One year in already? Wow time flies! These sumo springs have been a GREAT addition to our 32' travel trailer. Easy to install and they've been perfect ever since. I definitely recommend these!

Still so glad we got these ... Things stay put in the trailer, no matter how bumpy the roads get!

by:

Easy install. It took me approximately 3 hours for the entire project. That's cleaning a few things up also. I did not notice much difference in "body roll". Honestly,, I never had much before. Now, anytime going over rougher roads, railroad tracks, etc.... That was a big difference. It took a lot of that movement out. I hardly knew the trailer was going over it. I installed these on a 5th wheel.

by:

The only reason I can't give a 5 star is that we haven't taken the trailer out yet to test the sumo's.
From the install point of view, they were great! easy to follow instructions and assembly.

My only suggestion comes from my own mistake. Maybe consider adding an additional line to your step 1. "Ensure the landing gear / jacks / stabilizers are retracted before taking measurements". I had measured and installed two sumo's before I realized the gears were still down which, obviously, messed up my measurements. Thus I had to take off the sumo's, hook up the 5th wheel, raise the jacks, then restart the process. Went smooth after that. My daughter installed one with no problem. Thanks.

I believe they are working as advertised. They smooth out the bumps felt inside the trailer. I also installed sumos on our pickup. They make a HUGE difference when pulling our 5th wheel. Very satisfied.

by:

Fantastic upgrade for the cheap factory suspension!

by:

These are great. Exactly what my trailer needed. I had to cut off about a 1/2 inch off the top to make them fit/work for the preload on the instructions, but it was easy to cut/saw with a good bread knife and they made the difference I was expecting.

by:

I think I will like them

by:

excellent upgrade, another item that should be standard on towable RVs. installed during maintenance and greasable shackle installation. noticed less sway, and reduced harshness over bridge transitions.

by:

Perfect add on to my cargo trailer hunting camper!

by:

I made some brackets to bolt to the frame. Now I have 100% contact with the Sumo Springs. The are working extremely well!

by:

Installation was very straightforward and they made a significant difference in pulling.

Springs are still getting the job done~!

by:

Was easy to install I removed the wheels which made it easy to access the u bolt flange that they mount to I moved the propane line further away from the area, took about an hour to complete install which included greasing the spring mounts.

by:

Look great and were very easy to install after watching the vidio on the site.

I totally agree, they look great! Also, I'm glad that the video was helpful when you did the install.

by:

Just fantastic. I had the SumoSprings installed on our single-axle, 4100lb GVWR travel trailer (a 2016 Gulf Stream Vista Cruiser 19ERD). I'm amazed at the improvement in how the trailer tows. There's almost no sway and the trailer feels more "planted" on the road. When driving over rough roads or railroad tracks, I had previously felt the trailer pull hard as it went over, but with the SumoSprings, I usually can't even feel or hear the trailer in the same situation. I was worried that the stiffer ride would make items in the trailer bounce around more, but the opposite is true. For instance, the cushions on our rear dinette would often go akimbo during a trip, but now they stay in place and we haven't had any cabinets or drawers open up on their own. Overall, I'm really happy with this upgrade.

by:

Great product works as it should. Etrailer is the best!!!!!

by:

good product. less movement of things inside trailer when traveling, less visible movement of trailer when watching in mirrors, less tugging feel of trailer on truck when going over bumps. Most important to me, less screw loosening found after 6K road miles. Install was pretty easy, did need to mix and match spacers to get proper compressed initial fit on all. I was told Sumo Springs were quick fix for road shock issues vs other options and now I agree.

by:

Kit came with more than I needed but I can see where some trailers might have used different hardware and all scenarios were included in kit. I went with these to help eliminate my tires rubbing against bottom of trailer floor on rough roads "California" and give an overall smoother ride hopefully extending the lifespan of our trailer. I also Installed Dexter EZ Flex at the same time.

by:

Simple call to identify part number needed, Fast delivery, Clear instructions, Extremely easy install.

Great spring support solution to resolve bounce and sway! Perfect addition to our 2019 Riverstone 5th Wheel

by:

When I decided to replace the RV trailer leaf springs I decided to update the suspension by adding Sumo Springs as well. The installation was simple and quick. Between etrailer.com and Sumo Springs websites all the information is available for the do it your-selfer. Thanks etrailer.com for shipping to Canada. I will continue to support your company.

by:

Install was relatively easy and product worked as designed. Added stability to my trailer going down the road. Very happy with the purchase.

by:

These were very easy to installed and have done a great job smoothing out the ride of the camper. It has made a big difference in how the camper tows and has calmed it down with crosswinds and when big trucks pass by. We did not have the clearance to install a shock kit and the tech at etrailer highly recommended these, I am glad he did. So far I am very happy with this product.

