Recommended Flat Towing Setup for a 2011 Chevrolet Traverse

Updated 07/26/2024 | Published 07/25/2024

Question:

I am looking for the best components to use to make my 2011 Chevy Traverse flat tow ready. It will be being towed by a 2024 Jayco Greyhawk 30Z. Id like to use an 8000 - 10000 lb. Hitch and other than that Id like to try to to do it as economical as possible taking advantage of sale prices if possible. I am having difficulty deciding on which supplemental braking system to use. I am fairly mechanically inclined but some of your videos make the brake system installation look very difficult. So if someone could make their recommendations on everything I need for a 2011 Traverse I would greatly appreciate it. A consideration may also be to choose components that may be used on a different vehicle down the road. Thank you.

Tom, to flat tow your 2011 Chevrolet Traverse you can use:

-The Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1683 for a base plate kit,

-The etrailer XHD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Blue Ox and Curt Base Plates # e67ZR for a set of tow bars,

-The Roadmaster InvisiBrake Flat Tow Brake System # RM-8700 for a braking system, with the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751221,

and the wiring harness # RM-152-98146-7 with the fuse bypasses # RM-76517 & # RM76511.

Could I use the Blue Ox Patriot brake system instead of Invisibrake?
