Trailer Hitch Installation - 2015 Chevrolet Equinox - Draw-Tite

Today in our 2015 Chevrolet Equinox, we'll be having a look at, and installing, the Draw-Tite Class III Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 76028. All right, here's what our hitch looks likes installed. As you see, it fits in nicely behind where the cover was in our fascia. When you're standing behind the vehicle, the majority of the hitch frame will be hidden behind your fascia. Now if you look over towards the side of our receiver, we'll see that we have two pin holes. The one closes to the front is our larger, 5/8" diameter hitch pin hole, to secure any hitch mounted accessories that we may have. The one closest to the rear of the vehicle is our J-Pin stabilization device hole.

Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Installation - 2018 Chevrolet Equinox

Today on our 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Draw-Tite Class 2 custom fit trailer hitch receiver, part number 36642. Here's what our hitch looks like fully installed. The cross tube is going to be mostly hidden up under the bumper and we're mainly going to see the receiver tube. This hitch is going to be great if you're mainly concerned with putting a bike rack or a cargo carrier, since it is a Class 2 hitch, it's going to give you that 1 1/4 by 1 1/4 receiver tube opening, and it does have that reinforced collar, giving it a nice finished look. Our hitch is going to use the standard 1/2 inch pin and clip. It's not included but you can pick one up on our website using part number PC2. Now, as far as the safety chain loops are concerned, it's going to be a rolled steel, stock style welded underneath our receiver tube, and as you can see, we're not going to have any trouble getting most size hooks on or off.

Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Installation - 2018 Chevrolet Equinox

Today on our 2018 Chevrolet Equinox we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Draw-Tite, class III custom fit trailer hitch receiver, part number 76419. So here's what our hitch looks like when it's fully installed. Now, our cross tube is going to sit nicely behind the bumper and be mostly concealed, and we're really only going to see the receiver tube sticking out. Now, it is going to give us that two inch by two inch opening because it is a class III and it's going to be a very versatile hitch. Whether we decide to mount a ball mount, a bike rack or even a cargo carrier, we're going to have a lot of different options. Now, our hitch is going to feature a standard 5/8 pin and clip. It's not included but you can pick one up on our website using part number PC3. Now, the rearward hole here is going to be for a J-pin stabilization device, which is going to be great if any of your accessories don't have a built-in anti-rattle. Our safety chain loops are going to be a rolled steel stock style welded to the bottom of our receiver tube. As you can see, we're not going to have any trouble getting most hooks on or off. Now, our hitch is going to feature a 675 pound tongue weight.

Best 2018 Chevrolet Equinox Trailer Hitch Options

Today we're going to be taking a look at the best hitch options for your 2018 Chevrolet Equinox. Here on top we're going to have the CURT Class 3 hitch. Here in the middle is going to be our Draw-Tite Class 3. Then finally down at the bottom it's going to be a Draw-Tite Class 2 hitch. Now our Class 2 hitch here is going to be geared more towards a person who start to put a bike rack or maybe even a cargo carrier on the back of their Equinox. It is still going to be able to two very light-duty applications. Now our two Class 3 hitches are going to be a little bit more versatile. They're still going to be able to accept many different accessories but they have a much higher weight rating and we'll be able to tow a little bit more with these.

Curt Trailer Hitch Installation - 2018 Chevrolet Equinox

Today on our 2018 Chevrolet Equinox we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt Class III Custom Fit Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number C13307. Here's what our hitch looks like when it's fully installed. It's going to sit nicely below the bumper and we are going to be able to see the cross tube. This is a class III hitch so it's going to give us a 2x2 inch opening and it has that nice reinforced collar giving it a clean finished look. This hitch is going to be very versatile because we're still going to be able to mount a ball mount and tow with it, but at the same time have plenty of other accessories such as a bike rack or cargo carrier that we can mount as well. Our hitch is going to feature a standard 5/8 pin and clip. They're not included, but you can pick one up on our website using part number PC3. Now the safety chain loops are going to be a plate style welded to the bottom of our receiver and as you can see we're not going to have much problems getting most size hooks on or off.

As you can see it's nice and hidden underneath our bumper cover here. The only part that really sticks out is the Class II 1-1/4 opening right here and our safety chain loops which are on this angular plate right here below our hitch receiver. Easy to use. If you have some larger diameter safety chains on your trailer, you may need to swap out to a smaller one so they can fit through this opening easy.

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2017 Chevrolet Equinox - Draw-Tite

Today in our 2017 Chevrolet Equinox we'll be installing the Draw-Tite Max Frame Class 3 Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 76028. Here's what our hitch looks like installed. As you can see, it's nice and ticked up underneath our bumper cover here. The one part really hanging down is the class 3 two inch receiver right here, our safety chain loops and then the main frame of the hitch right here. It looks like a 5-3 installation because it doesn't hang down too much and the angle of the frame on the hitch follows the bumper lines. This hitch features a 4500 pound max gross trailer weight rating and a 675 pound max for its tongue weight rating. This hitch does support the use of weight distribution. However, the numbers don't change as far as capacity.

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2017 Chevrolet Equinox - Draw-Tite

The only part that's exposed is our actual class two 1-1/4" receiver opening and our safety chain loops, and about a foot or so of our frame of the hitch itself. These safety chain loops are nice and easy to use.

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2017 Chevrolet Equinox - Curt

Today on our 2017 Chevrolet Equinox we'll be installing the curt class three trailer hitch receiver, part number 13591. Here's what our hitch looks like installed. As you can see it's a nice clean look underneath our vehicle. Nothing's hanging down below the bumper cover at all. It's all hidden bu our receiver. If you look at it, it's about flush with the back end of the bumper, it's recessed a little bit actually. We don't have to worry about running our knees or shins into it when we're loading any cargo in to our hatch area.

  • Bike Carrier for Giant Crossover and Raleigh Folding Bike and 2015 Chevy Equinox

Because the folding bike has such small wheels a carrier such as the Thule Doubletrack # TH990XT would be the best option since the wheels will be supported and the hooks will come down to secure the frame. I have included a link to a video review of this rack. The other option is to use the bike rack you have and use an adapter bar, # 64005, on the folding bike.

But to the bottom of the hitch it would be approximately 12-3/4 inches (subtracting 1-1/2 inches for the thickness of the metal and the receiver opening).