These are still going strong after a year of abuse from these horrible roads. I still feel that they have done a lot to smooth out the ride of the trailer.

by:

Great fit on my 2019 Imagine 2800BH. For anyone with a similar trailer, no spacers needed, so save your time and just jack up each side until the wheels are off the ground and pop these in.

by:

These went on the trailer very easily. The trailer is much more stable when in camp and on the road.

I installed the TSS-107-40 on a 32ft. 7500lb. travel trailer about a year ago. I also installed front axle Sumo springs SSF-302-47 and rear axle Sumo Springs SSR-312-54 on my 2022 Ram 2500. This is a review for all 3. I Have been on 7 camping trips since the Sumo springs were installed on my trailer. There's a noticeable difference on good roads. Smooths out the ride and less body roll when trucks pass me so it helps with sway. But I just took a trip down I95 through SC and the road was terrible. I mean SCDOT should be ashamed. Especially any bridges - even small ones over creeks - the dips and ramps before and after the bridges were terrible. You felt like you were being launched off of a ramp. This is where these things really did their job. They kept the contents of the trailer from being tossed and kept the trailer tracking well and immediately dampened bounce and porpoising. I also installed front axle Sumo springs SSF-302-47 and rear axle Sumo Springs SSR-312-54 on my 2022 Ram 2500 and again - noticeable difference immediately in the smoothness of the ride while towing. I bought the heavier weight springs and was worried about the stiffness of the ride with no trailer - and there is stiffness - but man am I glad I had them on the Interstate going through SC. Before I got them I could feel my suspension bottom out front and rear in certain situations. Now - not a problem. You'll have to be ok with a stiffer ride when not pulling a trailer - but you'll be happy you have them during stressful highway driving. I keep a lot of weight on my truck even without a trailer - bed cap, bed slide, tools and other items so that helps with the stiffness when not towing. I also installed the spacer on the truck rear Sumo Springs so they are engaged all the time. Not installing the spacers may help with the stiffness. I may take my spacers out. Easy installation for the most part. I did it with 2 jacks and a jack stand. The trailer Sumo Springs were even easier than the truck springs. Just be aware that these springs - IMO - are not to improve the comfort of your truck ride in general but more to improve the performance of your truck while under significant load. Having said that, they did help a lot with body roll while cornering with no trailer which was kind of a nice bonus. The rear springs also helped with squatting under the hitch weight of the trailer. You may also notice on the trailer spring picture that the gas line had to be re-routed a bit - there's a kit that comes with the springs that makes that very easy - you're able to use the existing holes.

Still working well. I am very impressed with their good effect on the ride quality of my truck and trailer.

by:

Works as expected taking the bounce out the awful New England roadways…especially the bridges on the interstates. My 32ft. Travel Trailer recovers in half the time seemingly. Well worth the investment.

by:

Fast and easy install. Have kept my travel trailer’s cheap China leaf springs from re-shaping themselves into an ‘n,’ from the factory ‘u’ shape. Highly Satisfied!

  • Replacement Pin Box Option For A Lippert Turning Point Rotating Pin Box
The Lippert Turning Point has a specific bolt pattern that only has one replacement so far, the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box # GY48GR. This is a gooseneck adapter though so you'd have to switch out the hitch for a gooseneck ball for this to work. The torsion head will help reduce road shock and chucking transferred to your truck so it is worth considering, but you'll also be moving your pivot point back to the truck so you could run into clearance issues if...

For the leaf springs, you will need to get the spring eye to spring eye measurement or the flat length as outlined in the article I attached further down on this page. You don't want to go too crazy with a higher capacity or you're going to get a rough ride. 4,000 lb leaf springs like the 25-1/4" Long # e57SR or the 26" Long # e22YR would be a good choice if they match...

  • Can the Leaf Springs Be Upgraded On a Lippert 3,500 Lb Axle
It is possible to upgrade the leaf springs on a trailer to a higher rated set but I do not recommend this as it can create a rough ride. The better option would be to install the SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs part # TSS-107-40 for overslung or part # TSS-106-40 for underslung axles.
