Question:
Looking for a new weight distribution hitch for my 3411foot Travel Trailer, I have the same truck a 2019 Ram 1500 Crew Cab with a 3.92 rear axel I am well with in all my specs with a Camper at around 700TW and 7k Lbs How ever last year we had a 2021 Camper with a TW about the same but it was only 32foot 7. It had more sway then what I would like. I had a harbor freight WDH and I believe that has been the cause of my sway I added one friction bar to that set up and it helped alot, I am very comfortable with driving truck and trailer. What is a good WDH with sway control?

Hello Brandon,
Congrats on the new camper! When picking out the right weight distribution hitch it is most important to be as close to the tongue weight as possible. You said that your tongue weight is around 700 pounds, I am not sure if you are going by the 10% or used a scale. The tongue weight is typically 10-15% of the trailer weight, that would put you between 700-1,050 pound tongue weight. You could always use something like the Big Truck Big RV Tongue Weight Scale w/ Storage Bag for Trailers - 2,000 lbs # BTBRV44FR to get a more accurate weight so you can get the best performance.
I really like the style of the Blue Ox that you were looking at. I prefer the brackets with the straight spring bars over the ones with the chains, I think they are way better for sway control. If you wanted to spend a little more we do have a system that was added to our site that we are very excited about the Weigh Safe True Tow Weight Distribution Hitch, if your tongue weight is more around the 10% 700 pounds you will want the # WS79VR, if you are over 850 pounds you will want to bump it up to the # WS82ZR. My favorite feature about this system is the built in scale. Once you attach the trailer to the ball it is going to tell you your exact weight, then you open the App answer a couple of questions and it is going to tell you exactly where to install the system so you can achieve that optimal performance. It's nice when a product takes all the guess work out of it.
If you didn't want to go that route, then the Blue Ox Track Pro is a great option, but you are still going to want to find out your exact tongue weight. For 600-800 tongue weight # BLU67FR, 800-1k # BLU77FR, and 1k- 1,300 # BLU27FR.
I wish I could just give you a part number of which one to get but that would be doing you an injustice. But at least now when you figure out that exact tongue weight you will know what you need. I have included some review/install videos. Another really neat feature I feel like is worth mentioning on the weigh safe is where the ball sits, you will see in the video where my buddy Brad is able to open up the tailgate completely on the Ram truck, super awesome!
Please let me know what you find out with the tongue weight and which option you decide to go with. You can comment by clicking the "REPLY TO KATE F" below. If you have any questions at all, ask away =)

Hey Brandon, what did you end up finding when you checked your tongue weight for the new camper? Once you had that number, did you go with the Blue Ox Track Pro or try the Weigh Safe True Tow system? Your update could make it easier for others choosing between those setups.
