW in my driveway. Plenty of clearance for both my old 32 ft GD Reflection and my new 34 footer.
