2018 Jayco North Point 377RLBH Lippert 1716 Pin Box - Upgrade To Gooseneck With Cushioned Rubber

Updated 11/03/2025 | Published 10/29/2025

Question:

Our 2018 Jayco North Point 377RLBH shows a Lippert 1716 pin box, but the trailer’s GVWR is around 15,500 lbs. I want to switch to a gooseneck setup — which GooseTech should I be looking at?

Good question, Rebecca - and I’m glad you double-checked the numbers. The MORryde GooseTech # MR39MV fits trailers with a Lippert 1716 pin box and a gross trailer weight between 11,500 and 14,000 lbs, so yours is actually just above its intended range. For your 15,500-lb North Point, you’ll want to step up to the MORryde GooseTech # MR99MV, which fits the Lippert 1716 and is rated for 14k-18k GTW

The new MORrydes not only handle the extra weight safely, they're also a nice upgrade: it connects straight to your gooseneck ball and uses a rubber shear-spring to smooth out bumps and reduce “chucking.” And since it’s a gooseneck setup, you’ll also need to add safety chains # GY49GR, which is typically required by law with every GooseTech conversion.

What type of truck are you using for this setup?

Thanks, Andrew. We’re pulling it with a 2021 RAM 3500 DRW long bed with the factory gooseneck prep package. Would we need an offset ball for better turning clearance, or is that only for short beds?

@Rebecca That’s a great setup, Rebecca - and with the long-bed RAM you won’t need an offset ball. Your factory gooseneck ball places the pivot almost directly above the axle, so you’ll have full turning clearance with the # MR97MV. Offset balls are really just for short-beds. Just confirm that your OEM ball and chain anchors are rated for 30 K (likely stamped on the shank), and you’re ready to roll. That GooseTech will feel much smoother than your stock pin box once you’re on the highway.
