This complete kit includes everything you need to connect your RV's tail, brake, and turn signal lights to your towed car. Diodes prevent damage from electrical feedback. Includes 7-way to 6-way coiled adapter cord and 6-way socket.

A combined lighting system, or 2-wire system, uses the same light bulb to signal both braking and turning. (In other words, the car signals a turn by flashing the brake light.)
A separate lighting system, or 3-wire system, has the brake signal and the turn signal light up independently of each other. Typically, the turn signal is amber.
To keep the separate lighting system on your car functioning properly while you're flat towing, add a wiring converter (C56196 - sold separately) and 2 additional diodes.
If the engine is off and your car's brake lights illuminate when you press the brake pedal, you need to install a brake light relay (RM-88400 - sold separately) with this kit. Without a relay, your car's brake signal will override the turn signal sent by the RV when you are slowing down to make a turn, creating a potentially dangerous situation. Other drivers will see that you're slowing down, but not that you're making a turn. With a brake light relay, you can signal both and travel safely.

Yes, you are so right. Flat tow wiring can take a while to install for sure. It sounds like you did everything right since it's been going strong for a year! Where are you pulling your dinghy to? Anywhere tropical? We are in Missouri and expecting snow again on Tuesday. I hope you are enjoying the sunshine somewhere!

Our system is still working perfectly a year later. Our Jeep is a 2018 Cherokee Trailhawk and while we’ve seen some RV forums talk about “death wobble”, we have never experienced this using these Roadmaster products towbar & baseplate. We tow the Jeep with our 39’ Class A gasser and hardly know its back there. Even on sharp corners the Jeep follows perfectly and no binding. Connecting or disconnecting takes maybe 5 – 7 minutes. Then check all of our lights, make sure the Jeep is in neutral wbrakes off and we’re on our way. The braking system that we installed purchased from etrailer is the “Stay-n-Play Duo”. I would recommend that to anyone looking for easy operation. The installation time was a bit lengthy and involved but once completed makes all of your towing trips much easier. Just the flip of a switch and the braking system is ready for towing. No portable unit to lug around and adjust each time you tow your vehicle. The etrailer folks made the perfect recommendations for our needs and everything has worked GREAT!
