How To Use Flatbed Gooseneck Ball With 5th Wheel Toy Hauler

Updated 11/03/2025 | Published 10/29/2025

Question:

I’d like to use my flatbed’s gooseneck ball for our new fifth-wheel toy hauler instead of buying another hitch. Can that be done safely?

You bet, Cliff. Instead of using a bolt-on adapter that can stress the frame, you can swap your trailer’s pin box for a dedicated gooseneck-style one. For your Reflection 303RLS which usually runs a Lippert 1716 pin box, the MORryde GooseTech # MR39MV is the right match. It’s a true upgrade - cushioned with rubber to cut out the harsh jarring and completely eliminates the need for that heavy hitch.

Want to double check that you indeed have the 1716 and not something like the Lippert 1116 which would need # MR77MV? I've attached a help article that covers this.

Thanks, Andrew. Ours is a Grand Design Momentum 350G toy hauler with the Lippert 1621 pin box. Does that change anything?

@Cliff Good follow-up, Cliff - yes, that’s helpful! Since your Momentum 350G runs the Lippert 1621 pin box, you’ll want the MORryde GooseTech # MR97MV instead of the 1716 version. It’s rated for 14K–18K trailers like yours, and it’ll bolt right on using your existing hardware. That GooseTech gives you the same cushioned ride, direct connection to your gooseneck ball, and a wide-open bed when unhitched. Don’t forget to include safety chains # GY49GR when you install it as they’re required for any gooseneck conversion.
