The Continuum’s composite LiteFlex bars and adjustable PSI system smooth out bumps, dips, and sway in a way we didn’t think possible. And it’s whisper quiet, so you don’t have to listen to clanking or grinding when you take tight corners. This weight distribution system feels purpose-built for serious RVers who want to enjoy their drive as much as their destination.Key Features:
  • Hydraulic tensioning system with pressure gauge
  • LiteFlex composite load bars for flex and control
  • Virtually silent—no friction noise

If you’re a full-time RVer, someone who frequently hauls in varied conditions, or you just want a system that adapts effortlessly to different trailer loads, this is a no-brainer. Yes, it’s a premium product, but the performance, ease, and comfort make it one of the best long-term investments you can make in your towing setup. Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System
#3: Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution SystemBest for: Long trailers, high winds, heavy-duty towing Max GTW: 16,000 lbsTW Range: Up to 1,600 lbs
There’s a reason the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Hitch has such a loyal following. For years, it’s been the go-to choice among serious RVers and full-time haulers—and after using it ourselves, we totally get the hype. Its integrated 4-point sway control system does a phenomenal job keeping your trailer steady, even when you’re battling high crosswinds or getting passed by semis. This isn’t the quietest system out there—you’ll hear some creaks and pops on tight turns—but the confidence it inspires is more than worth it. Setup can be a bit involved, especially when dialing in the head tilt with washers, but once it's set, you’re good to go.One of the biggest selling points? You don’t have to disconnect anything when backing up. And you can tow in the rain, over gravel, or through mountain switchbacks—no problem. It’s a truly set-it-and-forget-it system.Key Features:
  • Integrated 4-point sway control system
  • Steel-on-steel friction helps stop sway before it starts
  • Adjustable head tilt via spacer washers
  • Clamp-on frame brackets—no drilling required
  • Includes pre-torqued hitch ball and shank
Pros:
  • Industry-leading sway control
  • Built to last—many RVers use them for over a decade
  • Works in reverse, rain, or gravel—no need to disconnect
  • Durable American-made build
Cons:
  • Loud on turns—friction does its job audibly
  • Setup takes time and precision
  • Heavy and bulky to move around
Bottom Line:If towing in wind or mountain passes has ever made you nervous, the Equal-i-zer is worth every penny. It’s not the quietest or lightest hitch on the market, but when it comes to stability and long-haul performance, it’s hard to beat. A favorite for full-timers, big rigs, and anyone who values rock-solid towing.
Andersen Weight Distribution Hitch
#4: Andersen Weight Distribution HitchBest for: Lightweight trailers, smooth and silent towing Max GTW: 14,000 lbsTW Range: Up to 1,400 lbs
We really recommend the Andersen Weight Distribution Hitch for RVers who prioritize quietness and easy install. It's got a really unique design that swaps out spring bars for chain-style tensioning, and uses a friction cone at the hitch ball to manage sway. The result? No screeching turns. No heavy lifting. Just smooth towing. That said, this system has its limits. It’s not the best choice for super heavy or tall trailers, especially if you’re towing in heavy wind. The sway control is also not going to be as powerful as some of the beefier WDH systems you’ll find in this article. But for ultralights, small campers, or utility trailers, it’s an easy win. It’s especially popular among solo travelers and RVers with mobility concerns—or just don’t want to manhandle 100 lbs of steel every time they’re hooking up weight distribution.Key Features:
  • Chain and friction-cone sway control
  • No grease, no grinding
  • Ultra-light construction (~60 lbs total)
  • Cushioned ride via urethane dampers
Pros:
  • Ultra quiet
  • Easy to install and store
  • Great for smaller setups and lighter-duty trucks
  • Andersen's high-quality customer service
Cons:
  • Not ideal for trailers over 7,000 lbs
  • Can require frequent re-checking of chain tension
  • Not the most durable of all the hitches we tested
Bottom Line:Andersen has carved out a niche with its smooth, lightweight, and quiet design—and it deserves the praise. If you tow with a midsize truck or SUV and want a hitch that’s hassle-free, this is a top pick. Plus, the customer support from Andersen is a sure standout. This hitch may not flex its muscles like others, but it really shows up where it counts for everyday towers.
Fastway e2 Weight Distribution
#5: Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ Sway ControlBest for: Budget-conscious haulers, weekend trips, first-timers Max GTW: 12,000 lbsTW Range: Up to 1,200 lbs
The Fastway e2 is a solid entry-level weight distribution system with built-in 2-point sway control. It’s available in both trunnion and round bar styles to fit various trailer heights and tongue weight needs. The trunnion bar version offers better ground clearance and easier hookup — ideal for taller trailers or trucks. The round bar version works well for lower-profile setups. Both use friction at the L-brackets to reduce sway without needing separate sway bars.Real-world feedback is overwhelmingly positive: users report a more stable ride, less sag, and far less sway — even at highway speeds. Setup is straightforward, but the system can be noisy in tight turns (a normal trade-off with friction-based designs).Key Features:
  • 2-point sway control via L-bracket friction
  • Available in multiple TW/GTW ratings
  • Trunnion or round bar spring bars
  • Bolt-on brackets (no drilling)
  • 10-year warranty
Pros:
  • Excellent value
  • Simple, all-in-one system
  • Effective sway control
Cons:
  • Some noise on turns
  • Limited fine-tuning
  • Hitch ball not included
Bottom Line:The Fastway e2 is a top-notch budget-friendly WDH. The sway control is legit, the ride is smooth, and the all-in-one design saves time and guesswork. Choose the trunnion style if ground clearance is a concern — or round bar if your trailer sits low and you need a more compact fit. Either way, this system is one of the best values on the market and a fantastic upgrade from a standard ball mount.

Need to do your research on Blue Ox. The parts may be assembled here in the US, but they are outsourced and the quality of that is evident over any significant period of use. You will not be able to legally find any "Made in the USA" on their product packaging or literature. On the other hand you will find that with Equal-i-zer Hitch as they proudly use top grade US domestic steel and US manufacturing with their hitches. This is evident with the quality and performance, plus you'll see it proudly labeled on the product.

@Jim According to Blue Ox, the SwayPro is fully manufactured in the US, I've just confirmed this via a phone call to Blue Ox. This being said, I agree with your preference for the Equal-i-zer product.

The Equal-i-zer hitch won't make any noise around turns if it is properly lubricated. You need to apply some grease on the upper and lower surfaces of the sockets - it is discussed in the instructions. It's easy to do and you won't have any noise if you do that. Another thing that helps prevent noise is to use the pads for the L brackets. https://www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and-Parts/Equal-i-zer/EQ95-01-5150.html Our Equal-i-zer hitch doesn't make any noise . . . .

I have the Blue Ox Sway Pro, and have been very pleased with it. Last fall I had my Right trailer tire blew out at interstate speeds (65?). I felt absolutely no trailer sway. Just heard the noise followed by the bumpiness as I slowed and pulled over.

I’m retired from 47 years in the hitch business . Equalizer would get my vote these days . Still made in the U.S. It really bothers me to see the “major” brands go to China -just ain’t right !

Would also like to see the Curt Tru-Track 4-point sway control tested. You only included the 2-point.

@DanM There was an error in our description of the TruTrack. The trunnion bar system that's shown is a 4-point system. Curt also offers a round bar TruTrack system that's a 2-point. We'll have that fixed ASAP. We apologize for the confusion!
