RAM Truck With Factory Gooseneck Hitch - How To Pull Keystone Montana 5th Wheel With It

Updated 11/03/2025 | Published 10/29/2025

Question:

I just bought a RAM with a factory gooseneck ball but my Montana fifth-wheel uses a king pin. Can I make those work together? 5th wheel is about 12k lbs.

You sure can, Harold. Many Keystone Montanas like yours use a Lippert 1716 pin box, which can be swapped for MORryde’s GooseTech # MR39MV. It turns your fifth-wheel into a gooseneck setup, connects right to your factory ball, and uses rubber cushioning for a smoother ride. It’s lighter, cleaner, and you’ll never have to wrestle that big hitch again in your pickup bed.

If you can let me know which model the Montana is, or more importantly what model your pin box is, I can make sure we match up the correct MORryde upgrade! I've also attached a link to help you figure out which pin box you have.

Appreciate it! It’s a 2019 Montana 3120RL and I double-checked; it does have the Lippert 1116 box. Would the MR77MV work instead then?

@Harold Exactly right, Harold - your 3120RL’s Lippert 1116 box makes the MORryde GooseTech # MR77MV the correct fit. It’s rated 11.5K–14K GTW, which matches your 12K perfectly. You’ll get the same smooth ride from the built-in rubber cushion and full use of your RAM’s bed space. Since you’re connecting to the factory RAM gooseneck ball, be sure to add the safety chain kit # GY49GR to complete the conversion. That RAM prep package is a great match for this setup.
