Question:

Hello- Im looking to replace hub assemblies with brake drums/shoes on my 2015 Keystone Hideout 27DBS travel trailer. Do you have any recommendations for factory equivalent replacements?

I sure do Michael! It looks like your 2015 Keystone Hideout 27DBS travel trailer comes with EZ lube axles, to replace the hubs with a factory-equivalent option, I recommend the Dexter Trailer Hub & Drum Assembly item # 84546UC3-EZ.

The Dexter Trailer Hub & Drum Assembly item # 84546UC3-EZ come pre-greased and prepacked ready to install with all the bearings, seals, nuts, and pins you'll need to replace one of your hubs. It is sold individually and has a 5 on 4-1/2 lug nut pattern.

To replace your brake assemblies we have two options. One set you'll need to manually adjust after installation and the other set is self adjusting. You'll need one set per axle.

Manual Adjust - Dexter Electric Trailer Brakes item # 23-26-27

Self Adjust - Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brakes item # 23-468-469

Did you have a parts failure or are you just doing maintenance to get ready for the upcoming season?

Perfect, the hubs are a little more than I'm wanting to put into an 11 year old trailer (that we will probably replace in a year or two). The new brakes are a must, but do you think it would be worth just inspecting the hubs and replacing the bearings if everything looks good? Also, do you sell anything to help with sagging leaf springs? I replaced them with some 4000 lb springs around 2019 or 2020, but they still sag on the door side. Do you sell anything that's like a Timbren setup that might work, outside of just putting new leaf springs on again?

@MichaelK I totally get where you're at. If there's nothing wrong with the hubs, regardless of whether or not you're selling the trailer, I would just replace the bearings and seals. The item # BK2-100 kit is what you'll need to do this. They're sold individually so you'll need one per hub. If you find a reason to replace a hub, you can use our item # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K to cut some cost. To save some money on replacing your brakes, you can use our etrailer Electric Trailer Brakes item # AKEBRK-35 over the Dexter ones. They are manually adjusted. I do have some suspension support options, however if your leaf springs are flattened out they're not going to be that helpful or comfortable. I know you said one side was sagging not flattened but I just wanted to point that out. They are the SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs item # TSS-106-40 if your trailer's axles are mounted above your leaf springs. Or item # TSS-107-40 if your axles are mounted below your springs. You'll need one set per axle.

Make sure you get the lug spacing correct and it goes back on easily. Made my replacement easy
